This is a beautiful resort that feels off the beaten path & tranquil from the moment we arrived after a long week on Safari in Tanzania. We had villa #1 which had a spacious living room, bathroom, and separate bedroom. It also had a private pool in the back yard. We choose the 1/2 inclusive package which was perfect for us. It included Breakfast every morning up to 12 noon which was great as we like to eat late while on vacation. It also included dinner every night. The food was very good and the dinner menu changed daily. So much delicious options and reasonably priced wine options made it easy. They have a very long pier at the ocean and it became a habit to get dressed up for dinner & walk out on the pier beforehand for a sunset cocktail. We loved the place so much we only left one day to do a tour of a spice farm and Stones Town. The spice farm experience was amazing & we learned so much about not just the type of spices the island is famous for, but how to use them in a variety of ways that as Americans, we simply didn’t know. Stones Town was very touristy but a not miss is the Slave Market. This is the historical site that documents the history of slavery on Zanzibar which was quite robust in the late 1800’s. As with any stay there are things that weren’t perfect as we had an issue with our pool, but the staff was quick to respond and apologized which made us feel that they truly cared about our stay. I would go back & I highly recommend this resort. Food = A Room = A Restaurant staff = A + Room cleaning staff A + Manager “ Anna” = A + Don’t hesitate to book a stay here!

The seaside hotel, although the beach is not very good, but the scenery is pleasant. The 5th floor is a restaurant. The restaurant is very good for eating and watching the sea. It is suitable for vacations and is about 5 kilometers from the urban area.

Wir verbrachten 6 Tage im Amani Villa Nature Retreat und sind sehr zufrieden und glücklich! Wer wirklich absolute Ruhe und eine gute Portion Luxus sucht ist hier genau richtig! Die Anlage besteht aus nur(!) 4 sehr großen Häusern ,das bedeutet mehr als 8 Gäste sind gar nicht möglich! Im Moment werden gerade 4 weitere Häuser gebaut ,was die absolute Ruhe aber überhaupt nicht gestört hat ! Während unseres Aufenthaltes waren wir die ganze Zeit die einzigen Gäste...!!! Das gesamte Personal war also nur für uns da ...was ein Luxus ...!! Das Essen ,egal ob Frühstück,Abendessen oder zwischendurch war hervorragend ! Vielen Dank an Adam ,unseren Koch ! Es wird hier sehr auf Nachhaltigkeit und Ruhe geachtet ! Wie zum Beispiel Wasser in Glasflachen ,so viel man möchte und immer kalt und erfrischend So gibt es auch keinen Fernseher... 2 kleine Abzüge in der ” B Note ” : Das W- LAN ist etwas schwach und es gibt keinen Kühlschrank in den Unterkünften. Zusammenfassend sind wir sehr begeistert und vollkommen zufrieden! GAAAANZ wichtig ...wer Ruhe und vollkommene Entspannung sucht ist hier absolut richtig . TL;DR - you need to go here, it's incredible. Super kind people, incredible views, villas, and vibes. This hotel was the best we have ever been to, and for many reasons. Combination of the view, atmosphere, food, kindness, activities all added to an incredible experience for our honeymoon. We loved our time here, and are already planning on going back in the future. Not just that, but every single person here was incredibly kind -- maybe it's culture of the country, or the culture of this hotel, but every person made us feel actually *appreciated* and felt like we were genuinely welcome and happy to have us there. We have been to many hotels, all with nice staff with professional courtesy, but never truly welcome as if by a friend to their home. Amazing time!

My stay at Samawa Living was absolutely phenomenal! From the moment I arrived, I felt an incredible sense of warmth and care from the staff. As a solo traveller, I was made to feel so safe and seen, which made the experience even more special. It truly felt like a home away from home. I’d like to give a special thanks to Kadogo, Hashimu, Baby, Asha, and the rest of the amazing team who went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. Their genuine kindness and attentive service stood out in every interaction. The location of the hotel was perfect – close to the iconic Paje Beach, with convenient access via buggy, so I could enjoy the beauty of the area while still retreating to the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the hotel. The boho vibes of Samawa Living were stunning, with every detail thoughtfully designed to create a cosy and serene environment. From the delicious meals to the immaculate rooms and tranquil ambience, everything about Samawa Living exceeded my expectations. I can’t wait to return! Check-in? Smooth as butter. Room? Cleaner than most 5-star hotels I’ve seen so far. Outside terrace? It’s literally Bali combined with Zanzibar. Staff? Friendliest people I’ve probably ever met. Food? The chef should be praised 24/7. This is just a summary of everything that should interest you. We arrived at Coral Rock at around 9am, knowing that check-in is usually at 2pm. We were greeted at the reception by a lady that informed us that the former guests will be leaving and as soon as the room is properly cleaned, we can go in. We left our luggage at the reception and proceeded to relax in the restaurant area while we waited. We had coffees, fruit platters and fresh juices and were entertained by Jerry, a staff member of Coral Rock. We had a very pleasant conversation, he had a wonderful smile and just made time pass easier. After what seemed to only be 5 minutes (but was actually 3 hours), we were informed by Ali (another staff member with whom we completely fell in love) that the room is ready. We proceeded to go to the reception to get the luggage - gasp - which was gone. Instead, the bags were waiting for us in a cool AC’d room, with a big bed full of flowers and fresh water bottles. To die for! This is just our first story with Coral Rock. The following days were amazing as well. Each day we dropped our key off at the reception so housekeeping can occur, which was done very seamlessly. The staff members (especially Ali and Jerry) always made sure to ask us if we need anything and if everything is to our liking. Now, the food… The food! We ate the greatest octopus and calamari ever! We also had a Swahili style seafood coconut curry, which was absolutely (again) to die for. Now, I’ve seen some bad reviews of the tuna tartaki (basically tuna steak), with people saying that it would always be way too dry and cooked extremely well done, which of course is not ideal with this dish; I decided to venture and try it out to see for myself. Needless to say, the reviews were either outdated or simply written by people that have nothing to do whatsoever with food, because it was cooked to perfection. Perfectly medium-rare in the center and crusted with toasted sesame seeds? It was absolutely mesmerizing how perfect that dish was made. I absolutely adored every single part of this experience. Other great dishes include the ramen (all variations of it, as we ate the beef, seafood and chicken ramen), the grilled veggies & calamari salad, the pineapple tart, the curries, and the list could go on and on and on. I was pleased to see the chef and his (cutest toddler ever) daughter, and I would congratulate him all day everyday if I could. We even got to enjoy a stunning floating breakfast all accustomed for by Ali! I can’t describe this place enough. I had high expectations, but Coral Rock exceeded them and then some! The villa is very beautiful and peaceful. Stayed there for 12 nights with my boyfriend and we enjoyed the villa so much. All the staff are super friendly and ready to always assist to your satisfaction. The food is very tasty and always freshly made. They are not a five star villa for nothing, They deserve more stars ❤️❤️❤️❤️ This is a very safe environment as well.

First of all, the advantages here are designer hotels, design with great care, rich characteristics, everywhere can make blockbusters. There are also many shortcomings. First of all, the location is remote and the price is not cheap. Except for the hotel itself having two kayaks, there is no sea exercise. The beach is not good, because there are fishing villages nearby, so it is dirty and there are many rocks. The food was exquisite and too delicate, leading to a little bit of food not enough. Unexpectedly, the fishing village next to it can buy the seafood that local fishermen catch every day. The price is incredible. I bring my own hot pot base to help the hotel process, which is absolutely satisfying for the stomach of the food. The hotel is built on topography, up and down are not very friendly to families with children, suitable for couples to travel

This is a little piece of paradise. The hotel is right on a beautiful beach and has a lovely infinity pool looking out to the ocean. The food is the best we had on the island. The owners and staff are lovely people they can’t enough for their guests, it really has a home from home vibe. The grounds are beautiful and the views when having your meals are breathtaking. Such a tranquil spot and the rooms are spacious comfortable and clean and the WiFi was great. I can’t fault anything about this hotel. Such a beautiful setting

I had a great two-night stay at this hotel, which looked like a cute holiday resort - perfect for relaxing after a 6-day safari. The staff were incredibly nice, and my room was cleaned after each night, which I really appreciated, even though it’s standard practice. There was only a flat sheet provided instead of a duvet, which confused me at first because the air conditioning made the room quite cold at night. However, after experiencing the heat and humidity of Zanzibar the next day, it made sense 😂 The bed was comfortable, the shower was clean with hot water, and the pool was beautiful. You can explore nearby villages, and the locals were so friendly. I even followed some local girls to a wedding on Friday 😆 Kids waved and smiled at me, and a few ran up to give me a hug! It was beautiful to see them enjoying themselves with simple, real activities like riding bikes and rolling car wheels, instead of being glued to technology. The whole atmosphere felt very vibrant and authentic. I didn’t try the restaurant, so I can’t comment on the food, but the breakfasts were nice. I spent an evening at the hotel bar, and the staff were great - friendly, funny, and they made good cocktails. They also ensured I reviewed and signed the bill at the end, so there were no issues with payments during checkout 😊 Asante Sana!

A beautiful oasis in a chaotic part of Zanzibar however sadly our experience wasn’t as expected. Reception staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, Egon really made a positive impact. However after that, we were all incredibly disappointed. Simple parts of hospitality seemed to missed throughout, we had issues with food and drink service taking over an hour to arrive each time and something always arriving cold. From ordering 3 portions of chips, to food for a table of 6, every thing took over an hour. At one stage, one coconut water took an hour to arrive. It’s appreciated a bigger table in a small hotel may take longer but it was the case with whatever was ordered. Similarly, if a delay is know it is common courtesy is to warn guests of such a delay. The hotel setting is beautiful, but again small efforts could be made to make experiences better. For example, the toilet in one of the rooms our party had flooded, it was sorted quickly however no new bath mat was given - the soaking wet one was left. I appreciate it’s a tropical climate but maggots were in the mango served one morning, when given back to the wait staff they apologised and nothing else was done. We’d expect the fruit to be kept in the fridge given the environment. Every day there would be another issue, although some trivia, on a holiday you don’t want to have to experience this. Management did speak to us about the slowness of service, mentioning it isn’t the same in Zanzibar as it is in Europe. A comment which felt like it was to provide an excuse and to belittle our cultural understanding. We are aware things run slower, but if you offer a hotel to tourists you’ve got to cater for them slightly! Between our party we had 3 rooms. We’d made it clear from the start we wanted specifics items on different rooms. This wasn’t done so instead we spent 40 mins on our last day sorting it. Again, not a task guests should have to do. We also couldn’t help but notice, water bottles were rightly filled up at the bar for free for 2 days of our trip. Given the 31 degrees and a 4 star hotel you’d expect this. The water ran out at one stage in the middle of the day and we were told there was no more, providing unnecessary stress to paying customer. After complaining that a hotel must have water available for guests in such heat, eventually more was delivered. That said, whilst management were watching by the bar suddenly we were to be charged. After the complaints about service already and a clear discomfort from guests, this felt was incredibly poor customer service. Unfortunately there is a lot more improvements for this hotel and until these are rectified and with so many other options around, I wouldn’t recommend until things have been improved. A real shame as it could have been lovely. I hope this feedback allows the hotel to improve in areas so future guests don’t experience such a poor service.

The hotel is built around mangroves and the monkeys could be seen all over the hotel which always made our day. It has an authentic feel and it was nice to see locals in the water harvesting seaweed and Maasai on the beach. There was a Maasai show one evening which was great fun to watch. The room had everything we needed and the bathroom / dressing area was huge. We were located near the lobby and there were no problems with noise. The hotel is beautiful and we were honestly awed as we walked around the hotel. We spent a lot of time on the jetty on the days we stayed in resort and had no problems finding sunbeds even when arriving at around 10. The jetty bar is great and a lovely place to spend an evening. It was windy at times but didn’t impact things too much. Admittedly we found the main restaurant did lack variety compared to other all inclusive hotels we stayed at but we always found something to eat. There is another restaurant on site that was payable and we visited twice for dinner while we were there. Fantastic service and food both times. The lobster (around $25) was huge. Staff are great and can’t do enough to help. We had several excursions during our stay which we all enjoyed and spent some time in Paje which is a short taxi ride from the hotel at a cost of around $20. I wouldn’t hesitate to return to Zanzibar and this hotel!

My family and I were in Zanzibar over the December holidays with accommodation booked at ngalawa hotel and resort. I must say the place was breath taking from the entrance. Palm trees all around. It was family friendly which allowed for easy entertainment of kids, with I don't know how many swimming pools( yes they are that many😉😄😄🙄). It is away from the chaos of the city but very close to a lot of activities and tourist sites. There is an in house travel guide who helps with tour booking and yes covid test booking. The staff was amazing always available. Restaurant also on site. I can write a book about this place. Go see it yourself 😉

The staff here are amazing especially Mr Ginton (F&B manager) and MADAM Jane (general manager) we requested them and suggested them they did there best to serve and change the breakfast to our likings. The staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning and loved the convenient location close to major attractions.”

My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon here and it was absolutely perfect. Tulia’s staff’s attention to detail is unparalleled. I truly felt like every want and need was taken care of and they thought of everything. For example, when we went on a one day safari excursion, they were sweet enough to pack us lunch for the day! I truly felt like I was staying with family. Also the entertainment they had during dinner every night was out of this world; they had acrobats, traditional Masai dances, and beautiful Zanzi bands. They also wrote us the most thoughtful, kindest letters both at arrival and departure and it made the trip so special. I’ll never forget my time at this paradise and look forward to returning soon. I’d like to give a special thanks to Lukas! All of the staff members were amazing but Lukas was particularly great - really enjoyed the Tanzania history lesson he gave us during a beautiful beachside lunch we were having.

We had a great time at this beautiful property. Everyone was very friendly and excited to engage with us; the food was delicious and the atmosphere was very vibrant. The location is spectacular, peaceful and it feels very cozy. Peter, Tessy and Emmanuel at the bar were quick to help us and took a great care of us. June, Vanessa, Kezia & Megan at the front desk were so pleasant and welcoming. Israel and Alt( and his wife in security) - bellman, also Tonny & Raymond at the pool and Asia were great. Olivo, Solomoni and Juma at the restaurant; Chef Dominic Gomez made sure we knew all about the local dishes and the locally sourced ingredients of all the dishes on the menu. Juma was such a pleasure to have spent time with. He made our dining experience truly memorable!

Every things are excellent and everybody are very pleasant, welcoming and always smiling. Kennedy, Edina, Peter, George Chef and all of them, without forgetting garden & housekeeping teams and Massaï people make the success of this paradise ! The new hotel is invested by Indians. It has a very good environment and the service industry is quite enthusiastic. The package includes three meals a day. I stayed here for two days. The quality of the food was quite good and not too repetitive. The front desk of the hotel can arrange to go to the peninsula beach opposite to watch the sunset, but the beach opposite requires a fee of 10,000 shillings per person. There are usually activities, performances, etc. on the beach. The hotel has a casual style, quiet and clean. Their general manager, Mr. Saipan, is very enthusiastic, and their waiter, Maxmillion, provides excellent service and recommends tasting their Stone City rose wine. In addition, I would like to take the opportunity to recommend a good local driver, Mohammed Ali, who is originally from Oman. He is a nice person. He found the beach where we can go chasing dolphins, watching starfish, snorkeling, etc. It only costs 30 dollars to charter a boat, three in front and one in front. During the hour, the captain also gave me fruit as a gift. I felt that the service was very good and I consciously tipped. It was a great experience. Toa hotel was really nice place to stay. The room/small bungalow was always clean, the bed was just perfect, very big and comfortable. Staff was always friendly and helpfull, no one was pushy, just always with smile Hakuna Matata :). Food was excellent, for breakfast you can choose many nice variatios of sweet and savory food. Dinner offered many possibilities and variations of grilled meat and fish ( i prefered beef tenderloin freshly grilled for you - it was sooo delicious with many kinds of sauces), many side dishes, fresh vegetables and fruits, also ,,pasta station,, was great, every day they had a differend types of pasta + pasta sauces and they made it fresh only for you, really tasty. We enjoyed the Pool Bar with salty water inside, was clean and they made nice all inclusive cocktails. If you are going to Zanzibar to see the nice sea - this is not the right place, beach is nice with a white sand and also beach bar, but the sea water is not there. You have to walk really really long to touch the sea, many corals and seaweeds. The low tide is there the whole day, so you can never reach the water - this was little bit sad because we’re excited to see the beautiful blue water od Zanzibar.

I highly recomend the hotel. We had a very nice room with a lovely view to the ocean. Very polite staff, food was delicious, everything was perfect. They take good care for the costumers, there is every day diferend kind of activities so it's never bored. I only missed a good espresso, but you can not find it in Zanzibar anyway.
