"We had a wonderful stay at Urakusatsu Tou, a brand-new hotel that truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly escorted by the staff. Although parking was allocated at a private outdoor parking area, the hotel thoughtfully provided an escort service, making the process very smooth and comfortable. The room was spacious and beautifully designed. Communication was easy as the receptionist spoke fluent English. The hotel also provided pajamas and daily clothing, which was a lovely and convenient touch. The onsen experience was outstanding—definitely one of the best we’ve ever had. You can immediately feel your skin becoming smooth after soaking, which made each visit incredibly relaxing. We stayed for three nights with both breakfast and dinner included. Meals were served à la carte, and the menu changed daily, surprising us every time. The food was delicious and very filling—we were completely satisfied after every meal. That said, there are a few areas we hope the hotel could improve: • During winter, the room felt quite cold as the air-conditioning heater did not function properly and was unable to warm up the room. • Breakfast hours could be extended a little later for guests who prefer a more relaxed morning. • Providing a choice of pillows would further improve sleeping comfort. • The blue indicator light on the room’s control panel remains very bright even when all lights are turned off, which can be a bit distracting at night. Overall, this hotel offers excellent service, comfort, and an unforgettable onsen and dining experience. Highly recommended, and we believe it will be even better with these small improvements."

"The hotel is located about half an hour's drive from Shangmao Plateau Station. The hotel has a free shuttle bus. The hotel will send an email one day in advance to confirm whether you need to book a shuttle. The hotel is in a small village, there are no modern facilities around, such as small hotel cafes, etc., basically can play in the hotel. The hotel is divided into two pieces, one is the location of the main hotel lobby, with the hotel lobby, restaurant, and small courtyard, as well as a public hot spring pool open to the outside world. The other is to ignore, mainly with accommodation rooms, a hot spring developed only for the accommodation passengers, and a small cable car. Two places can be reached by the hotel's unmanned tram, but the tram is very slow. It takes about 4 minutes to walk normally, and you need to walk a lot of stairs, which is not very friendly to passengers with inconvenient legs and feet. The overall style of the hotel is similar to the retro farm style, a bit like living in a small temple, the overall layout of the room and outside the hotel is quite detailed, there are many old-looking decorations, and the hotel also collects a lot of antiques. It feels different from other Japanese and modern Western hotels I usually live in, which is quite novel. The hot spring in the main hall seems to be a mixed bath for men and women. The other hall is separate for men and women. The hot spring has a sulfur taste but is not heavy, indoors and outdoors. If you eat a meal, I personally feel that the medium is a little bit above the level. The weight is really big. It is no problem to eat. 😂 The hotel is built on the hillside. Our room is at the highest point of the other hall. It overlooks the large rice fields in front of the hotel. The view is very wide and the scenery is very good when the sun is good. The room is large as a whole and private. There is a bathtub in the room, but it is not hot spring water. To sum up, the hotel style is quite distinctive, the view of the room is good, but the traffic is not particularly convenient, and the overall price/performance ratio is still slightly lower for me. Originally, I didn't book other hot spring hotels before I temporarily booked this one with a vacancy. Overall, the experience is medium-sized"

"The inn is located at the highest point of the stone steps of Ikabo Onsen, and the room offers a view of the scenery down the mountain. Although old, but still well maintained, staff service attitude is good, the lobby has free coffee, tea and other drinks. It's a pity that I went to the wrong open-air hot spring because I didn't listen to the staff's introduction."

"This is a fantastic hot spring hotel, offering a one-night stay with two meals, making it a great value. Breakfast and dinner are both buffets, and the buffet spread is excellent, especially the seasoned steaks, freshly squeezed orange juice (made on the spot), and pre-made banana milkshakes. In the evening, there's a Japanese folk song and dance performance, as well as adorable Kusatsu souvenirs—very kawaii. It was a truly memorable, enjoyable, and satisfying trip. The room also has its own onsen, which maintains a constant 38°C temperature and automatically refills when the water level drops. The room is stocked with high-end Kose shampoo and hair products, a high-end hair dryer, facial toiletries, lotion, hair products, and several kimono accessories. Booking a room with an indoor bath also offers executive lounge access from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and access to the newly opened VIP onsen in the annex, essentially renting the entire place out. It's very nice."

"I used it when I came to climb Joshu Takeru no Mikoto Very bright. Cleanliness is good The owner is also a nice home inn with kindness. The shower also comes out with a lot of water. "Facilities: Very comprehensive, most common amenities are available, but some in-room facilities are a bit old. Hygiene: No major issues, overall feeling was good. You even have to take off your shoes before entering the hotel, and you can wear socks throughout the entire hotel. Environment: Beautiful views and great hotel design, plus very attractive private hot spring landscaping. I think it met my expectations. Service: Nothing exceptionally special, but everyone was very enthusiastic in providing service, which I really appreciated."

"The hotel is not far from the Kusatsu central area, about an 8-minute walk from the Kusatsu bus stop. I had booked a tatami room, but was given a twin room instead. The room was spacious with windows on two sides. The hotel's large public bath was spacious, although the outdoor pool was a bit small, only accommodating 3-4 people. Dinner was Japanese cuisine, but the variety and portions were limited, and the ingredients weren't particularly special. The staff were polite, and there was a shuttle bus to the Kusatsu bus stop. Overall, the price is worth comparing with other options before making a decision."

"The hotel should be old, the air conditioner is still old-fashioned, the sound is a bit loud, but fortunately it is not very hot, and it can be closed at night. The boss is probably a person who likes to paint. I don’t know if the watercolor painting on the wall of the room is painted by the boss, and it still feels good. The breakfast tasted good, and there were many guests dining in the morning, indicating that the hotel's occupancy rate was very high, and it was estimated that they were all old guests."

"If you're a foreigner, a translation tool is essential because the staff don't speak English, or their accent was hard for us to understand. When we couldn't communicate, they seemed annoyed (90% of the staff didn't smile at us). There was an older staff member who was friendly, especially the one handling ski activity bookings. 🤬🤬 Absolutely terrible. The food was mediocre, not much variety or taste. The room was clean, and the onsen bathroom with amenities was excellent. In summary, due to poor communication and the staff's lack of enthusiasm in recommending snow activities, my trip ended in tears 😭😭. I had planned to do many snow activities, but instead, I just walked around, built snowmen, and rolled in the snow. I won't be coming back here next trip. I'll look for a hotel that's more welcoming to Thais."
