Pros Clean laundry is available Toilets are separate from showers so when you have to pee in the morning you aren't waiting for people to finish as shower. I wasn't aware of any waits for either toilets or showers. Plugs for / by each bed Nice towels, pillows duvets etc Good internet for what we needed Window opens to cool the room off well. Cons Missing kitchen stuff - ie they don't have can openers, spatulas or hot pads to grab hot pots or hand towels to dry dishes. The room is cramped/tight Have to pay for bedding, it isnt included Laundry is pricy 1500 for wash another 1500 to dry. Not sure I'd go back even if it was the best deal... depends on how much extra the next place to stay was.
Eldá Guesthouse

Stayed there as a family for four nights and the two girls that were running this place where so hospitable. Their service was very good. We have a 19 month baby girl and we came a little bit early, called them and asked for a early check in. No problem. When we arrived almost everything was ready with a children´s bed and everything. Our doughter has allergic to eggs and milk and they custom made breakfast for us. I myself ate the buffet and it was really good! The bed was good and the room that we got was separate from the main building, it had a sink in it and a desk. You can hear commotion if somebody is opening doors but its ok. There was 2 toilets both with showers, everything clean and a small kitchen where you could cook, store your food in the fridge and eat at a table. I accidentally broke an bottle opener and told them about it and they just brought me a new one. I promised to buy a new one but I totally forgot it. I recommend this place, especially if you have kids. Just let them know beforehand and they will take good care of you.
Guesthouse Storu-Laugar

Very very good, really happy! My husband has always praised me that this hotel is well booked. It is recommended to consider this hotel after the tour from Lake Myvatn. There is a natural hot spring. It is a hot spring pool covered by the natural hot spring that the owner flows down from the mountain. We didn't take a dip in the Blue Lake and Lake Myvatn this time because the schedule was too tight, but because this hotel comes with it, we took two dips in the evening and in the morning. After the dip, our hands and feet were warm. Advantages: The room is large and has a small balcony. A small table and two chairs are placed for guests to relax and drink tea. The room is clean and hygienic, and the bathroom decoration is also very comfortable. There are natural hot springs outside. The breakfast was pretty good. The price is also very nice. Disadvantages: None.

Located off Hwy 1 about 60 kilometers from lake Myvatn is a good guesthouse. You check in at one place, but you maybe staying at a complex about 6 kilometers away. The rooms are good sized and have private baths. Also much cheaper than in the Lake Myvatn area. The owner is helpful. At the complex where I stayed there is a good communal kitchen and meeting room. Contrary to Booking's statement, there is a breakfast option which is good at an additional cost. It is a lonely outpost on the long barren stretch of Hwy 1 headed east from Lake Myvatn. It is convenient to Dettifoss.

While on a 10-day Ring Road drive around Iceland, three of us booked one night here. We were met by the owner, a friendly and helpful gentleman. Our room had three single beds, was pleasantly decorated, and had a nice view of the countryside. Everything in the room looked, felt, and smelled clean as a whistle. The bed was firm but very comfortable, and the small sink in a corner came in handy for nighttime sips of water. Everyone slept very well in this quiet, rural guest house. The shared bathroom was well-planned and spotless. The shower was completely separated from the rest of the bath, and featured a private modern shower with plenty of hot water. The two toilet stalls are super private, with walls and doors that completely protect the modesty of the occupants. Two sinks complete the shared bath. There is a shared living-dining room with large windows and comfortable furniture. A hot tub is available for guests, but we did not use it. Breakfast the following morning was great. Typical Icelandic foods such as an assortment of breads, fruit, cereal, and beverages. There are small kitchen appliances, including a refrigerator, and kitchen ware for guests to use too, a nice touch. While we ate, the owner chatted with us about Icelandic gardening, asked what our plans were, and offered suggestions for sightseeing along our route. We followed his sage advice and were very grateful that he suggested those places. If you're looking for a quiet, clean place with warm and welcoming hosts, you found it. If we're ever fortunate enough to return to this beautiful corner of Iceland, we will definitely stay here again.
SEL - Hótel Mývatn

We stayed at Sel Hotel Mývatn for one night in April and it was delightful. The room was very big and clean, and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel has a northern lights wake-up-call for free, and this made it possible for us to see the northern lights! There are hot tubs, billiard tables and spaces to chill & relax. Totally recommend!
