"Hotel Mt Fuji has the best views of Lake Yamanaka and Mt Fuji. It is located high up on a hill and looks down over the lake. Shuttle bus service to and from Yamamakako iriguchi was excellent. The staff in 7 eleven kindly called for me to be picked up on arrival and again on the second day of my stay. The breakfast was the best in the past 2  weeks of my trip. Japanese breakfast is so delicious. The omelette chef was such a perfectionist and each was made perfectly. Staff were particularly helpful and the public baths , there are 2 different locations ,are excellent, both very different. The hotel itself is very old and dated and could do with a renovation. However saying that, the room was very spacious and comfortable. I loved being able to open the window which had an insect screen and have fresh air. The only thing I did not like is that you could not wear your yukata to breakfast. No big deal really. I would highly recommend Hotel Mt Fuji."

"This onsen ryokan offers excellent value for money. The room window faces Mt. Fuji directly, so waking up to that view was incredibly moving. The ryokan itself is also new and very comfortable. Although I didn't dine at their restaurant, I did take a look inside, and the interior decor is tasteful. I would definitely choose to stay here again."

"We were incredibly lucky to get room 111. As soon as we opened the window, there were many clever koi fish. Whenever someone was on the balcony, they would immediately come over. There was fish food available at the hotel entrance; it was self-service. We were very touched. We had a five-year-old child traveling with us, and the hotel staff always made sure to include the child's utensils when preparing cutlery in the restaurant, even though we hadn't ordered dinner for him. We will definitely come again. Thank you."

"Everything else was fine, but the small pan used for frying eggs at breakfast was terrible. The Teflon coating was completely peeling off, yet they were still using it. This is really irresponsible regarding guests' health! And it's also very unappetizing for those dining. I reported it to the hotel staff, but they didn't seem to take it seriously, as I noticed they were still using the same pan at later meals."

"Approximately 11 min walk from the station which isn’t too bad. However, it might be quite a walk if you have 2 big luggages. Booked a private room on the 2nd floor and thankfully the staff (male) helped us carry our bags up the stairs. The shower was well equipped with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash and lots of hot water and good pressure. Walls are rather thin so you can hear people walking up and down the stairs or even opening their bags. Hotel view was amazing from the room"

"Service staff were efficient, although queueing to trade your keys for your shoes slowed things down. (Understandable, because this is also a day-trip onsen, so the hotel needs to ensure all tabs are covered before letting guests go.) Facilities were old but well-maintained, although my room window couldn't be closed without force. Wide variety of baths to choose from, and convenient hours. Note that there is no shampoo, conditioner or body soap in guestrooms, as this is an onsen facility - all soaps and bath amenities are provided in the onsen area. Several onsite restaurants providing many food options, which made up for the lack of vegetarian-friendly options around the area."

The hotel's location is excellent. It's right by the lake, and the red line bus stop is practically at the doorstep, making it super convenient for getting around. You can even see Mount Fuji from your room! Breakfast was incredibly varied and served by room, so it never felt crowded. The onsen (hot spring) was also great; for just 900 JPY, you can enjoy it for free! The water was very hot though, so I couldn't stay in for too long.

Probably one of the most kids friendly hotels I’ve ever been to. The entire basement is full of kids activities and the highlight is the massive wooden playhouse. Third floor has multiple game rooms (train room, music room, wooden ball runs) and a big japanese style tatami communal lounge with boardgames, free flow drinks and snacks at certain timing. There are even rental of potty seats, high chairs etc FOC. However, we went late March and the surrounding areas are mostly closed. We almost couldn’t find a restaurant to eat past 8pm. Makiba park and Moegi village were closed too. I’d suggest going at the non-peak period for more activities outside of the hotel, make your 4-hr drive from Tokyo worthwhile! The rooms are old Japanese style, slightly dated but spacious and clean. Hot spring is more like a big bathhouse. Staff are friendly and helpful. Keep it up!

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Shimobe Hotel. I originally wanted to stay at a nearby temple in Mount Minobe but realized that it was mainly an experience made for foreigners. I think we were the only foreigners there for our 2-night stay. I personality want to avoid staying with foreigners and want more of the local experience. The service was great, they could check you in and out without too much of a language barrier. We added dinner during check-in without any problem, we realized that the town closed early at night and was concerned that we wouldn't find a great place to eat dinner. The buffet dinner was great and we got a complimentary sashimi plate and yuzu highball on our second day. The breakfast buffet was also very good with a mix of local and western dishes. The station is located right near the hotel so it makes it a perfect spot to make a quick Mount Minobe day trip.

Yanagiya is a nice little local onsen. They do not have too many rooms so you will not feel overcrowded. It is a nice place to spend for days to relax your body and mind. Staff are very friendly and helpful. They can speak limited English but in case you come across any issue with language, feel free to use translation app. If you are driving, the onsen is easy to find and there is a carpark in front of the Onsen with plenty of space. There are also 2 x EV charging but not sure if they are for onsen guess. The room is spacious, clean and tidy. The air conditioner is featured with heater and cooler function, so you don't have to worry about weather during winter and summer. The hot spring is open for 24 hrs, except time when they swap between male and female access, usually it takes 30 minutes and they take this opportunity to clean up the facilities too. Food are generally fine and portion is reasonable. Staff are caring d considerate. We have two kids at age of 7 and 9 and they do not take spicy or raw food. When they noticed, they have offered to tailor made the breakfast for the kids so that they don't prepare food that kids do not eat.

Warm and cozy place to recharge yourself after a visit in the Kawaguchiko area. All amenities and facilities are just perfectly clean and easily accessible, while they are keeping some of the Japanese customs which adds more elements in your stay. Host and staff were extremely friendly and attentive, just right by your side whenever you need them. Deffo recommend without reservation if you’re visiting Kawaguchiko soon.

We loved the room and it was very big and comfortable and the mattress was excellent. The hotel is very clean and friendly. Service is very good and especially to the front desk executive  Mr Yuta. And most importantly the aircon and the heater which is very important as the temperature was -10c. And free parking very important if you drive.

Our trip to Lake Kawaguchiko with Mount Fuji was a fresh and exciting experience! We got to see Mount Fuji and also enjoy a campfire and camping. It's perfect for families, couples too, and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 The location isn't super close to Kawaguchiko Station; it's about an 11-minute taxi ride, so it's more suitable for those with their own car. Along the way, you'll see a pretty big daily necessities shopping area worth exploring. At the hotel's entrance, there's a burger joint, a pizza place, and a steak restaurant, all of which are quite good. The hotel has its own shuttle bus 🚌. To get picked up from Kawaguchiko Station to the campsite, you need a Japanese phone number to call and book in advance. There's no shuttle service on weekends. For the return trip to Kawaguchiko, you can book with the front desk beforehand, and they'll drop off both people! We didn't know this and only found out by chance when we met other guests taking the shuttle! An 11-minute ride saved us over a hundred yen in taxi fares, sniff sniff~ PAO is the tent area ⛺, and Villa is the small villa area 🏡. For first-timers, I'd recommend the small villas. The tools and facilities explanations there are more comprehensive and complete, plus they have a private hot tub! For those in the tent area, the restrooms are outside the tent, which is a bit inconvenient. Both areas can use the large public bath in the lobby, which is separated by gender. The email mentioned that outside food is not allowed, and breakfast and dinner require ordering the hotel's set meals to cook yourself. However, the room comes with a bundle of firewood and a portable stove. In the PAO area, you can experience chopping wood, and we were given a glass bottle to remind us to try fetching water from Mount Fuji. There's also an 'Easter egg hunt' activity where you can exchange a certain number of finds for small gifts. This camping spot encourages building a fire for warmth 🔥, but remember to operate it correctly and safely in designated areas. On a clear night, sitting outdoors by the fire with a blanket, gazing at the stars, creates an incredibly atmospheric experience 🌌. Even though it was my first time and I didn't do extensive research, I already think it's unbeatable. Coming here as a family was much more interesting and fun than just seeing the lake, cherry blossoms, and shopping in Kawaguchiko. We had a blast! 🥰🥰🥰
