Join artist Vivienne Roche for a fun drawing workshop for grandparents and grandchildren aged 6-9 in Vivienne’s exhibition Abridged at the RHA. Inspired by a drawing of Vivienne by her granddaughter on a post-it note, grandchildren will be invited to draw a post-it sized portrait of their grandparent. Last year, my granddaughter Hannah, then aged 7 and who loves being in my studio, did an astute drawing of me on a post-it as I was myself drawing. It is now my portrait in the Abridged catalogue. This gave me the idea for a post-it portrait workshop during the exhibition to see how other grandchildren might see and draw a grandparent. Vivienne Roche RHA Grandparents are invited to bring one grandchild along for the workshop. The workshop cost of €5 is for children only. Two more brilliant comedians who have made the effortless transition from online stardom to damn fine live standups. Enya Martin with an online audience of millions and as you can see from the poster, a real life audience of thousands. She heads goes back to Vicar Street for the third year in a row next month as part of a nationwide tour. She started her career in comedy when she created the Facebook page Giz A Laugh making two-minute comedy videos. Her sharp eye for observing the madness of life around her in her native Clondalkin area of Dublin made her sketches funny and familiar. Enya is now regarded as one of the best live stand-up comedians in Ireland and has sold out multiple shows in multiple venues. Her latest show ‘Ask Your Ma’, is an hilarious roller coaster of her life experiences Simon Hennessy is definitely the new star of 2023 and 2024. He has a dizzying array of characters online including the iconic Emin€M50, Adam from Bumble and Howie Duwett. he brings them, and musical comedy and standup and impersonations. He has an online following of over 400k. His first solo hour Afters was a UK sellout, a sellout tour of the UK and Ireland in 2023, and his follow-up show Notice Box was an Edinburgh sell out and you can see it also at the Dublin Fringe Festival. Writers let loose in Beckett’s archives – readings from Tolka journal We are delighted to invite you to an evening of readings by four wonderful writers who have completed creative fellowships in the Beckett archives at Trinity College Dublin and the University of Reading: Claire-Louise Bennett, Niamh Campbell, Nathan O'Donnell, and Simon Okotie. Excerpts from their responses to Beckett were published in the most recent issue of Tolka journal. This event is a collaboration between the School of English and Library at Trinity College Dublin, the Samuel Beckett Research Centre at the University of Reading, and Tolka journal. The Serenity Club - EP Launch Show Fusing the iconic 90's Seattle sound with rousing choruses and pop undertones to a contemporary alt-rock foundation, North London three-piece The Serenity Club are about to release their debut five-track EP Obsession Submission this November. Composed of school friends Raman Singh on vocals/guitars, Mit Inajar on bass and Kris Rich on drums, the band have been steamrollering through London's most iconic venues with their powerful set. After their debut at a noisy, sweaty Dublin Castle followed by shows for Camden Rocks at The Fiddler's Elbow and the Camden Grunge Scene at The Troubadour, the band have just played their first headline gig at The Good Mixer, quickly establishing themselves a force to be reckoned with on the circuit. With the release of debut single Heaven Is A World Without You in March followed by a further three tracks from the EP released in succession, the trio have received regular radio airplay on stations such as Total Rock, Future Hits and Amazing Radio UK and US. The band are making a triumphant return to The Dublin Castle to celebrate the release of the EP and air new material. Whilst their individual musical journeys have seen them successfully tear up ear drums and stages in the underground rock/metal scene and beyond, their adoration of the music that shaped their first conversations has brought to life this new project.
