Travelers Reviews of Oita Prefecture Hotels

Hoshino Resorts Kai Beppu

I was worried because there are many bad reviews. It turned out it wasn't that bad, though I doubt if it is worth the high price overall. The location is good, conveniently located near Kitahama bus service centre and Beppu Station. Locating the entrance is a challenge, especially when you are with luggage. The hotel staff a nice, but I can picture that if you dun speak a bit of Japanese, it might be a bit hard to communicate with the staff. The overall environment is nice, clean room and nice private onsen bath. A curtain is appropriate in the balcony for more privacy. It is a bit dark, both inside the room and in the corridor. Dining is nice, great food. know it's a common practice to have set time for dinner and breakfast, but as a first time visitor to Oita, the 5:30pm dinner time was too early for me. However, the 7:30pm was fully booked on my first day of visit. Breakfast started at 7:30 and it's too late for me to catch the train so I can visit Harmonyland. There could be more flexibility for dining options and time, considering the high price guests are charged. There are many activities and I love the outdoor footbath and the free coffee and tea service at the travelers' library. I would still recommend the hotel to visitors to Beppu.

Kannawa Onsen
I recently stayed at Kannawaen Sanso Ryokan, and it was a truly remarkable experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff’s warm hospitality made me feel welcomed and relaxed. The ryokan is set in a beautiful, serene location, surrounded by nature, offering a peaceful retreat from daily life. The room was spacious and tastefully decorated in traditional Japanese style, blending modern comforts with authentic charm. The private onsen attached to my room was a highlight, allowing me to unwind in soothing hot springs while taking in the picturesque views. What truly sets Kannawaen apart is the attention to detail and personalized service. The staff went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect, making me feel truly cared for throughout my stay. If you’re looking for a luxurious, tranquil getaway with impeccable service and a true Japanese experience, I highly recommend Kannawaen Sanso Ryokan. It’s a place we would love to visit again. Note: they provide shuttle from/to station with time slot! Convenient

The staff is very responsible, serious and enthusiastic All kinds of details are well controlled, from the check-in lead to the last departure, the same staff is responsible for our stay The room has a private soup, and I also went to the public soup outside. The designs are very relaxing. One berth and two meals, the food standard is very high, the meal is in a special dining area, the room has two floors, the tatami can be laid upstairs, there are also two single beds, quiet and quiet It takes 15 minutes to walk to the station, and it is easy to arrive with luggage. There is a car to leave. 3 minutes walk from Jinlin Lake

The hotel is managed in Japanese style, the service is very good, the staff are very enthusiastic and the arrangements are very considerate. The pick-up and drop-off are very good, making people feel at home. There are many hot springs in the hotel, all of which are very distinctive and comfortable. The ingredients used for breakfast, dinner and dinner are exquisitely made and very delicious. The service staff has waiters who can speak Chinese, which I like very much. Even the Japanese service staff who can't speak Chinese use mobile phone translation to introduce the dishes, which is very touching. The hotel also provides various yukatas for use, which is a great experience.

Rembrandt Hotel Oita

Very good 4-star hotel, the breakfast in the restaurant on the 1st floor offers a variety of local Oita cuisine, and dinner on the 14th floor has Camellia Teppanyaki and Fukino Japanese cuisine to choose from. I tried both cuisines in two nights. Very satisfied, thank you for the hospitality 🙏

When we went to check-in service staff, were very polite The room view is very good looking at the sea The hotel is relatively old-fashioned overall, but the rooms are clean The slightly worse problem is that the toilet has a dip smellThis thing is worse

Location is very nice, except there's a gravel road before reaching the hotel. It's around 10min drive from downtown so it's close enough. Hotel is old but quite authentic and highend. There's a nice bridge you need to cross before going to the main hotel area. There are 2 private onsen you can just walk in, they are right next to the river, very nice experience. there are some bugs around so i wouldn't say it's all clean, but you are next to the mountain so i guess cant expect too much. worst thing is i did not notice my booking which is $400 usd, did not include dinner and breakfast, which is very standard for a onsen ryokan. I had go out and buy my own food when i expected to be in a yukata and eating nice hotel food.

As most commenters said, the facility and furniture are indeed with certain ages. Location is good and window outside view is fabulous. The staff are nice except one male reception staff is a bit severed, he insisted the breakfast last order is 8:00am as both dinner and breakfast are sets for each person and well prepared on the table before your scheduled time. It is too early compares to global standard especially for a family with a 5 years old child,we were trying to require for the later timeframe but he shaked his head with no further assistance, while by next morning I saw there was another table guests arrived after 8:20am but their meal is also well-prepared on the table awaits for them. The food is very Japanese local style, fresh and special with different spices, good for a try

It is an old ryokan. The bathroom also needs to be equipped with hot and cold water. The size of the room is satisfactory. It's very cold, but you can control the heater. Although it is a weekend, the price is too expensive and you have to pay a 1000 yen hot spring tax even if you do not use the hot spring when you check out.
