"This was the worst hotel we stayed at during our South Island trip, which might be due to its low price. We booked it for one night because it was right across from the Onsen hot springs we had planned to visit. Firstly, I was really unhappy with the cleanliness. Maybe it's because the facilities are old, but the whole room felt dirty, especially the bathroom. The toilet even had issues. Secondly, it got very cold at night, and the heating unit was incredibly noisy. Plus, this was the only hotel on our entire trip that charged a $100 deposit, and it still hasn't been refunded by the end of our trip. When I called the front desk, they said it would take 7 business days, which is completely unreasonable!"

"Amazing hotel. Good service and friendly staff members. Nice king bed and we had an extra sofa bed which is a bonus, it was set-up for free for us as my partner sleep snoring very loudly. The location is great and easy to find. The downgrade was the parking, there was no free parking as we had to pay $20 per 24hr. So we had to spent $60 just for parking, its ridiculous expensive. The hotel should've provide it free parking. But other than that the stayed was amazing. Had a great restaurant by the wharf and the food is amazing and bonus with an amazing views."

"I booked a Select Suite and noted my requests in the email. Although I didn't get a first-row room, 708 still offered a good view, and overall I was very satisfied. The environment is beautiful, and it's about 500 meters from the 'Lonely Tree'. I had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant, and the value for money was good; the breakfast scones are highly recommended! A few minor drawbacks: Firstly, the kitchen range hood was very poor; the smell lingered after frying steak. Secondly, it's a bit far from the town, about 2 kilometers, which takes 30-40 minutes to walk. Thirdly, heating primarily relied on electric heaters and air conditioning, making it a bit dry, and the bathroom was quite cold."

"The location is good, and it's a hotel that actually 'feels like a hotel' in New Zealand standards. The bed was very comfortable. However, the facilities are really old-fashioned, but well-maintained. Parking requires a fee. Breakfast is very simple, I don't feel it's worth going out of your way for. Overall, it was a good experience."

"The views are stunning and the atmosphere is fantastic. Our room was on the second floor, which was a bit inconvenient with large luggage. You can always ask the front desk staff in advance if you'd like to switch rooms. It's super close to the Lonely Tree, which is incredibly convenient."

"Hotel with nice history, beatiful garden and relax zone. In the hotel you can find bar and restaurant with nice food and fireplace. For guests is also available hot tub. Room itself was small, with very old tv and basic facilities. It would be nice if the windows are clean also from outside because having birds dropping decrease guests general feeling about the room."
