Muthu Ben Doran Hotel
3.5/580 Reviews
The room was large and clean and the front desk reception was pleasant and helpful. The hotel lounge and dining areas were large and bright. The decor was drab and dated with extensive use of ugly carpet and wallpaper everywhere. The bizarre shower mixing valve arrangement resulted in the bath tub filling up very fast when taking a shower. The pivoting glass shower door/deflector arrangement made it difficult to impossible to keep shower spray from ending up on the bathroom floor. The bathroom door had no proper handle/latch/lock for privacy and was only held closed with a magnet. Finding parking was a horror story. All regular spots were taken and what was left was utter chaos. Everyone else had just improvised and parked wherever they could find a spot along the drive, on the grass etc... Wi-Fi did not work throughout the ENTIRE stay. The reception staff indicated that the router was likely ”overloaded”. They reset the router but it didn't help. There were no physical LAN drops in the room either. We paid 20 pounds for a breakfast that was at first non-existent (buffet style - almost empty to empty warmers). When we entered the dining area there were few people but many...most tables covered with dirty dishes, cutlery etc...After an extended wait food trickled out. In the mean time we had to search for the coffee (INSTANT coffee made en-masse). The actual food offerings were ok once they appeared but many items were reheated pre-packaged items and there were almost no heathy (fruit, plain yogurt etc...) options.
Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel & Spa
3.7/578 Reviews
Oh Forest Hills I am so disappointed. Some of my first ever memories are of having fun here as a child. Which is why I was so looking forward to staying here and using the pool facilities etc. Unfortunately we didn’t get far. The grounds of the resort are, as so many users have mentioned, just beautiful. I’ve had lunch in the lounge area a few times and it’s been lovely, staff have been friendly and nice food with outstanding views. Moving on to our recent booking. I emailed about a week in advance to ask about booking the restaurant as the website didn’t let me and also to confirm we had a cot for our baby. Nobody ever got back to me. Why not? I received a telephone call after 9.30 pm one night later on in the week preceding our stay. No message was left and no attempt to phone again. I only figured out it was the hotel as the location showed on my phone as “Callendar”. So the next day I phoned back and was informed unapologetically that “we’ve been having issues with our website recently”. I asked to confirm that we had a cot and was told with a slight attitude “yes we saw the age of the child in your booking”. Upon arriving at the room we found out there was no mattress in the cot. We checked this with the housekeeping staff who informed us that the hotel didn’t provide mattresses for cots. This wasn’t something we were expecting as we have stayed in 2 hotels since having our son and both provided mattresses without question. If it’s the hotel’s policy not to provide mattresses that’s fine, but why didn’t anyone confirm this either by replying to my email or during that telephone call when I asked if there would be a cot? A young man from housekeeping delivered the happy news that there would be no mattress, again with an attitude, please train him he doesn’t have a clue what he’s on about. Your staff just don’t seem to care. I did however receive a plethora of emails beforehand trying to get me to upgrade which just clogged up my inbox so thanks. The other issue was that the lift wasn’t working. From the reviews I’ve read it looks as though this may have been out of order since some time in March? What on earth are you doing not getting that fixed? We had to haul the pushchair up some stairs for our very brief visit! Not a member of staff in sight aside from the disinterested plainclothes housekeeping staff, who were too busy swearing to each other about their personal lives to even acknowledge our presence (it’s really not a good look, please sort it out). The lady at receptionist was civil but not that friendly and didn’t look up at us until she was ready when we were trying to check in (which was a bad first impression). So when my husband went to ask for a refund (which you provided without argument , thank you) the same person ignored him in the queue and he could see quite clearly that she was on WhatsApp lol. Come on now. Would you be happy with this if that was you trying to get your money back? To top it off the manager was
Holiday Inn Express Stirling
4.2/5111 Reviews
I stayed at the HI Express in Stirling for the BTCC racing at nearby Knockhill circuit. The hotel itself is easy to access from the main routes and is clearly signposted from quite a way back on the A91. There's also a spacious car park on site. My room on the 1st floor was clean and tidy and reasonably spacious. The aircon unit was a little noisy to start but soon settled down. The bathroom and shower were also spacious and easy to operate. The staff were lovely and welcoming and got me checked in with zero fuss and also very handily wrote down the amended breakfast serving times (as I was unaware that Scotland had a bank holiday) . The only downside of the stay was breakfast on the second morning. On my first morning (Sunday) the breakfast buffet opened at 7:00 and fully stocked, which made my early start to Knockhill much more pleasant with some sausage and bacon. Unfortunately on the following Monday morning there was no sausage available as it seems the delivery had not arrived, it also seemed to affect other parts of the breakfast offering too. This is the only thing that stops this review being a 5/5.
Stirling Highland Hotel- Part of the Cairn Collection
4.1/5109 Reviews
We stayed in the Highland many years ago & had a good experience. Unfortunately not the case on this occasion. Given the location & proximity to central Stirling could be so much better, Pluses were the location, spa & friendly welcome. We had a room on second floor which had a nice city view. Unfortunately furnishings were very tired & there were visible ring marks on the bedside tables. Hallway carpet had holes in it. We used the spa area & this was well maintained. Breakfast was average. What really let the hotel down was the fact they allowed certain guests to come to breakfast in their pyjamas. Why is management allowing this? Don’t want to be eating while someone has their unwashed bare feet resting on a seat next to me. Not for us I’m afraid.
Stirling Court Hotel

The location of the hotel is very good, just opposite to the into language school. The bus stop is a minute or two walk away, and it is very convenient and fast to take the bus wherever you go. The hotel industry provides parking lot, if you are staying at the hotel, please come before departure The station said that parking is also free.
DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro

First impressions beautiful hotel great setting. Then ......Hotel is far too big for the facilities it holds Firstly the lift not fit for purpose place was mobbed and cueing for a lift. Room was so small and bed was tiny for a double the noise in the corridors was like not having a door it was so clear and loud. Pool was halved by a rope loads of families crammed into a small side and a full half for lane swimmers ? Pool was uncomfortably cold we were told boiler was down but not compensated in any way and the changing room floors were filthy both men and ladies . I left early morning to go to work let them know my Mrs was still in bed and would come past when leaving and she got woken up by the room cleaner as they had been told we had both left. Checked my bank today to see they had taken my drink bill twice so am now waiting 5 days for my nearly £100 back. Total letdown and worse today knowing I'm billed twice for the same drinks and waiting 5 days for a return only to be told by the reception when I called that's just the way it is ...luckily I'm not desperate for the money. One positive to take the restaurant was absoloutelly tremendous as were the staff who served us in there are a credit to the hotel other than that wouldn't set foot back in the place. What a waste of a valentine gift for my Mrs. Total letdown
Buchanan Arms Hotel & Leisure Club

Lovely hotel with a friendly service and plenty of amenities. The leisure club was lovely, especially after a day of hiking.
Cromlix
4.7/546 Reviews
Had an amazing time at Cromlix - rooms were great, staff very friendly and attentive and were brilliant with the kids, nothing was too much trouble food-wise or otherwise! For anyone in any doubt about activities in the area, I cannot recommend the fishing experience with Steve, highly enough! Absolutely brilliant - not only is he a real gentlemen, he is incredibly passionate about teaching people the art of fly fishing and his manner with the kids was brilliant. Trying to teach a 5 & 8 year old proper fishing is not easy but he did it with such ease and humour, that they both loved it as much as we did. 100% recommend anyone to do it.
King Robert Hotel
4/566 Reviews
The hotel was very modern and clean. In addition the evening meal was great value for money and the black pudding at breakfast was divine. Similarly the rooms were very pleasing and the beds were luxurious. Word of advice though, watch out for the breakfast lady with purple hair. A fair number of my travelling party experienced her lack of customer service, even our coach driver mentioned it, making a joke of it on the bus tannoy. Despite this, all other staff were great and the hotel is a great place. We'll worth a visit.
Best Western Crianlarich Hotel
4/567 Reviews
My friend and I had a range of interesting experiences at the Crianlarich hotel. At the bar, we asked for wine in large glasses with ice and soda, but were told by the bar person we could only have wine in wine glasses and were left feeling strangely chastised - as if we had broken some peculiar protocol. We dined in the restaurant and chose a pasta dish which was substantial but lacking in depth of flavour. The waiting staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room was very warm, but thankfully, a fan was supplied. The hospitality tray featured the usual instant coffee/tea selection, with the welcome addition of a bag of popcorn - which I enjoyed! I liked the 1930's vibe of the public areas, but felt that our bedroom - though comfortable - was lacking in character. The breakfast buffet was everything one could require and the menu featured a good range of options; I had eggs royale, it was fine, but I would have preferred my poached eggs to be runny (I know this is a personal preference).
