4-Star Hotels in Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe

I found it! I know longer need to try a new hotel on my next trip to the Victoria Falls area. This was a new hotel for me as I travel for pleasure most but some mission work in the local and rural community. Very: beautiful comfortable and very clean Some luxury Food for all 3 meals was excellent And, price! I didn’t need to pay the high prices to get everything above. Oh, the Staff! Made my week+ stay absolutely wonderful. I could mention over 10 by name by I fear I’d miss somebody (or spell their name wrong).

The hotel was clean, has a wonderful vulture show at 1pm where they feed the vultures, great view of a watering hole and staff is excellent. Housekeeping came into the room every evening pulled the mosquito netting around the bed and sprayed the room. We did have a few issues. We made reservations for dinner at the restaurant and when we arrived we were told they did not get have the reservation. My husband told the bar manager who said she would handle it and I was at the bar when she was handling the reservation. I suspect that they did not lose our reservation but could not honor it for other reasons. I certainly was not happy about that. They also did not have reservations for a another party that was also traveling with us. The a/c is adequate and the key is to turn on the a/c and the ceiling fan. I would suggest to have laundry done somewhere else as there was a ”grease spot” on a shirt that was returned from laundry. I was able to remove the spot with soap and water. Additionally we were there with a tour and another couples luggage on our tour ended up on the wrong bus even though it was properly labeled. Very nice hotel but has some caveats.

The breakfast is good, of course it is a western breakfast. There are mosquito nets, but you must pay attention to mosquitoes. Starting at 9 am, a shuttle bus will be sent to the waterfall and the city center every hour. It is free and very convenient.

We had such a great time @ permsha lodge!! We felt so welcome, and it really felt like a big family. The rooms were great, and so was the food. Steven and the team are so nice. It's located in a good spot not too far away from the town centre. We did the dinner cruise on the Zambezi, and it was so much fun. We made some life-long friendships . We will be returning and will recommend to friends back home in Australia. Thanks, permusha lodge!!♥️

I particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which featured a variety of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Finally, the hotel's location was simply unbeatable. With its proximity to the Victoria Falls, I was able to explore the area easily and take in all the breathtaking natural beauty of this world wonder. The hotel also offers a range of activities, from river cruises to guided tours of the falls, ensuring that there was always something to do and see. In summary, the Azambezi Hotel is an outstanding destination that I would recommend to anyone looking for a luxurious and unforgettable experience in Zimbabwe's Victoria Falls. With its beautiful setting, exceptional service, and top-notch amenities, it truly exceeded my every expectation. Also if you are lucky you will see some animals roaming around the garden as I spotted this elephant at night in the car park!

This place is excellent. The level of care and attention that my family were shown was as good as I have experienced anywhere. My kids (12 & 15) literally want to go back just to stay here. Incredible rooms, amazing food and perfect service. If there was six stars, I would have awarded them. Quick tip, you can work with the team beforehand to book tours / experiences - their local knowledge is a real bonus.

Shongwe Lookout is a fantastic spot with so much to offer! The food was absolutely delicious, and the waitress (I’m so sorry I forgot her name) was amazing—attentive, friendly, and truly made the experience special. I have to say, this place made me fall in love with prawns! They prepared them perfectly—flavorful, juicy, and just right. The salad was equally impressive—fresh, crisp, and a great complement to the meal. The setting is also worth mentioning: it’s beautifully done, very clean, and creates a lovely, relaxed atmosphere to enjoy your meal. I’ll definitely be returning to Shongwe Lookout whenever I’m in the area. Highly recommended!
