Dresdner Striezelmarkt | Dresden
Celebration
First recorded in 1434, the Dresden Christmas Market (Striezelmarkt) will be held for the 591st time this year at the Old Market Square from Wednesday, November 26, to Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Named after "Striezel," a traditional Christmas pastry also known as Dresden's Christmas Stollen, the market is world-renowned. A beloved market for Dresden residents and visitors alike, it's one of the city's most popular Christmas markets. The Dresden Christmas Market is a must-see during any visit to Dresden during the Christmas season. At over 200 stalls, sample local specialties such as Saxon mulled wine, Lusatian grilled sausages, Dresden Stollen cake, and quakkerchen, a traditional German dish from the Vogtland region. You can also admire pyramids, smoke ovens, Christmas tree decorations, and nutcrackers crafted by artisans from the Erzgebirge Mountains. Christmas performances by up to 1,900 artists provide exciting entertainment for all ages. The walk-through candlelit arch and Ferris wheel overlooking the entire Striezelmarkt will immerse you in the Christmas atmosphere.
