"Facilities: The facilities are still up to the standard of a past five-star hotel, generally good. Cleanliness: Very clean and tidy. The couple who clean the rooms are friendly, diligent, and responsible, which is very thoughtful – big thumbs up. Environment: Suzhou garden landscape, full of charm and atmosphere. Service: There were too many people at the front desk, and the service attitude varied. I believe every guest will give a review based on their genuine feelings. However, there were one or two young ladies whose attitude was serious and friendly, and their service was excellent. Initially, the room they assigned us faced the swimming pool and was very noisy. I requested a change, and a good-looking young man handled it swiftly and efficiently. His friendly service attitude made me feel very welcome. He immediately switched our room. I want to give a special shout-out to this young man because he was able to solve the problem without even asking for a good review."

Every moment spent here is destined to become a cherished urban memory.

"What a fantastic vacation experience! Over four days and three nights, we got to try out buildings 9, 2, and 8, each with its own advantages. My personal preference, in descending order, is 2 ≥ 9 ≥ 8. First, let's talk about the courtyard room in building 2. What I loved most was waking up to lush greenery right outside my window. I could step into the courtyard in my pajamas and soak in nature. Even when it rained, there was no need to worry about not being able to go out; there were tables and chairs in the courtyard perfect for quietly watching the rain. It truly maximized that relaxed, vacation feel, ideal for unwinding and recharging. The facilities weren't old either; I found them perfectly fine. Next up is the suite in building 9. It's spacious, featuring a living room, bedroom, study, and two bathrooms. The Chinese-style decor felt grand and expansive, and the garden views from the window were also excellent. It would be very comfortable for a family. Since there were only two of us, we didn't need such a large space, which is why I personally preferred building 2, though building 9 was indeed great. Building 8 is the newest and most modern. It offers breakfast (which 2 and 9 don't), and it was quite good. The window seats in the restaurant also boasted amazing views. They even provide complimentary bedtime snacks (again, something 2 and 9 lack) and you can choose hot milk, which was a very thoughtful touch. The room quality was also higher, with Bulgari toiletries, Evian and Nongfu Spring bottled water, and better quality disposable slippers and mattresses. However, my personal priority for a resort hotel is the scenery, so building 8 ranked slightly lower for me. For those who prioritize room quality and service details, this building is definitely worth considering. The overall landscaping and service throughout the hotel grounds were excellent. Before coming, I wondered if people were exaggerating when they said you don't need to leave the hotel for a vacation, but after experiencing it, I realized it's true. Staying at the Yingbinguan is perfect for a low-energy, lazy person like me who doesn't want to wake up early for itineraries or battle crowds at tourist attractions. Beyond the hotel, everyone we encountered in Yangzhou – at attractions, restaurants, and museums – was incredibly nice. Thank you, Yangzhou, for giving us such precious travel memories. We'll definitely be back for another vacation!"

"This hotel, a landmark in Nanjing, boasts breathtaking views from its high-rise location! I stayed in a 69th-floor lake-view room, and the panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows offered stunning vistas of Xuanwu Lake, Purple Mountain, the Yangtze River, and the city lights. Both the sunrise in the morning and the sunset in the evening were incredibly therapeutic. It's super convenient, just a 1-minute walk to Gulou subway station, and a 5-minute stroll to Xuanwu Lake for a morning run. Ji Ming Temple and Deji Plaza are also very close by. The 50 sqm room is spacious, and the separate large bathtub with city views was perfect for a relaxing soak. The bedding was just right – not too soft, not too firm – and the soundproofing was excellent. Breakfast offered a wide variety, including local Nanjing delicacies like duck blood and vermicelli soup and soup dumplings. The Executive Lounge's afternoon tea had unlimited desserts, hot dishes, and drinks, and the sunset views from there created an amazing atmosphere. Ms. Alice at the front desk provided thoughtful service, proactively suggesting great photo spots and ensuring efficient luggage delivery. This is definitely my top choice for a vacation in Nanjing!"

If you demand a high level of service, our guests have indicated that this hotel has excellent standards. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.

"The location is absolutely unbeatable. Yunlong Lake is just a few steps away, literally right next to a 5A scenic area. You can walk out the door and stroll along the lake, enjoying the breeze. It's about a ten-minute walk to Yunlong Mountain and the Han Portrait Stone Art Museum, and Xuzhou Museum isn't far either. No need to rush in the morning, perfect for a relaxed trip. Parking is free for drivers, and there are plenty of spaces, so no worries about finding a spot. The hotel also upgraded our room. The huge floor-to-ceiling window offered a direct view of the entire Yunlong Lake. In the evening, the lake shimmered with golden light during sunset – it was incredibly therapeutic to just sit by the window on the sofa and relax. The bedding was just right, with both soft and firm pillows, so even those who prefer firm pillows can sleep soundly. The bathroom had a wet and dry separation, with both a bathtub and shower. The toiletries had a subtle, high-end scent, not a cheap artificial fragrance. After a day of sightseeing, a bath was perfect for unwinding. The cleanliness was impeccable, with corners and the vanity sparkling. It was a very comfortable stay. Breakfast deserves a special shout-out! It wasn't the usual generic buffet. All the local Xuzhou specialties were available! Freshly fried dough sticks, 'laomo juan sanzi' (pancake rolls with crispy treats), and handmade 'jianbing guozi' (savory crepes) were all there. No need to wake up early and queue for local breakfast outside. The freshly cooked rice noodle station was super popular, and the beef bone broth was incredibly fresh. Western pastries and freshly ground coffee were also available. The hotel's facilities are comprehensive. The constant-temperature indoor pool was super relaxing after a tiring day. The gym had enough equipment. The view from the executive lounge was absolutely stunning; enjoying a drink while looking at the nighttime lights of Yunlong Lake created an amazing ambiance, perfect for couples or friends. The Chinese restaurant served authentic local dishes, with delicious 'digou ji' (pot-stewed chicken) and Huaiyang cuisine. It was great to have the option to dine in the hotel instead of going out. The service was warm and attentive. Check-in at the front desk was quick. We requested a high-floor lake view, and the staff did their best to accommodate. Special thanks to Bree at the front desk; she was very responsive to our needs, and her attention to detail was incredibly thoughtful."

GGuest UserGetting good reviews is a KPI for employees set by the boss! Suspect they're boosting ratings! The location is great, very convenient for visiting the Confucius Temple and surrounding areas. For the price, the service was actually quite good. The room came with plenty of complimentary snacks, fruit, and drinks, and they even delivered sweet fermented rice balls with jelly at night. BUT! The hotel asked for a good review as a condition for a room upgrade. After adding them on WeChat, they kept pestering me for the review, even before noon the next day, it was a relentless barrage of messages. The room itself was a long, winding walk to find, and the facilities were quite old. The sink drainage wasn't very smooth. Overall, this is a hotel with a good location, but old facilities that they try to compensate for with service, and they're definitely boosting their ratings. If I hadn't promised a good review, I would have seriously given a bad one!! If you don't mind the room quality and prioritize convenience for sightseeing, you can consider it. But if you have a bigger budget, I'd say skip it.

GGuest UserStayed here with my family over the weekend. The hotel's setting is really unique, nestled within a garden, so it was very quiet. The staff were all incredibly friendly; the front desk, the manager, and especially tour guide Mr. Xu, who gave us a fantastic garden tour. I brought my parents, and Mr. Xu's professional explanations really made their day. Thank you! The Suzhou-style noodles at the hotel's breakfast buffet were delicious, though by 9 am, some items were already gone. Still, the variety was quite good. Overall, I highly recommend this place.

PPinganshidaoI originally booked a Classic Room package. The front desk staff suggested upgrading to a Balcony Room, which is 30 square meters larger, for an additional 500 RMB. I took their advice, and after comparing, I think it was worth it because not only did I get more space, but also a large balcony and double breakfast. The room was high-ceilinged and cool, the air conditioning was comfortable, and the mattress was very pleasant. There were many books in the room to browse. The bathroom had a double vanity, but I was a little disappointed that not every sink had both hand soap and lotion. The left sink had hand soap, and the right one had lotion. So, if you wanted to wash your hands, you went to the left sink, and then to the right sink for lotion after washing. The two sinks were quite far apart with a large bathtub in the middle. I hope the hotel can be a bit more generous and provide both items at each sink, which would be much more convenient. From the moment I entered the hotel, the service felt like I was entering my own home. There were complimentary snacks, and the tea served was also good. All the staff greeted me with proactive smiles. The breakfast selection wasn't extensive, but everything was high quality, though there's room for improvement with the Western pastries. This trip, I specifically went for the noodles at Su Mian Fang. The service and taste were absolutely incredible, though the price was a bit on the high side. I wanted to eat them again. I'm not sure if it's because I rarely eat Su noodles and am therefore less knowledgeable, or if they truly are considered a delicacy among Suzhou noodles. Additionally, the hotel's environment is very Suzhou-like, and it's located by the lake in front of the Gate of the Orient.

AAnonymous UserService: I stayed here during the May Day holiday. The front desk contacted me in advance to confirm my estimated arrival time and proactively helped me with my luggage to the parking lot. After a brief chat, my booked courtyard room was upgraded for free to a third-floor river-view king room. The Qinhuai River was right outside the balcony door of the living room. The staff also kindly informed me of the best viewing times and explained all the room's amenities. Environment: The hotel's location is excellent, peaceful yet central. The room was meticulously clean, and the public areas were bright and tidy. Value-added services: The minibar offered complimentary drinks, snacks, and two facial masks. The public area on the first floor provided a variety of traditional Chinese clothing for guests to use for free photos, including Hanfu, horse-face skirts, and qipaos. They were varied, clean, and suitable for women of all sizes. Breakfast: Breakfast was a semi-buffet, featuring the hotel's special noodles and Nanjing's local pastries and cold dishes, all quite rich and delicious.

LLvzhexiaoenHuazhu She · Suzhou Moke Garden Cultural Hotel A hidden gem near Pingjiang Road, this hotel boasts a garden with a history spanning several centuries. Guests and casual visitors are separated by an electric privacy gate, which effectively safeguards privacy. Initially, I was concerned about mosquitoes, but my worries were unfounded. Aromatic mosquito repellents are placed everywhere in the garden; they are effective and not overpowering. The staff also regularly check and replace them. The hotel offers complimentary cultural performances for guests. With only 12 rooms, guests enjoy undisturbed peace. I stayed in 'Guanhua Hall', which was advertised as 45 square meters but felt more like 50+. The interior design eschews modern minimalism in favor of authentic garden-style rosewood furniture, meticulously restored from an old mansion. Every corner of the room was impeccably clean, a testament to the owner's exceptional upkeep. At my age, I truly appreciate this kind of classic ambiance. The butler service was also superb – highly responsive and incredibly attentive. A shuttle service is provided for both arrival and departure, and the breakfast, a healthy home-cooked meal, was absolutely delightful. This hotel is truly a place to slow down and quietly immerse yourself in the experience – a serene oasis in the heart of the bustling city.

AAnonymous User⭐ Suzhou Shantang Shuxiang Mansion | Prime Location, But 5-Star Quality Doesn't Justify 5-Star Price (3-Day, 2-Night Honest Review) 📍 Location: ★★★★★ (Irreplaceable) ✅ Right in the heart of Shantang Street scenic area (No. 88 Shantang Street). Step out and you're on the ancient street, perfect for exploring and dining. ✅ Quiet yet central: Outside, it's the bustling city life; inside, it's a Suzhou-style garden with white walls, black tiles, and flowing water – incredibly atmospheric. ✅ Convenient transportation: About a 7-minute walk to Shantang Street Metro Station, making it easy to get to attractions like Humble Administrator's Garden and Tiger Hill by taxi or subway. 🏡 Facilities & Environment: Garden is a plus, details are a minus ✔️ Highlights: Converted from a Ming and Qing dynasty guild hall, with a Chinese courtyard and carved window frames – great for ancient-style photos; rooms are individual villas, offering good privacy. ❌ Drawbacks (unacceptable for a 5-star hotel): • Facilities are a bit old (renovated in 2016), with some furniture wear and tear and aging fixtures. Lacks the refinement of a 5-star hotel. • Cleaning blind spots: Dust in corners, obvious water stains on bathroom glass; encountered a cockroach on the first day (promptly handled, but still unpleasant). • Soundproofing is average: Street-facing rooms can hear street noise, so it's not absolutely quiet. 🛎️ Service: Good attitude, but lacks professionalism ✔️ Basic service is up to par: Bellhops help with luggage, smooth check-in/check-out process; free Pingtan performances in the afternoon, and Hanfu experience available by reservation. ❌ 5-star service shortcomings: • Slow response: Calling the butler/front desk often results in a wait of over 15 minutes, with no proactive greetings or follow-ups. • Lack of detail: No turndown service; breakfast selection is limited and quality is average, lacking the variety of a 5-star buffet. 💰 Value for Money: Location seriously overpriced, quality doesn't match the price • Room rates are approximately 1200-2000 RMB/night. The core premium comes from its rare location within the Shantang scenic area. • Compared to other 5-star hotels at the same price point (e.g., InterContinental, Marriott), there are significant gaps in facilities, service, and dining. It feels more like a high-end garden guesthouse than a luxury hotel. ✅ Summary & Recommendations (Expert's Honest Opinion) Suitable for: • Travelers seeking an immersive Jiangnan garden experience in a prime location, with a generous budget, who prioritize atmosphere over facilities. • Those who enjoy ancient-style photography, exploring Shantang Street, and prefer not to rush around. Not suitable for: • Business travelers or quality-conscious guests who expect standard 5-star service, refined facilities, and absolute privacy/quietness. • Travelers seeking high value for money and unwilling to pay a high premium for location. In a nutshell: Irreplaceable location, but not truly 5-star quality. Choose based on your needs, and book rationally.

GGuest UserThe place is beautiful. The rooms/cottages of the hotel are spread around a nice area. There is a vegetable garden and kids could feed the goats and rabbit. My kids loved the hotel and the room. Front desk gave us kids slippers and toothbrushes and a bag full of treats and snacks for the kids. Beds were very comfortable and the family room was beautiful with a balcony looking to the canal. Black swans swimming in there. The private outside hot bathtub was cool. They gave us some activity tickets (kids cookies baking, two free coffee cups and free entrance to the park beside), sadly we couldn’t use them, because we came noon and went to visit a different area , then left the next day after breakfast. The outside hotel surroundings are nice and peaceful. The food was great! Breakfast buffet is delicious. I would recommend it. There was a staff speaking English, but was not necessary for us. The service is very good and friendly…I’ll return.
