The hotel was clean and tidy , and room was adequate for our stay , bed was very comfortable . The staff were very friendly and helpful ,in reception and dining room .The Breakfast was a buffet selection ,self service , with Tea or Coffee, good selection to choose from .The dinner menu was also good ,with a choice of Starters ,Mains & Desserts ,all good wholesome food of a pub type menu. After a day out ,went for a drink in the Ossett Head Bar in the hotel grounds , nice pleasant ambient setting , this was the only time , it never opened again for the duration of our stay. The only other bar is in the dining room , and this was only open , during meal times , no soft furnishings , only dining tables . dont know if you could take drinks from there , into the guest lounge ,never informed. Plentiful supply of Tea & Coffee in room ,which you had to replenish from reception . i am now Tea Total & Alcohol Free after this mini vacation .

Visited the hotel at the end of September, we were greeted by Dale, he provided exceptional customer care, gave all information about our room, meal times, WIFI access and local attractions, museums and antique stores, friendly and professional a real credit to the team. Our room was well presented, clean and tidy, had all the basic amenities, fresh linen and towels each day, tea station provided, decent sized TV with Freeview access, small single wardrobe with spare pillows in, dressing table and ensuite with shower and bath. We encountered one issue with our room, which was the window couldn't be shut, we spoke to the reception and this was resolved momentarily. Kasia delivered exceptional customer satisfaction, waiting on us in the dining room and serving at the bar, Kasia went above and beyond to provide us with our requests. Our late meals were prepared and presented by Wes, high quality food, at a very reasonable price, there was good menu options, just part of one of our meals we had we were pleasantly surprised with the small touch added, we ordered the buffalo chicken wings, and we were provided with a bowl of warm lemon water to cleanse our fingers. We thought this was amazing, as other restaurants we've been to, do not. In the mornings, we were served a continental breakfast, large range with a variety of cooked breakfast, cereal, toast and juices. Hotel has the added benefit of free parking, close to local attractions, high-street shops within walking distance, bars and clubs outside if you wish to go for a drink, although there is a bar at the hotel which is well served and presented. Over all, we were extremely pleased and would absolutely rebook for a weekend away.

Lovely comfortable bed with very nice bedding and super comfy pillows. The room was huge and had a lovely outside area to sit and relax. Breakfast was very nice as was the setting of the dining room. Staff super friendly especially Emily on reception nothing to much trouble and she made you feel very welcome. Every hotel needs an Emily!! Can’t wait to return .

Right by the lake, there is a pier for boat rides, there is a fish and chips shop and a pet shop downstairs, buy snacks and water in advance. It is very comfortable to live here, and there is a bus stop 5 minutes away.

Very friendly hotel. Clean and tidy. Every staff member greeted and answered questions with a smile. Check-in and check-out were very convenient. The breakfast was very good, more exquisite than other chain hotels. The snacks were delicious. This is the only hotel room that provides mineral water among the 10 hotels I stayed in.

Low budget - hotel decor dated - windows old and badly painted. Welcome was friendly and helpful. Bar but no evening meals or lunches. Next door to Carlisle Railway Station on one side and Costa Coffee on other side. Several stairs to get up with cases. Single bed was surprisingly comfortable and surprisingly cosy. Small bath and shower - lashings of hot water. Breakfast adequate - a bit of everything. Bacon was dried out by 7.30am but sausages were delicious. Solid fried eggs on offer. Mainly tinned fruit with apple and yoghurt. Ubiquitous coffee machine…. Instant is better .. but they are all doing it. Juice and fresh milk on offer. Small selection of cereals. My room was cheap - noisy outside… the car park had replacement coach services… but worst of the swearing and shouting stopped around 1.00am. Hotel was warm and dry. A small lift for one with luggage. Staff were very kind - left my luggage in a locked room while I went to get my hire car. At half the price of similar low-facilities hotels I was happy enough. Might do without breakfast in future and go to Costa.

Visited with wife for weekend break. First class service from moment you arrive at gatehouse. All staff attentive, polite and easy to have a conversation with. This starts with concierge, moves on to reception and on to bar, pub, restaurant and spa. Room was decent size - do not need massive room as will not spend much time in here. Nicely decorated, clean and well attended. We had room with hot tub on balcony which was great. Had food in hotel bar, in pub attached to spa and In restaurant. All excellent. Bar staff great with good choice of drinks and cocktails. Perhaps stock some gluten free bottled beer in future! Apart from that catered for my gluten intolerance very well and on second visit to restaurant they remembered this and had gluten free canopies for me. Only negative for me was daily car park charge because I didn’t book direct but I know for future. Well worth a visit.

We had one overnight stay while traveling South. Hotel was easy to find with use of Google maps. Plenty on site parking. Efficient check-in. Room was compact, but comfortable. Nice hot shower. Towels were provided. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which felt a bit more like a pub with football on TV and a pool table. Not everything on the menu was available to order; although salmon and burger were lovely and plentiful. The waiter was very helpful. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, as we brought our own. Hotel popular with white van drivers.

The family room booked can sleep three people no problem. The hotel reserved the best room with a small balcony where you can sit on the balcony and have a cup of coffee and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Parking is free, which is perfect.

The bad is that the overall management of this hotel, in our experience, was very poor. There were multiple occasions (in just 2 days) when what was arranged and agreed was just not acted upon. Here's some examples: On arrival a member of staff kindly reserved a breakfast table for 4 the following morning (as we were staying with another couple) but it was taken by somebody else when we came down so we had to assume this information wasn't passed to the breakfast team. We then arranged for seating for 5 people at breakfast the following morning - different staff member said that was fine and made a note of the room numbers - yet again this wasn't done and when we asked them to make up an unoccupied table set up for 4 to a 5 (plenty of room to add another chair ) this was refused. Weeks before arriving our friends had asked for their room to be set up as a twin rather than a double but of course that hadn't been done either. We asked for our room not to be serviced during our 2 night stay yet the first morning staff knocked to come in when my partner was on the toilet - again relevant details not passed on. We were told we had reserved parking spot at the rear of the property but parking was a free-for-all. The reception area seemed to be locked up and unmanned most of the time. Yes, there was a bell to ring, but you'd expect a member of staff to be visible especially in the mornings. Finally, whilst most staff were friendly and polite, one senior staff member was off-hand when dealing with a simple request (and we overheard her being brusque with another couple). Her attitude was unpleasant and gave the impression that customers were really a bit of a nuisance. Maybe we just picked a bad weekend so whilst it wasn't a totally awful stay by any means there was enough incidents over a short period to put us off staying there again or recommending it to anyone if it continues to be run in this slack and unprofessional way. I do worry for its future.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lovely cosy hotel, our room was very comfortable, shower was good as was the bath. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well both nights. It was very quiet. Breakfast was brought to your door in the morning at a time convenient for you and was really nice, choice of cereal, hot roll, yoghurt, juice, tea or coffee. There is a kettle with tea, coffee and milk in the room too. Wifi was good. Our host Jenny was super and very helpful with walks in the area. All in all I would definitely recommend staying here. Don't let the signs of building work outside put you off..it was not an issue at all.

The environment is great. You can see the lake when you go out. It is the hotel's private lake view. The room is also large and the hygiene is good in all aspects. There is no elevator, but staff can carry luggage. But it is more suitable for self-driving friends. There are very few bus trips and you can only take a taxi. In the Lake District, there are only local taxis and no Uber.

Went here for just an overnight on our wedding anniversary.We are in our 70's (just in my wife's case) and celebrating 23 years of a 'second chance' Room was perfect with large balcony, enabling us to make the most of a day of sunshine. Chocolates and wine left for us and everything spotless. From checking in to dining through advice on the area to checking out - staff were perfect in their attention. Had table as requested next to windows, for the view, for dinner Restaurant service also could not be faulted. In Ireland for a wedding on our anniversary next year but will need another visit here well before then.

The hotel has its own parking lot, no reservation is required, just register the license plate number when checking in. It is only a few minutes walk from the pier and Peter Rabbit World.

I especially recommend this hotel, a old English villa, which is newly renovated and British style. It is very clean and full of toiletries. It is 3 minutes away from the town by car. The room can see part of the lake view and the surrounding environment. Very good, I especially like their afternoon tea, the tea set is very exquisite, and I look at it with great care! Part of the breakfast is buffet, and the main meal is à la carte, with a large portion and enough to eat! If you have children staying with you, you must tell the hotel in advance that the children need to charge a fee of £28.50/piece/night! This fee includes breakfast and extra bed. If it is not stated in advance, the fee will still be charged, but there will be no extra bed! Expresso capsule coffee is provided free of charge in the room, which is my favorite. Those who like coffee are very surprised!

The staff were all dressed smartly, and I got the impression they all loved working there. I had booked for my wife’s birthday and had also booked a table in the Henrock restaurant inside the hotel. The food was amazing, delicious and perfectly presented and served. Each delicious course was the lead up to the most amazing dessert I have ever eaten, and it was a rhubarb based dessert, which under normal circumstances is a contradiction where desserts are concerned normally, however this was an explosion of delicious tastes and textures. Would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant and we both hope to return, sooner rather than later.

The morning after the night before. It gives me great satisfaction to be able to pen a review of all things positive. Only a 1 night stop over en route to Scotland from Manchester. On arrival, front of house team Theo and Mel excelled. After a breeze of a check-in the first thing I noticed was the beautiful, spacious and most importantly clean Restaurant and bar area. Anybody staying here will not be disappointed. Thankfully dogs are welcome but kept away from main eating areas, a rule we were happy to adhere to. Theo in particular is a staff member Ibis/Accor should be extremely proud of. He was very knowledgeable about the chain and I could imagine all things Accor would be his specialised subject on Mastermind. I have stayed at the Travelodge down the rd and for a hotel of the same raring, the Ibis is streets ahead. I hope Management take the time to read this review and reward staff members (Accor)dingly. Well done!!!

The staff were very friendly, room & beds were clean but a little sp**** & needing some renovation. The breakfast was lovely, plentiful & made to order, choice of cereal, toast, cooked breakfast, tea & coffee. The only downside was the boom booming of the music from the bar going on to the early hours.

Stayed here for an overnight stop coming back from Edinburgh. Staff were really helpful and friendly - in fact I would say some of the best staff I have encountered at a hotel. Rooms were clean and tidy with good amenities should you need them and also nice to have plentiful tea/coffee/water facilities in the room. Beds were comfy, everything was clean including towels etc. The water pressure wasn't the best in the shower, but it was ok - I'm being really picky to be fair. Breakfast was great value (booked when booking the room) with lots to choose, there was something for everyone, continental, cereals, cooked, tea's coffee, juices etc etc If I'm up that way again, I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is in great need of some tlc. Very tatty and in some parts repair is needed. It seemed clean enough and the staff were helpful but the place itself was not good value for money. On arrival to the twin room we'd booked, we found only one bed had a duvet on it. We were given another room which was a double and less suitable for us as it meant sharing a bed. There was a hell of a lot of noise from other guests, both above and in the room next to us, and the walls seemed very thin. So we didn't get much rest. The included breakfast was fair and cooked to order, although quite limited beyond the cooked part.

The room was clean and hygienic. I found two socks left by previous guests in the room. The location is good. There is a supermarket next to it, which is convenient. There is also free parking. Other things are generally OK.

The first time I stayed in such a good hotel, because Edinburgh was not as fun as I imagined, so I stayed for a day and came to Carlisle. I didn’t expect to encounter such a home-like hotel. If you are a family of four coming to Europe unless you book two rooms, otherwise the room is small. You can’t imagine it. Here ~ to book a suite, like at home, the kitchen has everything! I went to buy ingredients that night to make it!

Our views on our visit to The Belsfield Hotel are rather mixed. It is an imposing and impressive building in a fantastic location overlooking the lake. Check in was good with all required information provided. Unfortunately upon entering our room ( room 30 ) we were disappointed as it was not as I expected. I had booked a suite as we have done several times at other hotels . Previously we have found a suite has consisted of a separate room for relaxing with the bedroom attached. On this occasion it was a larger bedroom with a sitting area and small table for two. The hotel’s website does state that a suite may , or may not , have a separate lounge area and so on this occasion I accepted we had drawn the short straw . No issues there . However the website also states the suites offer stunning views and a roll top bath . There was no roll top bath as promised, only an older standard plastic panelled bath. As we are planning on restyling our bathroom assessing a roll top bath in practice was one of the features that swayed our decision to stay here . With regard to the stunning views . When sitting at the table in our room having a coffee before breakfast our view was what appeared to be an old , derelict greenhouse / storage building . Not exactly an appealing view to begin your day . When I mentioned this at check out I was told by the member of staff that another company deals with the website description and so nothing to do with him . A rather strange and dismissive response and not the lasting impression you want when leaving the hotel . Overall the hotel is a very enjoyable place to visit with several areas to relax on the ground floor . Sitting on the terrace overlooking the lake was fantastic and would thoroughly recommend it . A special mention for Lucien who did a fantastic job of providing cocktails and was very knowledgeable and proficient in this . A credit to the hotel . The hotel has so many good points that may , for some , outweigh the negatives around the room but unsure if we would return or recommend.

I was afraid that the Lake District was too busy to book a hotel. I booked this hotel very early. The facts proved to be correct. There are too many people in the Lake District! We arrived at one o'clock in the afternoon, about twenty minutes walk from Windermere train station, which is a bit far away. This hotel is actually in Bowness, closer to the lake. You can't check in when you arrive, you need to wait until two o'clock in the afternoon. Our family had to wait to check in in the afternoon sun, and ate the sandwiches we brought with our suitcase as the table. Check in on time at two o'clock. The room is on the third floor, there is no elevator, the stairs are very narrow, and it is a bit difficult to carry luggage. It’s a pity that the room is good, although it is an old house, the facilities are relatively new and the bed is relatively large. It's less than ten minutes' walk from the lake, much closer than the train station. There are small supermarkets and restaurants near the hotel, which is more convenient. It must be noted that luggage storage is marked on the website. In fact, it is not allowed to deposit. It is six pounds at the visitor center, only until 5 pm.

The scenery around the hotel is very beautiful, right by the lake. It takes three minutes to walk to Peter Rabbit World and 10 minutes to walk to the cruise ship terminal. It is highly recommended.
