The restaurants were equally impressive, serving delicious dishes prepared with care and refinement. I was also particularly grateful for the thoughtful gesture of being offered a complimentary two-hour late checkout, which made my departure day far more relaxed. In addition, the hotel kindly granted me access to the lounge with its generous buffet while I was waiting for my evening flight — a level of hospitality that truly reflects their commitment to guest comfort. "We just spent five amazing nights at Moxy Kathmandu, and honestly, it was such a great stay. The hotel has this cool, stylish vibe, and everything felt super clean — the rooms were really comfy too. But what really made our trip was the service. The front desk, housekeeping, and restaurant staff were all so welcoming and polite, and their genuine, proactive attitude just warmed our hearts. Special shout-out to Kritan from the restaurant — not only does he speak fluent Chinese and English, but his attentive service and friendly smile were definitely one of the highlights of our stay. Hotel Yak & Yeti is located in the heart of Kathmandu at Durbar Marg . The hotel began with 120 beautifully designed rooms. Today, it has grown to offer 241 rooms, blending classic charm with modern comfort. Staying at Yak & Yeti feels like walking through a living museum. The interiors are adorned with intricate artwork, antique treasures, and traditional Nepali designs that tell stories of the country's rich heritage. Outside, the lush gardens offer a peaceful escape, complete with green lawns, a serene pond, and striking sculptures that add to the hotel's charm. One of the hotel’s most iconic features is the Lal Durbar Convention Center, a restored part of the historic Lal Durbar Palace. Built in 1890 by Prime Minister Bir Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana for his son Rudra, the palace showcases a unique mix of European, Persian, and Nepali architectural styles. Though parts of it were lost over time, the Saraf family dedicated nearly forty years to lovingly restoring it. Today, it serves as an elegant venue for weddings, meetings, and grand events. Guests can also enjoy browsing the shopping arcade, where local crafts and souvenirs let you take home a piece of Nepal. In the waiting area, you’ll find a colorful, eye-catching gazebo created by contemporary artist Tsherin Sherpa. The artwork reimagines traditional Tibetan Buddhist motifs with modern influences, creating a space where sacred traditions meet global culture. From the vibrant Ganesha statue to traditional panas (oil lamps) and fine architectural details, every corner of Yak & Yeti radiates Nepali character. At the reception, the beautifully carved aakhi jhyal, a traditional wooden window greets you with timeless elegance. With warm hospitality, royal touches, and a deep connection to Nepal’s past and present, Hotel Yak & Yeti promises a truly memorable experience in the capital.

"Great, especially the porters… warm and thoughtful. The front desk was also fantastic… patient and communicative! The only issue was the hotel taxi to the airport which charged an unreasonable 2000 Nepalese rupees."

"For Nepal, this hotel is really top-notch. The environment is superb, and every staff member is incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar offer great service, delicious food, and reasonable prices. Every Sunday and Tuesday morning from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM, they offer a tour to the Pashupatinath Temple, and the manager's commentary is really engaging! It's definitely worth getting up early for! The only minor improvements I'd suggest are that after a certain time in the afternoon, full room cleaning is no longer provided, only a turndown service. Tissues weren't refilled, and used tea cups were simply put back in place without being cleaned. Also, there are no charging ports on either side of the beds, which is a small oversight."

"★★★★★ I recently stayed at Hotel Barahi Kathmandu for 2 nights and 3 days during my trip to Nepal. To start with the conclusion, this is a hotel I would gladly stay at again. When I evaluate a hotel, I don't judge it solely on luxury or facilities. What matters most to me is how the people working at the hotel interact with their guests. Hotel Barahi Kathmandu was a very impressive hotel in that regard. From check-in to check-out, every staff member – at the front desk, in the restaurant, and from housekeeping – greeted me with natural smiles. It didn't feel like formal customer service because I was a 'guest,' but rather as if they were treating me as an individual. The hotel's location is also excellent. While it's within walking distance to the Thamel area, upon returning to the hotel, you find a calm space where you can forget the hustle and bustle of the city. It's a very convenient hotel for both sightseeing and staying. I also enjoyed breakfast every day. Beyond the variety of dishes, Nepali cuisine was also offered, which was great for a traveler like me to easily enjoy local flavors. On the other hand, there was noise in my room at night, and there was one day when I couldn't get enough rest. This was disappointing. However, what impressed me even more was the hotel staff's response afterward. They listened carefully to my concerns and addressed each issue without downplaying it. Their attitude conveyed a strong desire to 'improve the guest's stay.' During my travels, I pay close attention not only to the hotel's facilities but also to the people working there. No matter how grand the building, if the people aren't good, I wouldn't want to stay at that hotel again. Hotel Barahi Kathmandu was a hotel where I felt human warmth. Of course, there are always areas for improvement. But this hotel has an attitude of being willing to address those areas. That was of great value to me. That's why if I have the opportunity to visit Nepal again, I would choose this hotel once more. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to all the front desk staff, restaurant staff, and housekeeping who kindly assisted me during my stay. Thanks to all of you, this hotel became more than just an accommodation; it became a part of my wonderful memories of Nepal. Thank you very much."

"We knew the service would be good as soon as we booked, and within hours we received a welcome email, listing the ways we could contact them if we needed to. On the pick up at the airport, they were speedy and efficient and the taxi ride only took us 20 minutes with traffic. As we walked through the door we were blown away by the interior decoration, only then to find that hotel had been a former palace! Historic artifacts and pictures were strewn through the hallways and the outside only matched the royal feel with perfection. We stayed in the royal suite, with a big bed and balcony. The staff were great, the breakfast was standard for off peak times and although the location isn't in the depth of Thamel, the area most will go out for eating and drinking, it was within 30 minutes drive of most landmarks and as it was the ambassedy/ office worker area, there was a nice vibe. There were some things that can't be controlled. The hotel did a good job of providing heat as the weather in February is still chilly. The pollution was real. Especially as you walk nearer the streets, something to think about if you are sensitive to this. Apart from that, It was all really wonderful. Niraj Yadav the receptionist and the team, we thank you dearly."

The hotel service is very professional, the breakfast is rich, and the front desk service is warm and thoughtful. When I asked for water, it was delivered quickly. There is also a hair dryer in the hotel, and the hot water for bathing is very comfortable. Many Chinese people go to other places to find Chinese food, but they find that the most authentic Chinese food is on the ninth floor above the hotel. And the chocolate brownie here is very authentic. It was supposed to be eaten with ice cream, but I asked for hot ice cream, and the hotel immediately made hot ice cream. There is the largest farmer's market in Kathmandu next to the hotel, and 6 big apples cost less than 20 yuan. You can buy all kinds of vegetables and fruits here. Because Kathmandu is often congested, if you connect with a flight, the hotel is very close to the airport, which is another big advantage.

Nice Old Hotel, Great Staff with few needs to improve. Swimming pool is totally disappointment. Better to shut down, than keep running and not swimmable, waist of energy. The water is dirty, no star at all. The lobby, the room and Ghurka bar are still great. 2 power shutdowns in 1 day, I believe they are struggling with power shortages due to dark lounges. Breakfast was so so, coffee or tea should be not a challenge to serve first, sometimes took half of meal before they come. Many Tables are not stable and aligned, egg can easily roll over to other side. Atleast 3 tables on my experience. Room is comfortable, nice bed and always fresh linen. Only noisy from AC , maintenance team came twice on my room to fix, though transfer was offered on my last 2 days. Managers should not standing in buffet line, either they should help the line staffs or directing the team, talking business in public is not of our guests concern. Front desk Trainee, has good presence, I thought first he is manager. A lot can be improved and polished, the hotel has a great potential, nice design, great facilities and great staffs. I wish that management should look all themselves and review those small details.

This is one of the few modern and sophisticated hotels you'll find in Nepal. I booked a room without breakfast because my schedule was uncertain. After arriving and seeing the hotel's condition, I decided to book breakfast for the next day. The international buffet offered a diverse and clean selection of food, and it was delicious. Amidst the chaos and noise of Kathmandu, I had a quiet and clean stay here and left feeling well-rested. The quality was much higher than a 300,000 won hotel in Pokhara.
