"First off, the front desk service was excellent. 👍 They were very thoughtful, spoke in a gentle tone, and went out of their way to help guests. When we needed to switch rooms, they offered to move our luggage for us, which was a huge plus. While waiting for our ride at checkout, the front desk even brought us lemonade. The room cleanliness was also impeccable. The front desk staff and cleaning aunties were very prompt in resolving any small issues. The hotel's location is great, with many restaurants nearby, and it's a quick taxi ride to major attractions. The robot delivery service for takeout was also very convenient. There were travel tips on the walls and cultural and creative products available for browsing in the lobby. The ground floor lobby also offered beverages like barley tea and plum juice, along with a reading nook. Breakfast mostly consisted of simple Chinese options: congee, various stir-fries, boiled and tea eggs, fried dough sticks, and small steamed buns. Western options were limited to toast and milk. However, regarding facilities and environment: (1) Upon arrival, the room still required a key card to power on the AC, and there was no AC in the hallways. The AC on the first floor was also not very strong. The temperature in Quanzhou that day was over 30 degrees Celsius, and waiting for the room to cool down was quite frustrating. (2) I made two separate bookings. For the first two days, the twin room's TV wall wallpaper was a bit dirty and the soundproofing was slightly poor. "Absolutely exceeded expectations! While the room wasn't huge, the design was quite minimalist. I really appreciate that the vanity is inside the bathroom – I personally dislike it when it's outside as it disturbs whoever you're sharing the room with. They even provide makeup remover and facial cleanser, which is a fantastic touch. All the little details were really well thought out. The hotel's location is also within the operating range of the 'little white cars' (local transport), and the environment isn't too noisy. Plus, there are bus stops right downstairs that can take you to many places."

"The hotel offers airport shuttle service, which was a crucial factor in my decision, especially since it's so close to the airport. The area around the hotel is a bit desolate, but you can rent a bike (via QR code) and ride about 2km to a livelier area with a great selection of food. The decor is consistent with Atour's signature style."

Hotel near Xunpu Village/Donghai Taihe Plaza,Quanzhou
As an international hotel brand, InterContinental Quanzhou has become a highly anticipated core building in the city with its transcendent style and excellent quality. The hotel is located in the Donghai Taihe Plaza, which is known as a commercial aircraft carrier. It is built along the Jinjiang River and enjoys the beautiful city scenery. It is close to the Taikoo Plaza in the East Bay and the Xiapu Folk Culture Village. It is only a 20-minute drive from Jinjiang International Airport, a 30-minute drive from Quanzhou Railway Station, and a 5-minute drive to Jinjiang Bridge. InterContinental Quanzhou is happy to share more excitement with you, allowing you to enjoy the "InterContinental Life" while experiencing the comfort of "Knowing and Traveling in Quanzhou".

"Booked for 5 nights, and the InterContinental brand certainly delivers. The hotel is quite close to the airport, very convenient for getting around, and has excellent amenities nearby. We were able to check in immediately upon arrival in the morning, no waiting for a room. The front desk staff patiently answered all our questions and even thoughtfully provided their personal list of recommended local eateries. Upon entering our room, we discovered it was InterContinental Quanzhou's 8th anniversary, and we received a voucher for the 5th-floor Chinese restaurant and a discounted rate for the Western restaurant, which was a pleasant surprise. The room's layout was great, it was quiet, and the soundproofing was effective. Toiletries were well-stocked, the bedding was very comfortable, and they had even arranged for buckwheat pillows as per our prior request – the service was truly attentive. A special thank you to the housekeeping staff who cleaned our room every day; it was always spotless and tidy when we returned from our outings. Now for a couple of minor drawbacks. Given it's an InterContinental, I would have hoped for more tech integration, like smart toilets or automated curtains. Also, while the breakfast had a good variety and Fujianese specialties, the taste of the Chinese dishes could be improved, and perhaps a wider selection would be nice. We might have felt this more since we stayed for 5 days, and it started to feel a bit repetitive. The food at the 5th-floor Chinese restaurant wasn't as good as expected; the beef was too sinewy to chew, and when we mentioned it to the waiter, they just smiled, which wasn't ideal. Overall, though, we were quite satisfied and would recommend it."

Nanping Colorful Village Homestay

This place makes me wish there was an option for six stars. I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay. I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me. I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters. To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms. Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful. The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees. This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine. This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit. It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

Had a fantastic stay! The location is super convenient for getting around, and there are plenty of places to eat, drink, and shop nearby. The room had a large bed and a small bed, which was enough for our family of five (2 adults and 3 children). The environment was elegant and the soundproofing was good. There was also a mini-fridge in the room, perfect for storing fruits and drinks. The kids loved the pool downstairs. The only downside was the TV; it wasn't connected to the internet, so we couldn't choose what we wanted to watch. The hotel's location is excellent, with many attractions nearby, making it convenient for shopping and dining!

I do not recommend this hotel for families traveling with young children or for non-smoking guests. Although we booked a non-smoking room, the room was filled with a strong cigarette smell. We have a history of asthma, so we specifically explained our health concerns and requested a room change. After several complaints, the hotel eventually moved us to another room late at night, but unfortunately, it was mistakenly an actual smoking room, making the situation even worse. We had to contact Trip.com on the second morning to seek assistance. The hotel manager eventually offered complimentary breakfast as compensation, but overall, this was a very disappointing experience.

📍 青年阳光S酒店(厦门会展中心加州广场店) 🏨 Youth Sunshine S Hotel (Xiamen International Convention & Exhibition Center California Plaza Branch) 🗓 Check-in Date: February 15, 2026 🗓 Check-out Date: February 19, 2026 🕘 Departure Time: 5:00 PM (Special Request Accepted) We arrived at the hotel at 9:45 PM on the eve of Chinese New Year. Given the late hour and festive season, we were concerned that nearby restaurants might already be closed. To our pleasant surprise, several small eateries within 50 meters of the hotel were still open, allowing us to enjoy a proper late dinner. It was a reassuring start to our stay. The hotel’s environment is comfortable and welcoming. The lobby features a bright, clean design with warm wood tones and soft lighting that create a calm, relaxing atmosphere. A tasteful display area and cozy seating space add a subtle blend of business functionality and artistic charm. The front desk staff were professional and courteous, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient despite the late hour. We stayed in the Premier Themed Room (Japanese Style with Sakura), which was truly one of the highlights of our trip. Upon entering, we were greeted by a beautifully designed Japanese-inspired interior. Warm lighting, wooden flooring, and delicate sakura (cherry blossom) wall art created a serene and elegant ambiance. Wooden partition panels and subtle decorative details added refinement, giving the space an artistic yet tranquil feel — almost like a small ryokan-style retreat in the heart of Xiamen. The room was thoughtfully designed, spacious, and impeccably clean. A charming feature was the private balcony, which allowed fresh air in. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, dressed in crisp white linens. The mattress offered excellent support, and the pillows were soft yet supportive, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. All essential toiletries were generously provided, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dental kits, slippers, and towels. Everything was neatly arranged and well-maintained, reflecting attention to guest comfort. The complimentary breakfast was another pleasant surprise. It offered a good variety of well-prepared options, making it a satisfying way to start each day. The location is highly convenient, close to the Xiamen International Convention & Exhibition Center, with California Plaza Shopping Mall next door offering numerous dining choices. Whether for business or leisure, the hotel is an excellent option. Most importantly, the nightly rate was very reasonable and offered excellent value, especially considering the themed décor, balcony, full amenities, and included breakfast. The stay exceeded our expectations. We would gladly choose this room again on our next visit. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Highly recommended!

This isn't my first time staying here, and I really love it; the experience is consistently great. The breakfast selection changes a bit daily, always featuring authentic Southern Fujian specialties. There's a wide variety and the food tastes excellent. The room is also very dorm-like, quiet, and the bed is fantastic, leading to naturally high-quality sleep. The only minor downside is that the pool isn't very big, but the water quality is excellent. Also, our butler, Merry, took great care of us. For example, she'd ask what we wanted refilled in the minibar and prepared turn-down service nightly before we came back (which included a pre-sleep dessert, a floor mat next to the bed, and indoor slippers).

Pros: 1. The location is excellent, very close to the scenic area. It's super convenient for dining and shopping. There's also a Sanfu and a 7-Eleven downstairs, and Cotti Coffee from the first floor can be delivered directly to your room. 2. The front desk staff's service attitude was great; they pretty much fulfilled every request and even agreed to upgrade our room type. Although it was a less desirable 'end room,' it was acceptable. When we needed disposable chopsticks, cups, etc., they brought them up without hesitation, and extra blankets were provided free of charge. 3. The room's overall cleanliness was good. The bedding was clean, with no stains or hair. The showerhead in the bathroom also had no water marks or limescale. Thumbs up! Cons: 1. The hotel seems to have been open for quite a while; the linens are pretty old, which made me a bit hesitant to use them. There were large oil stains on the table surface; I tried to wipe them off, but they wouldn't budge, which was a bit off-putting. I hope they can add a tablecloth to cover it. 2. Please remember to disinfect the sink in the restroom; it had a strong odor. 3. The message board needs to be cleaned; there were pencil shavings as soon as I opened it. 4. Disposable items like the toothbrush were quite poor. The toothpaste and toothbrush were surprisingly separate, and the toothbrush was very uncomfortable to use—too big and too hard. 5. The pillows were average, and there were no special sleep pillows or buckwheat pillows available.
