Poor experience at this hotel. First room service argued they had cleaned the room when they had clearly not and it took photographic evidence for staff to believe us. Also discovered that their check in staff charged the full price room as a deposit ($304) but only mentioned charging $70 at check in; this is an issue as the room was prepaid.
The room itself was comfortable and the pool and gym good. But poor and incompetent treatment by staff would put me off choosing to stay here again.
I like this hotel so much. In middle of cambridge city, great room, clean and neat.
Also have free public parking area. Staff friendly.
I like the breakfast too, have so many option.
Recommended. Will come back later.
Clean and spacious room with a lovely pool, nice breakfast, friendly service, next to the airport but if you drive, it only takes 10 mins to the Hamilton city centre.
Clean and not too dated inside the room
Very noisy bed to even sit on
Woken up at 7am with two continuous beeps/alarms, one louder than the other, the louder one stopped but quieter one continued
A banging happening at either the end of the hall or below us, really loud and would be the same amount of bangs each time!
Parking is VERY limited behind the hotel - very disappointed I had been told free parking which is why I booked it, then turned up to find no spaces and having to pay for on street parking all night
Because I want to participate in the Hobbiton event the next morning, the hotel is set at Matamata, and there is a bar downstairs. So the resonance of the bar at night will affect sleep. Some rooms in this room do not have a bathroom, so when booking Please consult in advance. Even the basin with bathroom is very small. There is no refrigerator in the room. The common kitchen is very small. There is only a refrigerator, a toaster, a kettle and a microwave, so you can only simply turn the food and not cook it yourself.
Welcome was good. The reception staff were friendly and accommodated our request for a river facing room. Overall the service was just okay for it's price. For its price, I feel that parking should be included. A limited parking that can be reserved at $36 was offered when I called in a day before as well as a free parking further down the hotel that is not guaranteed. We availed of the additional $36, this includes a valet service. The hotel room design was as expected of Novotel hotels, but it was not up to it's best standard. The remote control and kettle in our room was dusty. Amenities needed to be requested, I did this in advance during booking. But there were no slippers in the room upon arrival except for the 4 towels requested. Breakfast buffet was just the usual fare.
The motel was in a good location.
All of Whitianga's restaurants and a cinema were within walking distance.
Unfortunately, no air conditioning.
The room was very large with a separate bedroom and living room. There was an additional bed in the living room. However, the bedroom only had a small window, which I found very odd.
The small kitchen was quite practical.
Arrived very late, got the key from the key box. The house looks new, but the interior is average, with plenty of parking. There is a big bed downstairs and two small beds upstairs. The space is quite large, but there is no wardrobe, and the shower facilities are a bit old.

YYANGSIThe hotel location is very good, right by the lake and there are two big trees at the door. It is about 5 minutes walk from the swimming area and the commercial area where there are many eating places. The room was large and cleaned. The parking space is a bit small. The sunset at the door was beautiful.
GGuest UserBasically, this hotel (inn) has everything you want, but the quality is not high. The biggest advantage is that it is very convenient if you are traveling by car. The fact that you can park your car at the door is very good. Don’t count the other things. , which is also good. There is a large supermarket opposite which is convenient for shopping!
DDariaInteresting hotel in the historical building with the huge ceiling! Spacious room, very friendly and helpful staff. About 10 min walking from central station
CCalifornia JeanWe loved our stay at the Hahei Beach Resort! The room was lovely, complete with a private deck looking onto trees where the birds love to share their joie de vivre. Great beach location, wonderful for swimming and walking, fantastic hike up the hill to the lookout. The resort is like a club - very friendly, with camping facilities and a central area with a burger shop, pizza joint, and bar. The pizzas were amazing!!! Hahei town is an easy walk from the resort. Getting out of Hahei to see other Coromandel Peninsula sites requires a bit of a drive, but I think that keeps the town mellow. We would go back in a heartbeat.
Rreturn visitorA tiny motel, has basic amenities. Didn't know there's a communal kitchen until we were leaving.
It's a good stop over point, but most of the town closes either early or has long weekends, so make sure you have supplies beforehand. When we arrived there there was no reception, had a number and person to ring, the entrance is a bit tricky ”around the back”...yep that's exactly what it is.
GGuest UserThis was our second stay at Hygate. It's in a great location close to the city. The units are quite spacious, beds are really comfortable and everything else we needed was provided.
AAnonymous UserBooked the standard lake facing room - excellent view, right next to the lake. Room looks nicer than in pictures … could have been slightly upgraded since. Toilets a little dated but still all good. Requested for a second floor room for greater privacy. Ground floor rooms have direct access straight out to lake, but less privacy as people can walk right pass the rooms. But stairs only, no lift. Also, it would have been good to remind guests to please keep balcony door closed in evening so the midgets and flying insects don’t get in. I learnt the hard way.
GGuest UserI reserved an apartment with a sofa bed, and the room was far brighter and more spacious than the photos suggested. It was clean and roomy, with a pleasant balcony furnished with chairs, and parking was readily available. The location was convenient, near shops and a short walk or drive from the beach and supermarket. The only drawback was that noisy neighbors arriving late at night in large groups disturbed our sleep with their shouting. Despite this, it was the best accommodation we encountered during our trip.
