Join Valmy with special guest, Just Graham, on the Toronto stop of her solo tour across Eastern Canada in support of her debut album 'The In Between'. Doors 8pm // Show 8:30 Tickets: $15 advance // $20 at the Door Valmy is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Ontario who’s been following the ocean and making home on the East Coast. Exploring themes of wonder, loss, and healing, she uses her folk-influenced music to tell stories about loving and stumbling your way through the dark. Based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Valmy creates and performs by weaving nature-inspired melodic swells and atmospheric harmonies with her contemplative writing. Her debut full-length album ‘The In Between’ was independently released in September 2023 and warmly received listeners, with a thoughtful review from Tony Ploughman of Fred’s Records: “The rhythms and melodies wrap around the mind and soul like a lovingly patched quilt…There is a cohesiveness to this full album offering meditative musings on balancing ones own mental state in harmony with nature, the songs providing a methodical process to achieve that balance. And the underlying intensity to follow through on the beckoning of one’s thoughts and emotions to create is constant…Deftly produced, engineered and mixed, “The In Between” is one of 2023’s finest NL Releases”. This collection of songs was given new life with Valmy’s original arrangements and the performances of her esteemed band members, earning her a 2024 ECMA nomination and MusicNL awards for Alternative Artist, Solo Artist, and Ron Hynes Songwriter of the Year. She is excited to be connecting with audiences and sharing bills with artists she admires on her solo Autumn Tour in support of ‘The In Between’. To Listen: The In Between by Valmy Official Website: valmymusic.com Links & Press: https://linktr.ee/valmyvee Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/valmyvee Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/valmeemusic Tour Dates Here Graham is a songwriter at heart. Since picking up a box violin at the age of five he has always played by ear and listened for the melody. Drawn to the intimacy and immediacy of the stage, Graham reached his ten thousand hours by performing with countless groups through the tens. A singer and multi-instrumentalist, the highlight of this chapter was co-leading indie folk outfit Common Deer from 2014 to 2021, who toured extensively in Canada and the U.S. to support three studio releases. In the stillness of the pandemic, song writing flooded back in. A new honesty emerged both in texture and words. Graham now knows a greater responsibility and seeks his best both in sentiment and delivery. Owning his stage name from a solo project back in 2007, Just Graham wants to remind you that love isn’t dead, and beauty lies in imperfection. Find them in the Hamilton Farmer's Market. About Harold Danko A 30-album discography, associations with an impressive list of jazz legends including Chet Baker, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis and Woody Herman, not to mention countless recording sessions, only describe a fraction of what pianist Harold Danko brings to the table. In a career spanning more than a half century, Harold Danko has established himself as a distinguished pianist, composer and band leader, fortified by an impressive resume. Since 1980 he has earned ASCAP awards yearly for the value of his catalog of original compositions. Danko holds Professor Emeritus status at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, where he chaired the jazz studies program for eleven years. Pianist/composer Harold Danko is best known for his long-term associations with an impressive list of jazz legends including Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, Lee Konitz and Woody Herman. Beginning his piano studies at the age of five, Harold became serious about pursuing a career in jazz at the age of fifteen when he commenced studies with Gene Rush in Youngstown, Ohio. After graduation from Youngstown State University and a stint in the Army band, Harold landed the piano chair in Woody Herman's Thundering Herd, which launched his career as a much sought after jazz musician. He also developed a reputation as a respected jazz educator and served on the faculties of the Manhattan School of Music, the New School/Mannes, and Hartt College. He has performed at major jazz venues throughout the world as well as on recordings, television and video. As a band leader he has been featured in Lincoln Center's Meet the Artist series, Washington (DC) Performing Arts Society series at J.F.K. Center, the Rochester International Jazz Festival, and numerous jazz festivals both in the USA and abroad. In 1995 he was awarded an NEA Fellowship to perform his own works in a series of concerts in New York City. Throughout the 90s Harold performed with and composed for his own quartet with Rich Perry (tenor saxophone), Scott Colley (bass) and Jeff Hirshfield (drums) and more recently a trio with Hirshfield and Michael Formanek (bass) with whom he has recorded a series of highly acclaimed CDs on the SteepleChase label. For more than two decades, Harold has won ASCAP awards, based on the unique prestige value of catalogue of original compositions. He accepted an appointment from the Eastman School of Music in 1998 and now chairs the Jazz and Contemporary Media department. He teaches jazz piano, directs the Jazz Performance Workshops, and heads the Eastman Jazz Trio, whose first CD was released in 2003. In addition to his own educational video, Jazz Keyboard Techniques, available only in Brazil, he can be seen and heard on video performances with Gerry Mulligan, Chet Baker, and Lee Konitz. Harold's featured column, Solo Piano , appeared in Keyboard Magazine for more than five years, and his keyboard improvisation method, the Illustrated Keyboard Series, is a widely used reference. His latest CDs, released over the last three years on the SteepleChase label, “Spring Garden”, “Rite Notes”, and “Trillium” are all inspired by Igor Stravinsky. “These recordings document important steps in my continuing exploration of Stravinsky’s music for purposes of composition and improvisation – a harvest growing directly from the Rite of Spring and other related works. In live performances the eighteen pieces developed from my studies serve as springboards for further investigation and improvisation. My post-production work on the recordings sparked greater interest in finding even more content to draw on from Stravinsky’s scores, and the pieces have evolved into a kind of suite for solo piano incorporating details that had to be left out of the recordings. I premiered an abbreviated version in 2020 at my Leap Year concert on February 29 in East Rochester and longer versions later at the Bop Shop and Rochester International Jazz Festival.” -- Join Hamilton Music Collective for our 10th anniversary jazz concert series, showcasing top Canadian and international musicians in jazz, blues, and improvised music. Curatorial Statement What does it mean to gather? To gather around, to gather together, to assemble, to accumulate—it’s about closeness and community. This year’s fall exhibition, Gather, celebrates the act of coming together through the appreciation of original art by local and regional Canadian artists. It highlights the myriad ways in which we gather—whether it’s people, information, or ideas. Gathering evokes social practices, rituals, and festive events that are central to every culture, religion, family, and individual. These practices reinforce a sense of identity and continuity within communities. Artists, as members of their own cultures and communities, are adept at communicating ideas and perspectives that invite us to connect and reflect. Through their art, artists gather concepts and present them in ways that foster open dialogue. Each artist’s practice asks its own questions, formulating ideas that drive them to create and connect with their audience. This exhibition aims to link artistic practice with viewer experience, celebrating art’s unique storytelling power. Visitors to this exhibition will enjoy a collector’s preview of Crescent Hill’s fall collection of original works. The pieces span various materials and subjects, yet all represent fresh explorations in color, subject matter, and style. In a world that often leans towards individualism, we aim to celebrate our community of artists and art enthusiasts. This autumn, we invite you to Information Source: Crescent Hill Gallery | eventbrite

Bob Wiseman is unapologetically original and fiercely independent. From his early days with Blue Rodeo, where he brought an unpredictable edge to the bands' more predictable alt-country sound. Bob's solo work flirts and co-mingles with a wide range of influences from jazz to folk and punk, experimental and beyond. His music is a mix of wit, wisdom, and a kind of strange beauty and personal self-expression and protest music that you can only make if you’re willing to walk off the beaten path and be brave. Bob Wiseman's influence extends far beyond his solo work; he's also an academic, prolific producer, composer and filmmaker, having worked with a wide range of musicians and on numerous film and television scores. He has produced albums for the likes of Ron Sexsmith, Edie Brickell, and Bruce McCulloch of Kids in the Hall and collaborated with artists across genres, from Jane Siberry to Michelle Shocked, and stages with the likes of Billy Bragg and Daniel Lanois. Bob Wiseman is a one-man revolution in the music world, a true dark horse who defies categorization and thumbs his nose in the face of convention. He has spent his career creating music that refuses to be tamed or boxed in. In a world full of noise, Bob Wiseman is a rare voice of individuality and creative musicality that should make you stop and listen. If you haven’t heard of him, that’s probably because he’s too busy making great art and working on his PhD to worry about being famous. Information Source: The Mule Spinner | eventbrite
