Welcome to the St Clears 10K event! Lace up your running shoes and get ready to hit the pavement on Sun Aug 17 2025 at 11:00 AM from the St Clears Leisure Centre. Following from last years success the 10K will include the West Wales 10K Road Champoinship so here's your chance to grab a West Wales medal. Organised by the TROTs running club and under the Welsh Athletics rules the run is chip timmed will take you through the town of St Clears and out around the local scenic countryside. The run takes place all on the road and will include a number of inclines and declines. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun challenge, this event is perfect for all levels of fitness. This is for anyone who always meant to draw or paint outdoors but never quite got round to it. All artistic levels welcome. We will meet at the Dorenell Visitor Centre and head to Blackwater Lodge and back, taking in and sketching the sights. It is an 11km walk in total so please come prepared with any art materials you can comfortably carry as well as weather appropriate clothing. We will stop at the lodge to sketch and have a snack so please bring food and water for energy. The walk will be led by Rebecca Underdown, one of our rangers and landscape artist. This camp provides professionall volleyball training for athletes to train and learn from current CCAA and USport playersunder the guidance of Pursuit Volley founder, Ken McLaughlin. A Midsummer Fight's Dream is back for the fifth time! This year we'll be taking a swashbucking turn to focus on the dusack, which was sadly missing from last years event. As a brief overview the day will encompass: An introductory workshop to the dusack/messer type weapons in the morningBoth an under-represented gender and beginner's open dusack tournaments in the afternoon (Swiss-pools style). Weapons will be providedConcurrently open sparring for anyone that doesn't want to enter the tournamentThe oft fabled Bar Brawl that will definitely happen and won't run out of time we promisePrize giving by some benches or in a car park, as is tradition .The ticket options are Entry to the beginner's open tournament and workshopEntry to the URG tournament (optionally the beginner's open too if you qualify) and the workshopWorkshop and open sparringVolunteering (free and filled with eternal gratitude)What do we mean by beginner? If you have won a medal at a HEMA scorecard registered event you may not enter. If you do your entry fee will be refunded and you won't be able to enter the tournament. N.B. The under-represented gender's tournaments are NOT beginner only - we think it's important that people that want to enter these tournaments have every opportunity to do so. Each ticket entitles you to enter all tournaments (schedules will not conflict), plus the brawl. All fencers participate at their own risk. If you feel this tournament gives you the best place to practice HEMA in a competitive setting you're encouraged to enter. Equipment: For all tournaments you will need to provide your own protective gear but dusacks will be available. Feel free to bring synthetic and/or rubber weapons you might wish to use for the brawl.
