Well this is around our 8th time at the taureq Dec 23 we asked for an upgrade on arrival to be told no room yet we emailed way in advance before arriving which was what we were told to do previously. Again this time same thing , maybe tomorrow your get a letter through your door , no letter so asked again , again told no maybe Tues wed no point as only staying a week . Looked at a trip which the rep was clearly not interested even her colleague had to pull her away from chatting with her friend to deal with us , asked questions she wasn't even listening and we had to repeat the question. The rooms are very tired see pictures No sunbeds , it's ridiculous. Everyone goes down crack of dawn if not earlier then disappear for hours on end . Yesterday infinity pool run out of rum and vodka then ran out of fanta . The joke was all the blokes were watching football so wasn't that busy there for once .took an hour before a staff member even went to get more which took at least another 45 mins .I definitely wouldn't recommend it , not 5* not even 3* now desd flies were on plates in the main restaurant. Eventually they were cleared but it made me very weary of what I eat in there .save your money snd go somewhere nicer .we only come because hubby fishes but to be honest it's getting so bad it's becoming intolerable even for that .hand rail up the stairs falling off , reported but still there two days later food is same everyday, mediocre.

First time visiting the RIU karamboa and what a experience it was. From checking in to leaveing the staff have been nothing but friendly, the cleaners, receptionists, bar staff, entertainers etc..... All very polite, happy going people. The food is amazing, such a variety aswell. Food I've never had and it was spot on. The pool bar staff are the most entertaining people you will ever meet, bar opens at 10:30am and from opening to close they are always smiling, laughing and singing to the music, they just make you feel so welcome. The hotel it self is 5* rated and we've had a 5*service throughout, amazing 10 days we've had and will definitely be returning when the new refurb has happened. Obrigada :)

The airport pick up worked well, as did the check in. Sleep quality is very good with rooms to any side of the hotel. The hotel as a whole is very tatty. The lift was dirty, the walls are marked everywhere and the very basic room furniture is also scratched, well used. it would all need a deep redecoration. The TV did only have 2 channels, none with English news. This is fine for a 2 night stay but a holiday, rather not. the b'fast was basic too. The entire location of Sal Rei is in decay due to large travel companies having luxury resorts established way out of town, where people have all inclusive. Few tourists come into Sal Rei. This has the benefit that local restaurants are for the locals and offer great food, notably the Te Manche, about 400 m along the beach from this hotel.
