Guest User**Absolutely fabulous gem of a hotel – we’re already planning our return!**
I’m almost reluctant to sing its praises too loudly in case we can’t get a reservation next time, but I simply cannot recommend The Ocean highly enough. This place is an absolute standout.
From the moment you arrive, the service is exceptional. The team is warm, highly attentive, and genuinely approachable – every single member made us feel like valued guests rather than just another booking. They anticipated our needs before we even asked, and nothing was ever too much trouble.
Breakfast was superb, with a wonderful selection to suit every taste and waistline. What really elevated it was the full table service – a lovely, touch that made the whole experience feel special and relaxed.
The hotel restaurant is an absolute must. After scouting every other option in the area, we ended up eating there both nights of our stay because it was, without question, the best find around. The menu offers a fantastic selection, everything is cooked fresh to order, and every dish we tried was outstanding. The portions are generous yet perfectly judged – so much so that we sadly couldn’t squeeze in a dessert, though the menu looked every bit as tempting as the mains.
The hotel itself has been decorated with real taste and care throughout. Our room was stunning – fresh, modern, and incredibly welcoming, while still feeling cosy and homely. It’s such a refreshing change from the usual tired, tacky seafront offerings; the team has clearly poured heart and soul into creating somewhere that feels both stylish and genuinely comforting.
Overall, The Ocean is a superb find – one of those rare places that ticks every box and leaves you smiling from check-in to check-out. We will definitely be back next time we’re in the area.
A huge thank you to the entire team at Ocean – you’ve set the bar incredibly high!

A Perfect Day at The Bedingfeld Arms!
What a truly wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, The Bedingfeld Arms delivered exactly what we were hoping for—and more. Nestled in a charming location, it felt like a gentle escape into the countryside, with just the right mix of warmth and ease.
The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. We lingered over our meal, not wanting it to end! The rooms were just what we needed: cozy, comfortable, and thoughtfully appointed. It was so lovely to wake up refreshed and step out into such a peaceful setting.
While some might wish for a slightly more “posh” or traditional pub feel—Tom did miss the classic old-world touches like dark walnut floors and the scent of oak smoke in the air—we both appreciated the light, airy ambiance and modern comfort. It’s clear The Bedingfeld Arms has found its own style, and it’s working beautifully.
Altogether, it was a delightful, cheerful, and refreshing day, and we’re so glad we chose to spend it here. Thank you to everyone at The Bedingfeld Arms for making it so special—we can’t wait to return!

Guest UserThe room was an accessible room and there was plenty of space and the bed was very comfortable.
The breakfast was very tasty and hot. Plenty of choices
The only poor issue was a nasty smell in the bathroom. We needed to spray deodorant in there before use. Sadly this was not what we expected.

This is an English country house and golf course with gothic features and a suit or armour, It's a little faded but clean, although there are some budget rooms that feel bit basic. The location is on the edge of the city and you can walk in the grounds and garden as weather allows, but don't wander all over the course, The staff is friendly and efficient and the swimming pool and sauna are good. It can get busy with regular users though and swimming lessons, so timing is needed.
The restaurant is a little dark and the food selection is not particularly wide. The bar is ok but will fill up with large parties from time to time. Weddings, family reunions, coach trips etc.
On the whole though a satisfactory stay and I have used it a few times.

Guest UserGood points are the cleaningness and the amenities such as the jacuzzi. Staying in September weekday was quiet.
Bad points the strong smell in the apartment that seems to have humidity problems. The sofa was uncomfortable if someone plans to sleep there.
Surroundings outside the complex are beautiful, there's a path on the top car park.
Parking was very limited on the top.

A faultless experience from the friendly check-in to smooth check-out. The room had everything needed and the bed was comfortable. Location is ideal for being in the centre of town. Would definitely stay again.

Looks a little run down outside and quite dated inside.
We spent one night in a twin room which was reasonably clean however i would suggest they upgrade the mattress protectors. Nice little complementary tray with water, tea coffee sugar and biscuits.
Staff on reception were very friendly.
We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment.
Overall stay was good.

Guest UserWe were very pleased with the hotel.
The receptionist was very friendly and helpful.
The grounds were well maintained and elegant with nice seating outside.
The breakfast staff were also friendly and efficient. We were disappointed that the restaurant is not open Sunday evenings
but that did not spoil our stay. We didn’t use
the leisure facilities but will should we visit again.

The summer room is a small cosy unit attached to the main house with a separate entrance. It's about 30 minutes's walk to the city centre. We preferred not to walk the quiet streets after dinner to get back to the flat. There are a lot of parking options and it's a flat rate of 3 to 4 quids after 5 pm to the next day.
