This is the second time I stayed with Dorsett, the last time is in February 2025, I had a great experience so I returned. This time I have to move my room 3 times. The first room due to no hot water on the tap, the second one due to the shower head hose burst with leaking spray, the manager was very apologetic for the repeated inconvenience and upgraded us to a executive room with complimentary breakfast. While I am a bit annoyed with the repeated moving, I am impressed with the manager's gesture for keeping customers happy. The another thing I like the hotel to improve is to keep the outdoor pool may be two degrees warmer so that hotel guests can still enjoy the beautiful pool in winter, especially the spa area.
I was a nice weekend for my family. We celebrated my kids birthday and we couldn't wait to comeback here. Such a good deal we get. The room has very nice view
There were so many things wrong with this very tired hotel. TV remote broken, beds so old and soft that they rolled into the middle, no plug for bath, impossible to set shower temperature, only supplied 3 towels for 4 people, unheated swimming pool, run down fitness area, tennis court while useful is literally falling apart and have to be careful when opening gates due to loads of rusted broken sharp metal edges. Lifts are ineffective and either take forever to arrive or Goto the wrong floor or have the wrong announcements.
Wouldn't stay again.
We didn't expect our stay to be in such a wonderful setting. With tennis court, fantastic pools area with gym etc. we were on the 2nd floor with Riverview WOW. THE resort is totally central to all. Also the cost factor unbelievable not your normal Surfer Paradise $$$$$. Totally recommend
Clean and comfortable with great kitchenette facilities in room. Shame we were staying in ugly weather because the location and access to beach was great. Older building but well maintained. Short drive to town centre and shops. Over all I’d recommend for anyone seeking a beach side holiday. View from our room would have been great in better weather. We were grateful to be dry and comfortable!
Can't fault the location! Amazing. Great facilities - pool, spa, steam room, sauna. Customer service was great. The negatives were the small things - no soapholder, or anywhere to put soap in the shower. One tiny shampoo and no conditioner for 2 people for 5 days. Shower door broken. Even though there was a kitchenette, it was pretty unusable (apart from kettle) as there was no kitchenware! No plates, knives or anything you'd be able to use in the kitchenette.
The whole airlie beach has a nice view, but the view from the room is terrible. I booked a sea view king room, but the result is as shown in P1. Is this the sea view? ? Just a little bit between two trees 🤏 Not as good as the garden room I booked in other hotels with more sea view
Good location, large room, folding bed, convenient for family and children, kitchen, cooking, supermarket nearby, convenient to buy food. The hotel is well maintained, and the next time you go to Mission Beach, you must choose this hotel again, it is recommended.
Very nice hotel with interesting aesthetic. Rooms recently renovated in a nice coastal theme.
Hot tub could do with some maintenance but overall pleasant stay. Would visit again if we ever came back to Airlie.
It was great stay. Clean room, quiet, peaceful ambiance plus the beach itself. Professional staff. In short we love it ❤️

GGuest UserI was very satisfied. There is a shop near the hotel, which is very helpful. Due to its location, it is a place where you do not have to eat. The hotel employees are very nice.
GGuest UserFirstly, the room was excellent, ultra clean with bath and shower. The sheets were exemplary, bed very comfortable as were the pillows.
Bar fridge and microwave, toiletries in the bathroom.
Towels excellent.

I was excited to see a very large, modern wide screen TV with onboard Android system.
Disappointed that no internet connection (so I could have used my own passwords for my streaming services.
Even more disappointed that there was no aerial connected, but I had brought my own tech and internet. I just switched off the TV.
Imagine my extreme displeasure to board the 3rd floor lift at 05:00 to have the doors closed - but no button worked!
I WAS TRAPPED IN THE LIFT!!!
I pressed the yellow emergency button for 5 seconds - no answer - pressed multiple times.
I phoned the hotel main number, so they could press the lift call button - no answer.
I phoned the 24/7 emergency 1300 number. The operator said she would send someone out - who would phone me with an ETA.
Getting anxious, being 60 years old with a heart condition, I dialled 000 to call the POLICE!
The dispatcher commended me on remaining so calm.
I assured her, being very hot in cramped spaces with very little air was definitely not conducive to my remaining calm.
They said to call 000 back if I got out before the fire brigade arrived.
Five minutes later I heard voices outside. Someone heard my banging on the lift doors and cries for help.
I GOT OUT
That night the guy on reception said sorry.
I explained that, although the room was marvelous - and that I did eventually get out, a man of my age and I'll health could have died - why wasn't anyone on duty to answer the damn lift emergency phone?
He said he was sorry.
FFeixingdarenThe room layout is very good, suitable for family travel, there is a business district downstairs, and you can go to the supermarket to buy some ingredients to cook. It is no problem for a family of six to stay here, and the scenery outside the room is also OK. The disadvantage is that the cleaning is so-so. If you don't like Western breakfast, don't book it, because it is indeed a bit different from the taste of Asians.
PPHILLIP JAMESThe Mantra Hotel has outstanding location. It is directly in front of the Woolworths supermarket - the best option in central Cairns. It's also virtually opposite (the esplanade side)the lagoon public beachfront swimming pool. Finally it's just a 5 minute walk from Cairns Cruise Terminal, with outstanding day trips to Green Island, Fitzroy Island and the Reef. I booked a sea view room. When you enter the room, you don't see the ocean, but a building across the road. However, the view from the balcony was amazing. The balcony overlooks the main features of lagoon on the sea front. During the day it is great view - the lagoon pools and sea in the background. At night you cannot see the sea (as to be expected) but you have the amazing lagoon lights, which makes it very desirable and even romantic. Our room was at the end of block, which overlooks a shopping mall (no car noise) - looking right from the balcony is the lagoon view and looking left is a mountain view. However, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm the sun comes directly into the balcony area, which means it unusable until sun sets. Of course if you don't mind baking in the sun on the balcony, this is not really a concern. The room itself is pretty basic. The mini fridge of OK and TV has domestic channels only - no cable TV for BBC/CNN. The bathroom is of a good size. There is combined shower & bath. However, when using the shower, it can slightly flood this bathroom. A shower curtain may be desirable because the glass panel is not sufficient enough. At $225 per night this hotel was not cheap and you can better deals by coming in the off-season OR going bit further down the esplanade, and choosing another hotel. The Mantra does have its own pool and it is wonderfully heated, with normal deck chairs you would expect at 4 star hotel. However, the pool gets very little natural sunlight, because it of its location between 2 buildings. Overall, the hotel has amazing location, and it is still recommended, despite the shortcomings mentioned. My final note: When we checked in, I was impressed with the level of service provided by the receptionist. She had a very welcome attitude and a wonderful personality.
FFreeman SThe location is right on the strand of the beach. The sunset is very beautiful at dusk. It is also very convenient to go to the coffee shop to the supermarket and walk for 10 minutes. Buy all the daily necessities and sit on the terrace to watch the sunset until dusk, which is pleasing to the eyes.
As for the service, there is basically nothing except Check In. It's not like living in a hotel in the Asia-Pacific region, with five-star service

GGuest UserDaydream Island is not big, but it is very pleasant. There are many boat trips from Hamilton Island to Daydream ~ it is very convenient! The last boat we took took us to Daydream Island, and each of us was given a necklace made of small conch shells. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is rich. Kangaroos and stone plovers can be seen everywhere, and there are small sharks and stingrays in the pond... the overall feeling is very good! ! !
Key points to avoid: If you want to play or fly from Hamilton Island, choose to stay on other small islands. Do not live on Long Island. There is no direct boat from Hamilton Island to Long Island. You have to reverse the boat at Shute Port, and the frequency of flights Very few. (It took me half a day to inquire about various transportation routes that I had to call. It was really annoying, because there were no vacancies on Hamilton Island, and I was really afraid of sleeping on the island). We landed in Hamilton Island by plane and booked accommodation on Long Island. We returned to Hamilton Island the next day to take a helicopter to see Heart Reef. The earliest departure from Long Island was to Shute Harbor at 8 a.m. If we wanted to check in, we would have to go there the next day. I have to wait until 5:30 pm to get to Hamilton Island ~ Oh my God! At that time, I really believed the review of that hotel saying that the water bus was very convenient🐶🐶🐶 We had no choice but to give up going to Long Island and immediately booked accommodation on Daydream Island. The last schedule was taken by me at the Hamilton Island Ferry Terminal for your reference. Personally, I feel that Changdao is isolated and not developed by the same travel company. The room fee is non-refundable ~ so we wasted 2 nights of accommodation on Changdao. Moreover, the boat fare between the islands is not cheap. , everyone should also consider it when booking a hotel! It is worth mentioning that Daydream Island has given us a good mood for vacation again! ! ! I hope writing so much will help everyone! After all, no one wants to have such a bad experience when going out for fun.

Great rooms on the 22nd floor. The beds are very comfortable, and the room is spacious for up to 3/4 people.
The downside for us was that the staff at the reception told us that there wasn't a restaurant located in the hotel when we enquired while checking in, so we went out to look for something to eat after we checked in to the hotel, only to get back to find a brochure in our room advertising a Cafe conveniently located in the hotel for guests.
I highly recommend that the staff need to be informed of any changes in the hotel so that they are able to provide accurate information about the hotel to the guests.
The check-in and check-out process was great, made conveniently for guests and staff, there's no long cues at the reception👍🏾
We'll definitely be returning.
TTheobaldThis is a fabulous place to stay. We chose a studio room, with ocean view, and it was really worth it. Although we arrived late, we contacted call staff at the door and they talked us through the check in process. Service was kind and responsive throughout. The only small downside was that the rooms are only serviced once each 8 days. However, when we requested fresh towels they were happy to provide them. The pool complex is lovely - the pool is a little cold for winter, but the spa was comfortable and we really enjoyed the sauna. Breakfast was included, and we had the choice of three cafes in the complex, with delicious food at all three.
We can't wait to return!

Each person always had a smile and genuinely wanted to help. For example Gina and Alex in the breakfast restaurant Critique were extremely helpful and at your service. Rahul at reception was helpful and explained all the hotel facilities. The maintenance manager was extremely polite, friendly and helpful. The lagoon area made you feel as if you were in Bali, Phuket etc. To say it is spectacular is an understatement. For my entire stay, each staff member made my birthday extremely special, memorable and second to none ever experienced before. Thank you all the staff at JW.
