31st Meeting of the Process Intensification Network (PIN31) | Stephenson Building

Spruce Valley Township
PIN31 - 31st Meeting of the Process Intensification Network!
Date:
Thursday 10th 2025
Location:
Stephenson Building, G.006, Newcastle University
Process intensification means making
order of magnitude reductions in the size of unit operations
within chemical plants whilst still meeting given production objectives. This leads to significant cost savings by eliminating pipe runs, support structures, expensive foundations, and other civil engineering costs.
The Process Intensification Network (PIN) is a group of companies, research labs, institutes, academic institutions, and individuals all working in the area of process intensification.
The annual one-day PIN meeting organised by the Process Intensification Group (PIG) at Newcastle University provides a forum for knowledge transfer between these stakeholders and for bridging the gap between industry and university.
At PIN31, you will see a mix of 25 min academic and industrial talks themed around energy, feedstocks, and data, which will be followed by several shorter 5-min
intensified
talks to spark ideas. There will also be a space for research posters and roller banners that can be viewed during the breaks.
The event is free to attend, which will include free refreshments and a free lunch!
Attendees are also invited to attend an evening meal (at your own expense) the evening before on Wednesday 9th July; please indicate whether you would like to attend when registering so we can book accordingly.
Any queries to
adam.harvey@ncl.ac.uk
or

Ye Olde Wishing Well -Screening | Tyneside Cinema
Jul 19, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Spruce Valley Township
Ye Olde Wishing Well
is a visually-driven short film written and directed by a profoundly Deaf, non-binary filmmaker, EJ Raymond, who uses British Sign Language (BSL) as their primary language. Originally written over 20 years ago, the film was finally brought to life in 2024 through a successful crowdfunding campaign and the support of co-producer Paul Kerr, a fellow advocate for Deaf creatives.
Filmed on location in and around Newcastle upon Tyne,
Ye Olde Wishing Well
weaves themes of hope, memory, and resilience through a uniquely Deaf lens. The film reflects the creator’s lived experience navigating the intersection of Deafness and non-binary identity, exploring the challenges of marginalisation within both the Deaf and LGBTQ+ communities.
Screened under the theme
Unapologetically Visible
at Northern Pride 2025, this work not only highlights ongoing barriers to access and representation in the arts but also honours the filmmaker’s late mentor, Viv Adam, whose encouragement helped shape this long-awaited project.
