"The hotel was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. Downstairs, there's a noodle shop that's reportedly been open for 20 years, making it very convenient for dining. Since I arrived a bit early and my room wasn't ready, I went to eat first. The hotel is spotless, the breakfast is excellent, and the views from the hotel are great. Downstairs looks like a big park with a river running through it. Overall, the service and environment are excellent, and it's extremely clean. I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip, and it's also conveniently close to the high-speed rail station."

"Environment: The hotel environment is excellent, the rooms are spacious, and the public areas are clean. There are many elevators, so you don't have to wait long. Service: I have to give a super good review to the hotel staff. They helped with our luggage, and the front desk staff were patient and gentle. Simply fantastic!! Facilities: The hotel houses Fenglin Pavilion restaurant, so you can enjoy Shanxi specialty dishes right on site, which is very convenient! The swimming pool water is also very clean! If I ever get to visit Datong again, I'll definitely choose this hotel!"

"The hotel is pretty good. It's close to Taiyuan South Station, and surprisingly, it's not noisy. However, transportation isn't the most convenient; traffic jams are common both coming and going, which is typical for the summer holidays! Once inside, you can tell it's part of the Marriott hotel group. The room was decent, clean, and comfortable, with plenty of space to put things. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and besides a full-length dressing mirror, there was also a unique swivel mirror by the sink. The shower pressure was good, and the water didn't pool on the floor. The toilet wasn't an automatic bidet. The view outside was okay, but there were decorative elements on the building facade that made taking pictures difficult. The lobby was quite spacious, with a convenience store and a coffee shop. It was well-lit and very comfortable. The hotel also has plenty of parking spaces; I always managed to find one each time I drove in."

Hotel near Liu Xiang/Bell Tower Street,Taiyuan
The Shanxi Hotel (Shanxi fandian) is located in the city center, at the north of Wuyi Square. The hotel is 15km from the airport and about 1.5km from the railway station. The 306 guestrooms are arranged with up-to-date facilities and are comfortable and clean. The hotel boasts a large conference hall, which can hold up to 500 people. There is also a business center, a shopping arcade, a beauty salon, a billiards room and a dancing hall. The hotel restaurants provide good Shanxi local specialties, western food, Huaiyang and Guangdong cuisine. The Nanyuan cafeteria with a capacity of 500 people is suitable for banquet and cocktail parties.

"The Deluxe View King Room is on the highest floor, the 11th, with the dining area right above on the 12th. Being on the 11th floor offers a really grand view, and the room itself feels spacious. For a summer holiday stay, the price of just over 500 RMB was an absolute steal. You definitely need to book it with breakfast included, as the breakfast alone is easily worth at least 50 RMB per person. They have lamb skewers, white wine, yellow wine, lamb offal soup, chicken wings, and pizza – it's like a mini buffet dinner, with a huge variety of options. The room also gets complimentary fruit, drinks, or yogurt daily, and they even offer turn-down service. The service is absolutely beyond five-star, although the facilities are indeed a bit dated."

"Datong, the ancient city of Shanxi, welcomed me for three days out of my eight-day journey through the province. From the airport pickup and morning meals to the comfortable accommodation and car rentals, the hotel truly embodied the warmth and sense of belonging captured by the phrase 'Datong under heaven, one harmonious family.' The owner personally picked me up, and she was wonderful—elegant, cheerful, and incredibly welcoming. The room she arranged was clean, tidy, bright, and peaceful, making for a truly comfortable and relaxing stay. The breakfast options were perfect for a Cantonese palate, and they even had coffee available, which was a thoughtful touch."

This was a last-minute hotel change for me. When I arrived, my room wasn't ready yet, but the young lady at the front desk immediately and proactively helped me switch rooms and upgraded me. The deluxe twin room was very spacious; it felt almost empty for just me. The room was very clean, the bedding had no strange odors, and the facilities were new. Both the bathroom and the washroom had motion-sensor lights, and the toiletries had a lovely, fresh scent. The only minor issue was the toilet flush button, which needed a firm press all the way down to flush properly. All the staff I encountered were very polite. Breakfast was extensive, and the staff were constantly attentive to your needs, whether it was refilling tea or getting condiments – they were right there to help, which was great. There are many good restaurants nearby, like Xijindao Noodle House and Tianyuan Beiweijia Feast. When checking out, they proactively gave me a thoughtful souvenir gift, including aged vinegar, millet, and some local specialty snacks, which was a very nice touch.

Even if it's hard to get tickets for Mount Wutai online, it's still possible to buy them offline, except during the Chinese New Year period (4th to 5th day). The hotel boasts an excellent location, just a ten-minute walk from the bus station. However, since you have to climb a few hills, I felt a bit tired after walking for a few minutes once inside the hotel. While the room facilities are a bit dated, the underfloor heating made it very warm and comfortable during winter. The breakfast was rather basic, and although the equipment seemed a bit old, the staff were still very friendly.

The location is superb; I had no worries about catching the 9 PM show. After the show, I was definitely the first one back at the hotel among all the audience members. I even got a warm bowl of late-night porridge – the service was impeccable. The room was also very unique and I had a very comfortable stay.
