We were in awe of this home. So much to explore and so much history! Loved the thick granite walls and original wooden doors/shutters with hardware, antiques and displays everywhere, beautiful view, and even a pool. It is situated in a quaint little area by a church and you can easily walk down to the river. The area around Ponte da Barca is absolutely beautiful and fun to explore. The hosts are very friendly and offered a lovely breakfast.

We were walking the Portuguese Camino and this was our favourite hotel of the route. We were delighted to have a kettle in our room so we could make a herbal tea which we’d brought with us. It coincided with us finishing the day’s walk mid afternoon so got to enjoy a relax around the pool and a dip. Great breakfast too! Reception were really friendly and helpful.

This charming and extremely well priced hotel is a 10 minute walk from the train station and a 5 minute walk from the main street in Viana do Castelo. The staff was lovely, the hotel charming. The room was spotless, and impeccably comfortable. The bathroom was also sparkling and everything functioned perfectly. Breakfast was lovely. The breakfast staff was cheerful and helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Great location, service, care and attention both at reception and in the restaurant. Good organization so there is no inconvenience of lack of tables at breakfast. Excellent breakfast. Definitely an experience to be repeated and recommended.

It was a great stay. Hotel staff were always attentive. The cleanliness is outstanding for being excellent. Spacious rooms with everything you need to have a great stay. Breakfast is exceptional, nothing is missing and has everything. It is close to the center and also to the beaches. I will definitely come back.

I went with my husband and a couple friends on Carnival weekend. We entered on the 19th and left on the 21st of February. I hadn't been to this hotel for a long time. Being a 4 star unit I was quite disappointed with the restoration. When it comes to breakfast, it's quite reasonable. The two dinners we had there were very bad. Even if you are a member, you pay a considerable amount per person. At one of the dinners they served some black pork secrets that they might have been embarrassed to present. Missing desserts. Salads only lettuce, tomato and corn. It was not this type of service that I was used to at Inatel, but at what is considered a 4-star service. I'm sorry but I can't accept it. Inatel management should scrutinize these situations.

We stayed here as part of a golfing trip to northern Portugal. We enjoyed the golf course which is very good … if lacking in decent practice facilities. The hotel is nothing special … clean and functional - no bar, but you can buy alcohol in reception for consumption in your room. There is a pool and gym attached which is for use by hotel guests - and outside members too. The staff in the gym were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is ok. As the hotel does not have a restaurant, we had a package which allowed us to eat in the golf club restaurant. The food here is very mediocre indeed … a set menu with a choice of two dishes per course (more for desert). My veal pasta was pretty much inedible on one night I am sad to say. The staff in the restaurant are very hit and miss … apart from Miguel who tried exceedingly hard and looked after us very well. Thumbs up to him!
