Mercure Northampton

This hotel is steps away from the centre and steps away from the iconic Roadmender venue. There are PLENTY of food places, bars, and shops within walking distance. Only downfall for me was the pool being nomore :( Please bring it back, I intend to use you every time I visit Northampton now and would love a cheeky swim. Other than that, a lovely hotel with lovely staff, I'll be back.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WOW, absolutely flawless. The welcome we had was incredible, all of the team were , friendly, funny and very very attentive. The bar staff, the events team, the spa staff made our stay so memorable. We have been lucky enough to travel the world and have experienced the best hospitality whilst doing so. The experience here was right up there with the best. Joanne at the spa was such a delight l. Her smile brightened our day and could not have been more helpful.

We stayed here overnight whilst visiting family in Flore. We shared a 'family room' which was very reasonably priced. The room was warm and comfortable, very user friendly with a clean, neat shower room. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was fresh and clean. The bar area was relaxing with a choice of seating that would suit large groups or small cosy chats. The was a huge selection for breakfast, with both continental and full English choices (mix and match?) A special mention must go to Laura (reception, room service and, later, bar attendant!) Laura was so cheerful and friendly, and helped us out with information, local advice, and recommendations. Laura was attentive, kind and funny! Thank you, Laura! :-) Much appreciated!

Stayed here at the weekend with friends; lovely room, enjoyed the evening meal and a fab breakfast. Would recommend. The only downside was that there is a service charge payable on all drinks that you are not notified of. We queried our bar bill as it didn’t make sense and was told by a member of staff that on all purchases a 10% charge is payable. There is no signs up around the bar area notifying you of this. We were told that the staff are not allowed to tell you about this. To me that seems fraudulent. Surely you can’t be charged for something that you don’t know about every time you go up to the bar and purchase a drink? Not sure if the staff get this money or the company. If this is company policy are they breaking the law by not notifying you of this? Please be wary.
Ibis Northampton Centre

he issue that I have experienced was: When I first arrived at the hotel I requested an iron and and ironing board. The member of staff gave me an iron but stated that I could not have an ironing board because it must be in a room. I asked if I could get it later as I need to iron my shirt for work and was informed that it would be sent to my room. This happened at around 3 in the afternoon, it is now 10.15 at night and they have not produced it. Next I ordered a meal in my room, I waited 1 hour before going to reception and finding out they forgot to send my meal to my room. I was informed that the meal was ready now if I wanted it I could take it, which I was happy to do, only to find out that they had tried to give me my meal that was stone cold. Not good for chicken and chips. I then ordered a smaller snack because of the time and waited 45 minutes telephoned reception and was told by the supervisor that they had just come on shift and knew nothing about my issues. She apologised and assured me that she would personally bring my sandwich to me in 15 minutes, 30 minutes later I go to reception as I had still not got my sandwich and it was too late to eat at 9.30 at night. I asked to speak to the supervisor outside as the members of staff who gave me this poor service were by reception and I wanted to speak privately, outside I did not get an apology for the poor customer service of her staff and she did not apologies for incorrectly telling how long I would have to wait the second time, after I had told her about my poor experience. She then said ”you don't want the food raw, do you” after me complaining about her keeping waiting the second time. I teach customer service and this has been the worst service I have ever received in a hotel ever, and I will using this experience with Ibis in my classes on a perfect example of how not to treat a customer for a long time. This is my first experience of Ibis hotels and I am shocked that this is how you treat your guests. It occurred on: 01/09/2022 This meant that I am in my hotel room furious and disappointed and have not eaten. It feel ironic that tomorrow I will be teaching customer service and I am unable to sleep because of how much this has affected me. I am not satisfied with the service I have received and I feel frustrated that it is too late to book into another hotel. Train your staff to a much better standard and made aware that this is not good enough. Send me a full apology and the cost of my evening meal that I did receive should be charged. I don't expect any of the things I have shared with you to make any difference to the staff and if I was ever foolish enough to stay at this hotel again I am sure I would get the same poor customer service. I just hope that this is a poor hotel and it does not reflect other hotels in your chain.
Plough Hotel

I only stayed for 1 night on a business trip but would have been happy to stay longer, was surprised by the reviews but most poor reviews are now dated. There is a small car park next to the hotel and you just put your registration into the tablet at reception to avoid a parking fine. From the moment I arrived the staff were so welcoming, my room was on the top floor and there are no lifts due to the age of the building but there are plenty of landings to stop on the way up. The room was clean, warm and the bed could have slept 7. Lovely ensuite with walk in shower and the towels were hanging over a warming radiator so were toasty after the shower and they were super fluffy. I ate in the restaurant for my evening meal, it was very relaxed, even with a disco going on in the main room, the ceaser salad was tasty and a good sized portion, the bread and butter pudding was amazing ! Once you leave the bar area you can't hear the main room disco. Your breakfast is made to order and there is a selection of juices, cereals and bread for toasting while you wait. The food was served on a warmed plate and was just right to set you up for the day. The staff throughout the stay were nothing but friendly and helpful.
Hilton Northampton

Had arrived from the Hilton in Harrogate which was brilliant. Had high hopes for the brand when I arrived at this hotel. Walked in to reception and all I can say is appearances can be deceiving. Once you look past the chandeliers and flowers it’s evident this isn’t up to the usual Hilton standard. The first receptionist I spoke to was either shy or new. Very basic service, more time spent looking at the screen. Had to ask the usual questions, breakfast times/location:car parking payment etc.. Got told it was on my key card. That’s great but I’m asking you in person and having stayed at many hotels this is usually standard. The rooms are very basic and the hotel does need modernising. The receptionist kindly moved me (thank you Eva) as I could hear everything in the original room I was allocated, and the adjoining door between my room and the one next door didn’t seem to secure.. I found the family room I was given slightly more modern but the beds creaked awfully. Luckily I always take ear plugs. Bathrooms had those horrible shower heads that emit shed loads of spray, not ideal if you are trying not to get your hair wet and just have a wash. They do provide shower caps though. There is also a reminder to be vigilant with the shower curtain as the spray shower heads soak everything! Food in the restaurant was mediocre but prompt. Hilton prices without quality. Had the risotto which was essentially pea and cream, no taste of mint. It was a huge portion though and served quickly. Girls on service were very friendly but had to be reminded as to service. I was also given pudding without a spoon, had to go exploring as there were no staff to help find one. Pudding was bizarre, a lemon sponge thing on a bed of granola. Tasted like a dandelion. Had intended to use the gym, but to be honest I didn’t want to stay here longer than I needed to. In sum, not awful but not great. Standard no higher than a Holiday Inn, albeit they are more modern and don’t charge their guests for parking.
Holiday Inn Express Kettering

Had a really nice one night stay here. A quiet spot, so no overnight noise, easy free parking and friendly staff upon check in. Near to a Miller and Carter, Starbucks and petrol station containing a Greggs and Subway. Clean, well appointed room, with Dove toiletries, iron and ironing board, tea and coffee and really good Wi-Fi. I would definitely use this hotel when travelling again in the the area.

This was my first time staying at this hotel, it was a convenient location as I was visiting the area nearby. The hotel is outside of the town centre but that wasn't an issue for me, there is a pub located right next door if you prefer to go out for a drink or some food. I didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening but I did have breakfast which was good. The mattress was a little uncomfortable for me but I have back problems so others may not have an issue. I would be happy to stay at this hotel again when in the area.

Our stay was fantastic and all the staff were really helpful and professional. We had one of the engineers come to our room to help us out called Derek who couldn’t do more to help us and fixed the problem immediately. I would really recommend staying at this hotel as we were made to feel so welcome. I will definitely be returning to this hotel the next time I stay in Northampton.
