Risorgimento Resort

We booked the Risorgimento Resort as we needed to find a hotel in Lecce that could store our bicycles, which limited our options. We chose this hotel also because of its central location and 5* rating. We assumed it would be quite a luxurious property. Whilst it was ok, it wasn’t a 5* hotel despite its 5* price. We booked an executive room for EUR 211 which was quite expensive relative to other similar properties in Lecce. The hotel’s website states that some of the executive rooms have a balcony overlooking the old town or inner courtyard. Ours had neither a balcony nor a view. It looked directly onto a wall. Although spacious with a separate dressing area and large bathroom, the room was dark and slightly dated. As a previous reviewer mentioned, we were pretty sure there were better rooms available in this category but we had been given one of the worst. Given the hotel had few guests staying in this quiet period it gave us he feeling that the staff and management are not particularly customer focussed. The breakfast was very good and included a delicious display of freshly baked Il Pasticciotto… amazing! There were also choices of Pistachio Croissants, Chocolate Croissants or the famous “Empty Croissant” lol. We did receive a bowl of grapes and some mini brownies in the room which we thought were a nice touch however the brownies tasted stale and we noticed that the ‘best by’ date had expired by over a month. Oh well…

A stunning hotel. Some rooms have a lovely view of Santa Croce. Extremely well located. Lovely staff. Santa Croce suite divine. Breakfast was superb. Great valet parking. Lovely bed. A lovely hotel that we would go back to. Not cheap but this is luxury - all the hotel meets luxury standards. Not cheap but very much worth it. We really enjoyed our stay. Cannot fault it really.

Very nice hotel, right by the sea. The room has a small balcony to see the sea blowing, very comfortable. Breakfast is on the sixth floor and it is also an unrivalled sea view. About ten minutes walk around, it is the central location of the local area. There are shopping malls, restaurants and bars, which is very lively. Take a taxi to the train station 8 euros.

This beachfront property in San Foca is absolutely lovely. We booked for two nights at the end of our two week trip to Italy with the idea of relaxing on the beach after lots of sightseeing and it was absolutely perfect. The level of service at this hotel is excellent and something I wish many of the high end hotels in the US would return to. I would say there is an average of two hotel staff members to every guest. The hotel is very modern with beautiful, spacious rooms and bathrooms. We were on the second floor with a large balcony overlooking the ocean. There are two pools, one on the rooftop with and one on the first floor at the back of the hotel which was nice the day we arrived as it was windy and that one is sheltered more from the wind. There is also a pool at the spa but we did not visit the spa during our stay. We dined in the restaurant the first evening for dinner and the food and service were fantastic. We also elected to include breakfast each day in our stay and it was top notch. In addition to a huge spread of pastries and fruit, there cooked to order options from the menu included. And as with everything else, the service was quick and delivered with a smile. We also spent a day at their club, Mora Mora. The service was on point and the water and beach there are beautiful. It looks like the Carribean sea! We did not have a good meal at the restaurant there, however. We both ordered the tuna poke bowl and it was not good. The tuna was quickly seared outside but the inside was not cooked (as expected) and the color was not normal -gray brown instead of bright pink. It also had a very fishy taste so neither my husband or I ate it, fearing it may make us sick. We did not say anything to the waiter (my husband will never send food back!) so I'm not sure what they would have done, and the waiter did not comment on the fact that neither of us ate anything. The town of San Foca did seem a little sleepy and there are some storefronts that looked to be closed but we were there before the ”season” started so that may be the reason. The hotel itself is everything we expected and more. I can't over state the wonderful service we received from Alessia and the other team members. I would highly recommend this property and hope to return.

This is a wonderful small hotel located right in the old town of Monopoli. Le location is ideal for restaurants and experiencing the town. We had a room overlooking the pedestrian street that was perfect for us. The room was spacious, very beautiful, comfortable bed and good shower. The hotel is inside the wall of the city and very special. The many narrow staircases might be difficult for some people. The breakfast room also so beautiful with great service. We were off season so the pool and rooftop restaurant were not open but we knew this and it was expected. The parking is difficult, we were given a narrow time slot for driving through the pedestrian town to the hotel where a staff took the car to the city street to park there. We had difficulty locating the hotel as there is a very small sign on a door that's it but this is part of the experience if you want to stay in the walled town. The staff was very efficient and professional. We highly recommend this hotel and we would stay there again if back in the area.
