The Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel (Dunhuang Shanzhuang) is the most luxurious accommodation option in town. Located just outside of town, this hotel has a large range of rooms from standard to suites and villas.A little inconvenient for travelers interested in spending most of their time in downtown Dunhuang, the hotel does have plenty of amenities and entertainment rooms to keep their guests entertained. There is a shuttle bus that runs to and from town.
"I checked in on September 5th, and the price was almost 1300. I just want to say, it was extremely bad value for money. It felt like paying 1300 to stay in a guesthouse. Luckily, I only stayed one night; if I had stayed two, I would have demanded a full refund! The moment I stepped into the hotel, I had a bad feeling, and I was right! Firstly, the service was mediocre, just average. Secondly, we arrived at noon and ordered room service. A plate of vegetarian dumplings for over 30 yuan – I have good reason to suspect they were frozen. And they were served on a plastic plate! After charging a 20% service fee, couldn't they at least use a white porcelain bowl? That wouldn't cost much, would it? The other dishes weren't very good either. Thirdly, the bedding was truly unbearable! I brought disposable bedding, and I didn't need to use it at any other hotel, only at yours! It's genuinely worse than an economy hotel! The hotel is old, and the hardware can't be changed, but couldn't you at least use better soft furnishings? The bath towels were thin and old. Surely, it wouldn't cost much to get better quality ones. I've traveled a lot and I'm not very particular, but your bedding and bath towels were the first that I simply couldn't bring myself to use! Fourthly, I booked this hotel thinking it was close to Mingsha Mountain, worried about getting a taxi at night. But it's actually still a 15-minute walk. Plus, there are plenty of taxis and buses available from Mingsha Mountain at night; outside of the summer holiday, staying in the city center would have been fine. The only praise I have is that the breakfast was pretty good. The beef noodles were freshly made, which I commend. Coffee was also offered."

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast spread is generous, with delicious beef noodles and onion rings. It’s very close to the north entrance of the scenic area, and the sunset over the Rainbow Mountains (Qicai Danxia) is stunning. We entered twice, but you can’t re-enter on the same day, you have to go back the next day – what a ridiculous rule! No wonder it didn’t make it onto the 'Top 100 Most Beautiful Places in Dushan' list."

"Overall, it was decent and the price matched the conditions. The pros are the good location, spacious room, and nice breakfast. My first issue is I don't understand why checking in was such a hassle, especially since it's not a holiday like National Day or Chinese New Year. They told me at past 4 PM that my room wasn't ready yet. Second, after I finally checked in, the front desk staff told me I could have booked through their mini-program, and the price would have been 20% lower than what I paid. I was speechless. Saying that in front of my friend completely undermined me, didn't it? Either don't say anything, or help me rebook at the lower mini-program price on the spot. Why did they have to expose me in front of others? My third point is also about the front desk. When checking in, they said the mini-bar drinks were complimentary. But when I got to my room, there were only two bottles of mineral water. When I asked the front desk, they replied that this was the standard for my room type, but they could provide more if I wanted. This response left me not knowing whether to laugh or cry. If that's the standard, then they shouldn't have said the drinks were complimentary in the first place..."

"Overall, I was very satisfied. My friends and I, two families in total, stayed for two nights.
Facilities: For a guesthouse, the facilities like the pool and terrace are quite complete. Although the footprint is small, it has everything you'd expect.
Cleanliness: The rooms were clean and tidy. All the amenities were from good brands, high quality, and safe to use.
Environment: Although it's in a guesthouse cluster, the environment and conditions are clearly far superior to other guesthouses nearby. It's a quiet oasis amidst the hustle and bustle, with a serene and mysterious ambiance as soon as you enter.
Service: The hotel is very close to the Mingsha Mountain scenic area. I especially want to thank the manager for the pick-up and drop-off service. Since I can't eat iodized salt, the manager personally cooked a non-iodized Chinese meal for me – egg-fried rice and stir-fried seasonal vegetables. The kids absolutely loved it.
Surprise: During our stay, the owner even hosted a music and BBQ party! Delicious food, good wine, and a live music teacher made for an incredible atmosphere!

"The hotel is very new, and the front desk service was excellent. I had to switch rooms midway through my stay, and repacking would have been very inconvenient, so they made an effort to clean the new room early for me to move in directly. However, it felt like the front desk staff wasn't very familiar with the booking platforms. Since I booked through different platforms, I was asked multiple times if I had extended my stay. Also, perhaps because the renovation is too recent, there's a slight lingering smell of new construction, so those who are sensitive should be aware."

The hotel's location is excellent, right opposite Shazhou Night Market. The room decor is also very nice. I forgot to take pictures of breakfast, but they had a great selection of cold dishes, hot dishes, fruits, and drinks. There's parking available right in front of the hotel and also an underground garage. In the evening, after visiting Crescent Spring, we took the free shuttle bus that drops you near the hotel, and it was only a 7-8 minute walk back to rest. So convenient! Plus, the room even has a bathtub, perfect for the kids to soak in after a tiring day.
From its location to its service, this hotel is simply perfect. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Dunhuang!!

I cannot recommend this exquisite home stay highly enough! My five-day visit was nothing short of perfection, from the moment I arrived until my warm departure.
As a female solo traveler from abroad, safety and welcome are my top priorities, and this family went above and beyond to make me feel like part of their home. My journey began with a incredibly gracious complimentary pick-up from Dunhuang airport, which immediately eased any travel fatigue.
The hospitality only blossomed from there. The host family provided me with such genuine individual attention, offering personalized advice for visiting the breathtaking Crescent Moon Lake and the awe-inspiring Mogao Grottoes. Their tips were invaluable and helped me experience these wonders to the fullest.
Now, the food! Each meal was a delight—authentic, home-cooked, and prepared fresh with so much care. It was truly delicious and gave me a real taste of local cuisine.
My room was a haven of comfort and cleanliness, kept absolutely spotless throughout my stay. A wonderful daily touch was the replenishment of complimentary beverages: refreshing peach tea, pure water, and delicious coconut water—perfect after a day of exploring the desert.
The most touching moment came upon my departure when the hosts presented me with exquisite souvenirs from the Mogao Grottoes. It was a gesture of such kindness and generosity that I will forever cherish.

FaliangwangzhegirlThis stay was absolutely delightful! I was initially worried about the location being a bit out of the way, so I only booked one night. To my surprise, getting a taxi on the first night was super easy, so we extended our stay. While there aren't other guesthouses right around ours, we noticed a whole street full of guesthouses nearby, which seemed crowded and noisy. At night, lying in bed, you can hear the wind brushing against the walls, but it's not loud; it actually feels like being in harmony with nature. My husband and I also went gold panning – if you find gold coins, you can exchange them for prizes. We went enthusiastically, expecting a small sandbox like in a park, but it was a massive area!
**Mingsha Mountain View Afternoon Tea:** The chilled apricot peel tea was delicious.
**Fengmingsha Desert Restaurant - 30% off coupon for set meals:** After we landed, the butler collected our luggage and told us hotpot was ready, just waiting for us to freshen up and eat. The lamb wasn't ***** at all, and the dipping sauce was really tasty.

AganguilaiThe Atour Hotel (Dunhuang Shazhou Night Market North Gate) is absolutely the best accommodation in Dunhuang! It's right downstairs to the night market, making it super convenient for food and shopping, and a short taxi ride to all major attractions. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive, proactively explaining travel routes and even providing shoe covers. The rooms are clean, spacious, and have excellent soundproofing, with incredibly comfortable bedding. The laundry and shoe drying facilities are a godsend for desert travel, and the breakfast offers a fantastic array of local specialty snacks. It's a rare find – quiet and comfortable despite being in the heart of the bustling city, with impeccable service details and fantastic value for money. If you're coming to Dunhuang, book this place with your eyes closed!

The parking lot in the backyard is also quite large. Although there's a cat room next to the elevator on the first floor, there's no pet odor, probably thanks to good cat litter. The room is spacious, with a foot bath tub and a treadmill.

Guest UserOn a self-driving tour, I decided to stay here last minute and was pleasantly surprised! As soon as I turned into the parking lot, a staff member came over to guide me. They helped with my luggage every step of the way, and everyone I encountered greeted me proactively. The front desk gave me a sand protection neck gaiter and a voucher for congee in the evening. In the room, there were welcome snacks, yogurt, and plenty of water. They also provided free chargers and a humidifier. There's even a foot bath at the self-service laundry room, with disposable bath bags for hygiene. The breakfast was absolutely amazing, definitely 4-star+! So many varieties, better than many 4.7+ hotels in the city. They also offer shuttle service. I'll definitely be back!

We made a mistake choosing this hotel: the word “international” led us to believe it would be better prepared to receive foreign guests, but that was not our experience.
That said, the staff’s service was excellent at all times. Although they did not speak English, they consistently made the effort to use translation tools to communicate with us and assist us in the best possible way, which we truly appreciated.
The hotel was almost empty. The first breakfast took place in a huge dining area where we were the only guests, which meant the variety was quite limited. There was some Chinese food and a coffee machine, but there were no options commonly expected by international travelers, such as fruit, cereals, yogurt, or bread. That same day, we were informed that the rest of the breakfasts would be delivered directly to our room. The staff made a continuous effort to ensure we felt comfortable with this arrangement, confirming the delivery time with us each day.
The room was spacious and comfortable. However, the cleanliness did not match the hotel’s level and price: the carpet had visible stains, and finding a toothpick at the entrance made it clear that cleaning standards were not adequate. In addition, the amount of shampoo and soap provided was extremely limited—again, not consistent with the quality one would expect given the building and overall appearance of the hotel.
In summary, we would like to highlight the kindness and dedication of the staff, but we believe the hotel still has important aspects to improve, especially regarding international standards and cleanliness.

We had a fantastic experience staying here. From the moment we checked in, the staff was exceptionally kind, attentive, and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile.
The room exceeded our expectations—it was spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. A special mention goes to the bathroom: the shower had fantastic water pressure and steady hot water, which made winding down after a long day so refreshing.
The location is another major plus. There are numerous excellent dining options right outside the hotel, making it incredibly convenient to grab a great meal without having to travel far.
Overall, a seamless and enjoyable stay. Highly recommended, and we would definitely return!

Usually, when I'm in Zhangye for business, I just pick any hotel, but this time I chose it because a friend told me how beautiful Ganzhou Fucheng is and that there are lots of great food options to explore. So, I picked the Holiday Inn Express that's really close to Ganzhou Fucheng. As soon as I walked into the lobby, the staff greeted me warmly and quickly helped me check in, even upgrading me to a room with a view of Ganzhou Fucheng. The room was incredibly spacious and quiet. From my room, I could see the entire Zhangye Wetland Park and the Ganzhou Fucheng night market. After work, I went to the Ganzhou Fucheng night market, browsed around, and even had some delicious Fried Bola. The hotel room was clean and tidy, the staff provided excellent service, and the breakfast was incredibly rich and varied. They even offered me a complimentary late check-out. This stay was absolutely perfect, and I'll definitely come back if I have the chance!
