Gunn House Hotel
3.6/541 Reviews
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights this past week. The people who run this place were all very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, the bed was just right for a great night sleep. The shower was nice and hot, & they had turned on the air conditioner to make sure our room was cool (100 degree weather) when we arrived. The breakfast was tasty and filling. What a great deal to be able to stay in an historic building (1850) full of charm~!!! We will definitely be staying here again. Lots of charm & character for a great price~! Next time I will take a dip in the nice pool they have. If you like staying in places with lots of unique character you can't beat the price and quality you will find here~!! One of my new favorite places in Sonora. Thanks Gunn house for making our stay with you outstanding~!!
Heritage Inn - Yosemite/Sonora

This place was amazing! The front desk lady, Sharon, was really helpful and called to check in on us after we settled in. The breakfast was good, a bit limited but had a great selection of different things. I’d recommend to go earlier before everyone gets the good stuff. The heater worked really well, and the bathroom was pretty big. The tv didn’t really have any good channels, so I just got an HDMI cable along and hooked up my computer to the tv. One thing to look out for is that you can’t cook here, so make sure to either bring food or be ready to eat out. The hotel was in the middle of downtown, and Walmart was only 5 minutes away, so that was convenient. Overall, a great and affordable hotel to stay in.
Jamestown Railtown Motel

On a two thousand mile motorcycle ride you end up staying in some interesting places. Finding this place was a huge bonus! The rooms are nothing special, even a bit dated but they are extremely clean and very comfy. We were a little disappointed that there wasn’t any coffee in the rooms but were rewarded by the owner, Andrea, who made us a pot of very good coffee accompanied with half and half and sweetener. Did I mention outstanding service? We are all cigar smokers and Andrea also brought us comfy chairs so we could enjoy our morning smoke out in front of our rooms, just another very thoughtful touch. It is such a treat to find great, old-fashion service with hosts willing to above and beyond to make us comfortable. We ride through every couple of years and will most definitely return to the Railtown Motel! Thank you again!
Inn at Sugar Pine Ranch

TLDR; - Sugar Pine Ranch to date has still been unresponsive since our stay in August 2023. - Property had no power for entire duration of stay. No air, no lighting, no backup or generator power, no response or communication besides the bare minimum during that one night (and nothing since) - Property didn't send check-in instructions until we arrived on the property and after we spent significant amounts of time trying to request them in the middle of a storm. No big deal (and storm was out of their control), but property then inaccurately says check-in instructions were sent earlier (but in fact instructions were sent the day after, AFTER we checked out as evidenced by time stamps). Happy to amend/include these if the property wishes to dispute any of this. - Property disputes the power outage by telling *********** that there was indeed power to the property, and goes insofar as to provide a fabricated photo of a room with lights on to *********** to assist in their case (not directly to us, obviously). Well, there was in fact no power during the entire stay. Again, if the property wishes to dispute this publicly, MORE than happy to provide evidence here. ....but seriously? A photo with the lights on? I'm mainly floored by the audacity to lie (and fabricate something no less), but also, did the owners of the property drive out in the middle of the night to the property just to take a photo of an unoccupied room with the lights on, just to preemptively provide evidence against a potential, future customer claim? (by the way, didn't sleep at all that night since there was no air and we had the windows wide open due to the heat build-up in the room - pretty sure I would have seen/heard car lights coming on the property, but that's besides the point). Secondly, unless that photo was actually sent to *********** that night with a timestamp, what exactly is that supposed to be evidence of? Conclusion: shocked by positive reviews here. If the owners of this property actually care to address this issue or speak with me directly for once, I'd be more than happy to revise this review to accurately reflect everything that's happened - I don't believe in making false or unfair statements regardless of how unsatisfied I am. Unfortunately it seems the owners are dishonest and unethical with what I've learned through two different agents at ***********, so I am compelled to share my experience.
Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks Hotel Conference Center

We had a fabulous 3 day stay. It started with a needed room change at the last minute, which was a life saver for our vacation. The surroundings of the hotel are just beautiful. We had a 2 room suite that was huge, and immaculate. The breakfast is to die for. Esp. the eggs, which they scramble with a little bacon and ham I believe. I got the recipe from the super nice hostess. Bacon is fresh and smoked. They also provide free bottled water every morning which was nice to have. The hotel is also very quiet. Everyone was very nice. It felt more like going home than going to a hotel.

Do not stay here! If I could give ZERO stars I would!!! I am surprised it’s even open to the public. Save yourself a headache, anger and time. My experience in a gist… Schitts Creek Motel vibe but worse!!! Upon arriving to the location after a 10 hour long drive the front desk receptionist (Trystin) was discourteous she only asked for the reservation name & didn’t even greet me or give details about the location of my room, I had to figure it out on my own. I drive to my location & in the parking space there’s glass on the floor as if a car had been broken into (first of one of many red flags). I try to open my room but the room key doesn’t work. I go back to the front desk and the receptionist seems annoyed. I go to the room & the room stinks like a public restroom or porta potty. I look around the room & there’s a blind that is broken where outsiders could peek through. I try to brush it off & go to use the restroom & there’s a thin layer of toilet paper left on the roll. That’s not all folks, I check the bed & I see random hair on top of the bed…I pull the covers to see what’s inside but find more hair but from down there!!! It’s ridiculous!! I immediately request to have my money reimbursed…I was willing to stay in my car than to stay in that place, but luckily I was able to find another location that was 100 times better (I paid more but it was worth it). I spoke to the supposed manager & was told I wouldn’t be charged due to the fact they didn’t have the room up to par. I get my credit card bill & of course I see that they had charged it & I had to deal with getting that money reimbursed!! Worst experience ever to say the least! If I could report it to BBB, Yelp or anywhere I will!! That place needs to be under investigation. I get it that it’s a small town away from it all, but still, no place should be offered to the public in that condition. I wasn’t expecting 5 star treatment but just a basic clean & safe place to sleep after a long drive. I sure hope someone reads this and gains some insight & steers clear unless it’s to investigate it!!!!! See the images they speak for themselves.
