Contact Contemporary Dance | Rockingham Community Centre

Nov 12, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Falmouth
Arts
Dance
The underlying principles of CI apply for solo dances too and taking time to carve these individually as well as in contact, will allow each participant to explore the nuances, versitality and vocabulary they hold. It refines coordination and gives rise to new forms because we are not limiting ourselves to be either in or out of contact. It supports a CI practice greatly and vice versa, expands a solo movement practice by focussing in on CI principles such as sharing weight, falls, recovery, mutlidirectionality, reach and more. For a contact dancer the freedom to open up spaces with confidence is important. It fosters a new imagination that is nevertheless collective but invites space for ourselves. For those who are new to contact work, you will have the opportunity to investigate how individual motion can not only co-exist but by coming into contact, creates a new kind of flow that emerges as a physical dialogue. To experience the space in between by being in and out of contact can become an inspiring playful arena and a new territory to explore. The ability to move together while out of contact opens up group scores and allows one's attention to perceive the wider fabric of the space and people. In many ways it is about understanding that when we dance contact we also dance solo and when dance solo, we dance contact. Information Source: Exit Map | eventbrite
