Welcome to the 
Bigfoot Poetry Festival
’s Youth Poetry Slam
, hosted by Julia Gaskill!
Come out on 
Saturday, July 12th, at 1:00pm
. 14 youth poets will compete in a two round poetry slam. Winner gets the opprotunity to perform a poem in the showcase that same day at the Bigfoot Poetry Festival's Finals Stage event (happening at 7:00pm at the United Church of Christ). Plus they will receive a $50 gift card to Powell's Books.

Poets must be 
18
 or younger 
to take part. Poets must have
 2 poems
 (they do not need to be memorized), and both poems should be 3 minutes or less. All normal poetry slam rules apply to this show. The slam's first round will contain 14 poets, and the second round we will cut to 7 poets.
To sign up to be in the poetry slam, please fill out this form. We will only take sign ups at the actual event if we have less than 14 sign ups in advance:

If we receive more than 14 sign ups, there will be a r
andomized draw to determine the participants in this event 
(as well as a calibration poet). Priority will be given to local Portland students not on registered competing teams at this year's tournament. We will attempt to spread out the poets so multiple schools are represented, if this is the case. 
Poets will be emailed at the end of June with more information.
This event takes place on the basement floor of the Woodlark Hotel (813 SW Alder St) in their Grove event room. 
This venue is ADA accessible. 
This mic’s entrance will be through the side door of the building which does have a flight of stairs. For anyone who needs a different entrance, you can go through the front door and go down the elevator.
