Arc in the Park - Creative Walk and Suminagashi Ink Marbling | Arc Centre, Hat Works
Feb 15, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Stockport
We'll meet at Arc at Hat Works for a chat about the session, before starting with a short, artist-led walk in neighbouring Viaduct Park, where you'll observe natural elements like flowing wind, shifting light, and rippling water. Returning to Arc, inspired by the nature we've experienced, we'll explore the ancient Japanese marbelling art of 'suminagashi' (floating ink), which embraces spontaneity and letting go of control. You'll create unique, organic patterns in ink, focusing on themes such as presence and acceptance. Whether you want to do something for your health and wellbeing, have a go at something creative or just get outdoors, this sessions is about making time for yourself, time to connect with your surroundings and focus on your creativity. Please note that the walk will take place whatever the weather, so come appropriately dressed. You’re very welcome to explore our exhibitions, showcasing arts and health work and our retail collection, handmade by participants of our programmes. Our workshops are inclusive and supportive, providing space to grow and learn together. Whether you're an experienced artist or taking your first steps, we welcome all abilities.
