Car broke down just as we were driving out of Hondo for San Antonio. Was unable to get a tow truck (AAA is going to get a very negative review) and needed to find a hotel. The Regency Inn was the closest hotel, and at first we were a little reluctant seeing as it looks like a typical unbranded roadside hotel. How that reluctance changed immediately after we walked into the lobby. The front desk clerk, Sammy, greeted us with enthusiasm and warmth. He made sure all of our needs for the stay were met, including lending us a couple of charging cubes so we could charge our phones. We found our room (112) to be clean, with typical amenities. Everything in the room worked, television, nice cool AC, and comfortable beds. Room was quiet and isolated from the highway traffic. The rates were half what the next nearest hotel charges. I would definitely recommend the Regency Inn if you need a place to stay while in Hondo.
