"The previous reviews are spot on. The entrance is indeed a bit hard to find, and Google Maps doesn't quite get it right. It's actually right at the intersection of Daigaku Dori (Rikushoen) – turn in at the traffic light, at the road sign for Beppu University (see pictures 1 and 2). The staff were excellent and very thoughtful. We bought some fireworks ourselves, and they helped us set up with water and a bucket so we could light them on the sand. The shampoo and hairdryer were great! This is the only place in Beppu where you can enjoy sand baths. You can choose to just go for the sand bath, but it's super convenient to stay there and walk over. Do note that the sand bath costs extra. The room has a beautiful view and is quite spacious. It was just too hot in summer, so we didn't get to fully enjoy the private onsen. The only downside is that it's next to a main road, so it can be a bit noisy."

Breakfast was OK but also grateful to make the right choice not to be there for dinner
Because the food is more Japanese if you want to eat traditional Japanese cuisine there may be a gap
Between ancient Japanese style and new style hotel design chose this design sense hotel purely because I personally do not like to sleep tatami ground floor
The room space is very large comfortable courtyard and bathroom are done enough privacy
Overall feeling is very good will stay again next time
Self-drive tour in my land so distance is not an issue
The hotel also has a free shuttle service"

"My friends and I are very satisfied with this hotel. We were a little worried at first because the room facilities still maintain the old style (key-operated doors, traditional old-style tatami mats and paper doors). We booked the ”one bed, two meals” package, and dinner was at Choose to eat kaiseki cuisine in the room. The chef's craftsmanship and menu design made us feel that it was well worth the money spent this time! !
Although the dining space for breakfast is not large, every dish is very delicious!
If you want to talk about the shortcomings, it is probably that the space for bathing is not large, but my friends and I think that compared to other hot springs that are full of people, this environment is quite refined and comfortable.
The hotel's lobby and public spaces have all been transformed into a modern style, and not only free drinks are provided (there are even draft beers for you to drink).
I personally like and recommend this hotel"

Guest UserThe front desk staff who checked us in were very patient in explaining all the facilities and services, which we were very satisfied with. The breakfast was excellent, and they even had Ranoh eggs. The lobby had various yukatas available for rent, in both adult and children's sizes. The onsen (bathhouse) was a bit small, but offered nice night views of Beppu. We lost our room key upon checkout and had to pay 1500 yen for a replacement.

Guest UserOne of the nice features of this hotel is that you can enjoy the onsen while looking out over the ocean.
However, it is not very convenient without a car. I walked all the way from Beppu Station before discovering that the hotel offers a free shuttle bus. I’ve attached the shuttle bus schedule—I’d strongly recommend using it.
The room was the biggest disappointment. Although it was advertised as a renovated, high-floor ocean-view room, it still felt very old. The bathroom was especially outdated, and there was a very high step between the bathroom and the room, making it easy to trip. The room really feels like it needs a proper renovation.
Overall, the ocean-view onsen was enjoyable, but the rooms did not match my expectations.

Guest UserIt’s perfect for watching sunrise as our room was facing direct east. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and we couldn’t watch that. Location wise is perfect if looking for a getaway in tranquility, otherwise got to drive out for dining or convenience stores. Hotel staff is very polite and friendly. They also serve afternoon snack around 3pm. A very nice gesture especially for guests waiting for check in.

YyyyeeeoojThe stay was decent overall, but there is definitely room for improvement. While the general experience was okay, the room cleanliness wasn't up to par—specifically, there was an unpleasant odor coming from the cups and the bathroom. Additionally, the door leading from the balcony to the hot spring room couldn't be securely locked, which was a bit concerning. With better housekeeping and maintenance, this would be a much better place to stay.

This onsen hotel exceeded my expectations – it was truly excellent!
First off, every room has its own private onsen, offering complete privacy, so you can enjoy a hot spring bath anytime you like! The hotel environment is beautiful, perfect for taking photos. We were lucky enough to encounter snow, which was the icing on the cake!

Guest UserThe staff members were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel overall was very cozy, particularly the onsens. Although all the four onsens were opened for all guests at the hotel, you can use one of them as long as you want because guests are instructed to hang a sign on the onsen to show that it is currently occupied. This is a great way for the guests to enjoy privacy to themselves, although it is opened publicly. Dinner and breakfast was included in the package so we did not have to worry about finding nearby restaurants. The food was delicious here! Would definitely recommend if you enjoy traditional Japanese meals to get the full experience. We had a private barbecue for dinner, and it was truly immaculate! However, there was smoke all over the hotel lobby coming from the barbecue so it would have been better if they kept the windows opened. It was also indoors so it was slightly overwhelming with all the smoke everywhere in the restaurant. But everything else was on point and breakfast was particularly delicious.

Guest UserRoom: neat clean space. lights and Aircon . the area between the beds is very spacious and there are large lockers so plenty of space to store your stuff . Bathroom: two normal showers and a large shower room where you can rent a bath hammock thing. three vanity sinks in this bathroom, then there's a toilet room with three toilets and three sinks, so lots of options. shampoo conditioner and body wash supplied. decent hairdryer. washing machine 300 yen, then dryer 100 yen per 15 mins. Security: pin code on dormitory. Amenities: there is a kitchen space and you can also order food from the 5th floor of the tower to the hostel lounge. Location: about ten minute walk from the station. plenty of eating places and shops nearby. there is a bus stop right outside. Other: might be useful if there were bins in the dormitory rather than having to go back and forth between the lounge. hooks in the bed area might also be useful e.g. for hanging your towel, although I suppose you could put it in your locker

Guest UserThis onsen hotel is great! We opted for the half-board plan (dinner and breakfast included), which was super convenient. Although the hotel is a bit older, everything is very well-maintained. The shower pressure was excellent, and the wet/dry separation in the bathroom was really good. Japanese hotels are always clean, of course. It's also just a 5-minute walk (300 meters) from Yufuin Station. Overall, we were very satisfied with everything! 👍
