We stayed here for 3 nights. It’s a nice hotel with friendly staff. It’s the small things that bother me like on the 2nd floor at the elevator only the up button can be pressed. At breakfast, at 09:00 when we came for breakfast the eggs were cold. The next day we had a pickup at 07:10 and they said breakfast starts at 06;00. I guess nobody told the kitchen staff. They only put out the food at 06:25 and the eggs were cold. The 3rd day we went down at 06:20 and everyone still had to wait for them. And guess what, the eggs were cold. The rooms are nice and you have a nice view from the room to lake Argentina.

I am a psychotherapist and needed a private space at one point during my stay to have a session with a client who was in crisis. They were able to provide me that space and were quite sympathetic. It was easily walkable to town each day, and we had no problem arranging a tour to take us to the glacier. For an extra charge, the hotel was able to provide us a very nice lunch for the time that we were at the glacier. We dined in the restaurant for dinner two of the nights, and both experiences were wonderful. The food was top-notch for dinner, and the cocktails were also superb! The breakfast each morning, which I believe was included, was absolutely delicious! There were a lot of healthy options provided. I would also like to highly recommend the medical facility that was quite close to the hotel, TMSALUD. I had an issue with my knee and got in quickly to have a consult with Dr. Gimenez, who was INCREDIBLE! Overall, I would absolutely recommend this hotel not only for the accommodations, but for location to all the attractions nearby.

We find the restaurant the best of the trip and with good prices. The staff are extremely efficient and efficient.Special mention to Mariano and Valentina. The hotel does not have lifts and TV in the room. We would be there again next time.

The hotel is on a hill 5-blocks above main street (with all of the restaurants, shops), so a car is an asset; however, for those without, they offer an evening shuttle with a local taxi for less than $1. Plenty of free parking is available. The hotel is in two buildings, each on its own terrace. Our superior doubles were on the upper terrace in the building with reception and the restaurant. Both were spacious, although one had a large entry area and more plush furnishings. There was a king bed with side tables, an open cabinet for clothes, safe, mini-refrigerator, TV, and two chairs and a table by the window with a view of the lake over the front building. It was fronted by a terrace with some lawn furniture that was accessible by going through the lobby or simply stepping out over the low-silled window. We didn't use it, though, because of the howling, cold wind at this time of year. The room was heated by a sub-floor system with no controller in the room; we found it too warm, so had to prop the window open at night. Breakfast was good, with a choice of eggs, fresh-squeezed orange juice, mimosas, and the regular ham, cheese, and baked items. The staff were friendly and helpful. They stored a bag for us while we were on our excursion to Ushuaia, and were helpful in arranging a taxi to get us to our 8 am bus to Chile. A pleasant and comfortable boutique hotel.

A modest aging property located in the small town of Califate that provides a convenient base for exploring the nearby lake and natural wonders. It looks quite stately from the lobby and exterior but the rooms and especially the bathrooms are long over due for an upgrade. We stayed for two nights at the end of January as part of a tour to visit glaciers and national parks. We stayed in a king room on the 2nd floor. While perfectly clean and comfortable it was definitely a step down from other hotels on this trip-comparable to a mid-scale spot in the US. Like other area hotels in Patagonia, there is no Ac due to the normally cool climate and heat is provide via antiquated radiators. Luckily there was a large sliding window to open but without any cross ventilation or fan to move air, the room felt stuffy. The small bathroom was at least 20 years old with outdated fixtures like the tub/shower combo and a tiny single sink with antiquated faucet and sputtering water pressure. Bath amenities were also very basic. Breakfast was included and while there were many selections, items were largely packaged and canned foods set out like canned pears, cold cuts, and processed meats and cheese. As I said, despite the woeful lack of creature comforts, as a place to crash for a couple of nights it was perfectly adequate.

Positives: - clean room, although part of the bed was broken (the mattress on one side had slightly collapsed) - good wifi - friendly staff - okay breakfast buffet - plentiful, easy and complimentary parking - nice location outside town. The taxis are cheap and easy to use. Negatives: - tried to book treatments at the spa, but was informed it's fully booked. The hotel could inform customers of the need to pre-book before arrival. - the room contained no slippers. Was informed we could get them from the spa but was met by an almost scary lady who demanded a deposit (!!) for SLIPPERS. It would also, apparently, have required filling in forms (:D ). At this point, I didn't know whether I should cry or laugh and decided that the slippers were most definitely not worth the time and effort. - the complimentary shuttle only requires pre-booking TO town and I wouldn't count on using it coming back from town since it appeared to be the survival of the quickest queue-jumper... - two cleaners, on two separate occasions, tried to enter our room even though the ”Do not disturb” sign was hanging on the know and we were trying to sleep. The first try was at 9.30 in the morning! I was absolutely furious. - housekeeping began cleaning rooms at 7 am with zero regard for customers in their rooms. They came armed with extremely loud walkie-talkies so good look having a sleep-in (oh, but that won't be possible anyway as someone will forcefully enter your room even though there's a Do not disturb sign....) - lousy sound isolation between other rooms as well as between the room and hallway. We could hear what TV programme our neighbour was watching and exactly what they were doing in the bathroom. In conclusion, this hotel has great potential but needs to focus more on the small details and the customer experience.

The Design Suite Hotel is exactly what it is called. It is a very design and very beautiful hotel. It should be the best view hotel in Calafate to see the Lake of Argentina. Each room has a whole window overlooking the lake. While slowly admiring the beautiful lake view, snow peaks, blue sky and white clouds. The restaurant is very beautiful, the breakfast is rich, the taste is good, the service is very warm, and the English is very good. It is very intimate that you can order a lunch set on the glacier hike, and there are oversized sandwiches, apples, water, chocolate pie, and energy bars, which are very worthwhile. Walk along the lake to the town center in about half an hour, and also pass through the wetland park. There are buses to and from the airport to pick up and drop off, following the bus is equivalent to a day trip to the town! All in all, very good value for money.

After brilliant experiences all over Argentina, Arakur in Ushuaia, Los Cerros in El Chalten, to hotels in Bariloche, BA. Mendoza etc, we were excited to stay here at Lagos. How disappointing. The breakfast was the quality of a hotel one third the price. They could not control guests at 1am from running up and down hallways, partying in rooms. The walls have no insulation, so my wife could hear snoring through her ear plugs, through a wall. The staff were obnoxiously rude. The rooms dated, no free water. At least they were clean. The lobby is nice, the pool beautiful. The chainsaw, mower and other power tools all day outside window, for three days though has been testing. Ask to speak to manager and got nothing. Changing rooms to cheaper one but not getting refundwas also hard. Do not recommend
