The George Hotel
4.1/556 Reviews
The location is on the main street, opposite Martha and McDonald's, and there are plenty of places to visit. There is a castle on the left hand side. The first floor of the hotel is a small restaurant, very comfortable, you can have breakfast, afternoon tea, and so on. The service is very welcoming and will help with the luggage to the room. The downside is that there is no elevator, but if the baggage is heavy, there will be a waiter to help, don't worry. The hotel is relatively large, Wi-Fi is not too stable, depending on the floor.

We stopped at this Hotel on 17th September 2022 The Hotel is well placed in a good location, from the hotel there is a transfer bus to the airport every 30-minutes cost £4.00 per person payable on the bus. We booked the hotel through Holiday Extras and the cost included 7-days parking at the hotel, the car parks were large and secure, and you keep the car keys, we had no problems finding a parking space. The room we had was clean and spacious and we could not fault. We ate in the Hotel's Restaurant, the food and drinks were reasonably priced, and our waiter Dimitar was very polite and attenuative. If flying from Stanstead Airport again I would choose this hotel
Delta Hotels Waltham Abbey

This is a really lovely hotel with very good amenities. My only moan was that the car park is strictly pay no exceptions £4 to park your car at a hotel where you are staying seems a bit wrong. Although it wouldn’t necessarily put us off going again there are alternative hotels in the area that have free parking for guests.
Holiday Inn Colchester

Good points- Lisa front of house team is a wonderful asset to you, together with the two ladies from the restaurant (sorry didn't get your names). Bad points - outweigh the good sadly. Room was filthy, sheets had the appearance of been slept in and had blood on them. The sofa bed which wasn't made up when we arrived (quickly sorted by Lisa) the mattress protector was soiled. Given these couple of things we glanced at the floor to find that the carpet hadn't seen a vacuum for a while and the previous guests had obviously enjoyed some bombay mix and a couple of chocolate bars as their bits and wrappers were left by the bed. Note this wasn't UNDER the bed, we weren't brave enough for that it was simply next to it. It also appeared the previous guests had made off with the shower gel and spoons. To top off our frightful stay where the dirty linen from all the rooms had been thrown down the stairs the following day we were welcomed by a cockroach scuttling off for it's meal, we nearly stopped it to tell it our room number if it fancied a snack on the carpet buffet in our room. We were promised the room would be deep cleaned the following day and yes the sheets were clean and towels fab but the carpet obviously was a bit too hard for them. To say holiday inn pride themselves on their cleanliness is beyond a joke. It made our stay there very unpleasant and stressful. We were not offered another room as they were fully booked.
Cbh County Hotel

Reception staff very friendly and helpful. When I tried to check in the staff didn’t have my name but only my friends even though I was the one that paid for the room? Bar food was nice enough but quite expensive over £18 for 1 panini, 1 chips, soft drink & a tea! Room was clean and tidy and very quiet but unfortunately didn’t have the best sleep as bed was really uncomfortable, springs coming through the mattress and really lumpy hard pillows also which was a shame! Stayed there as music event was on at the Colchester Park and looked like it was the nearest hotel to it but walking there was a bit tricky as had to go across a main road and through a dodgy alleyway behind an industrial building which wasn’t signposted after the event had to walk the long way around through the town to get back to the hotel.
Holiday Inn Basildon, an IHG Hotel

Great size room. Advertised as 4star….don’t know in what year that would be…more a 2star! Window cill & wall in bedroom really rotten, dated furniture, all a bit scruffy, had to keep window open as room a bit smelly but then was really noisy through the night with lorry deliveries, extracter fan in bathroom not working so really steamy, cracks in tiles where shower is, rotten door frame in bathroom too. Didn’t complain at time as only staying 2 nights just to sleep - sheets etc nice & clean but pillows not comfortable, old & sunken. Wouldn’t stay again.
Hamiltons Boutique Hotel

We really enjoyed our stay for many reasons- + the suite had beautiful views from the balcony of the park, trees and sea in the distance, especially in the afternoon sun. + the staff were warm, welcoming and Debbie’s advice was really helpful - restaurants, places to visit, parking etc. + the rooms were very comfortable, clean, warm and heating/ventilation very adjustable. + suite was well equipped, very comfy bed and everything worked as it should - great shower, TVs, etc with couple of treats on arrival + building and interiors stylish and all in a central location but still quiet +We went for a short mid-winter break to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and look forward to returning. We highly recommend this lovely hotel.
Kingscliff Hotel
4.1/567 Reviews
We were very happy with our stay at Kings cliff hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful during our check-in and when we used the bar in the evening and the restaurant for breakfast. It's fantastically situated on the sea front and was about half an hour walk along the coast from Clacton centre. The hotel itself was very clean and tidy and generally in good condition. Overall a positive experience and a recommendation from me.
