"During the Mid-Autumn Festival, I brought my wife and kids here. This was already the most affordable accommodation I could find for the price. Plus, it had everything we needed, lacking nothing. "Pros: The location is pretty good, right in the commercial street, making it convenient to go anywhere. It's close to places like Qinghui Garden and Jinbang Street.
The room was clean and had excellent natural light; I didn't need to turn on the lights during the day with the curtains open.
The service was great. After parking at the Workers' Cultural Palace, they arranged for us to be picked up and taken to the hotel. It's not too far to walk either. Today, after checking out, the staff member took us to the parking lot. After dropping off our luggage, we wanted to do more sightseeing, and they even helped us get to a nearby location (it was on their way back to the hotel, so it was convenient for them too).
Cons: The only downside was that there was construction happening when we visited. Half of the entrance to the Cultural Palace was blocked, and the entire surrounding area was under construction. We were woken up by the hammering and banging around 7 AM. It should be fine once the construction is over.
I didn't take pictures of the room, but the shuttle car was quite interesting, so I snapped a photo of it."

Rainie tongHigh-floor view, the room felt neat and clean, with complete facilities. The location is also very convenient, making it easy to get around and find great food. The staff were friendly and welcoming, leading to a wonderful overall stay with great value for money. The lobby has a great atmosphere and is equipped with all essential amenities, close to numerous dining and shopping options. The hotel provides breakfast, afternoon tea, and late-night snacks. Right across from the hotel is Beijing Road, and it's just a few minutes' walk to Peasant Movement Institute Station (or equivalent local station) or Gongyuanqian Metro Station, which feature Line 1 and Line 2. Getting to places frequented by seniors and kids—like the Guangzhou Oceanarium, zoo, children's park, and Pearl River night cruise—is extremely convenient. The easy commute makes sightseeing much less exhausting. The decision-making and arrangements were spot-on. We stayed for two nights, and the evening staff promptly replenished bottled water and other supplies. They also allowed us to store our luggage for three days. I will definitely choose to stay here again next time, especially since I've already stored my luggage and booked again.

HushenyuHonestly, the service team was so inconsistent it was speechless, with too many frustrating examples to list 😅. The concierge downstairs was excellent, and the lobby front desk staff were professional and good. However, the room attendants seemed quite young, possibly untrained, and their compensation might be average. They were completely clueless about the binoculars, laundry service, and minibar 😅. The male staff at the fitness center were very enthusiastic and provided professional and thorough guidance. But the changing room cleaner, an old man, would work right next to you, silently trying to shoo you away, and when asked a question, his tone was sarcastic… My companion mentioned that the female attendants were bad, ignoring her and chatting/playing on their phones nearby. I also observed the same situation during my visit 😅. The afternoon tea at the lounge was quite sparse (though it seemed better for foreigners**), but the evening service and food quality were excellent and attentive. Overall, if I hadn't been unable to book at Dongwan, I wouldn't have bothered going here. Every staff member at breakfast was professional, thumbs up. Some facilities in the executive room were showing their age; the minibar had a rusty smell 😂, likely due to prolonged disuse without replacement, but the room attendant was still enthusiastic. The hallway carpet was old, and the air freshener had an unsettling, somewhat rancid smell.
Overall, for 5k a night, it felt worse than some 2k-3k-a-night hotels. To an NPC, this is the most disappointing fan I've ever stayed at. Now I understand why my boss specifically said not to sign a contract with this place.

I first learned about Mandarin Oriental because of Leslie Cheung, and since the Guangzhou property happened to be quite reasonably priced, I booked a one-night stay to experience it.
Let's start with the pros: The location is fantastic. It's right above Shipaiqiao Metro Station, with direct access to the hotel from the ground floor of Taikoo Hui. There are all kinds of shopping malls surrounding it, and it's not far from the Guangdong Museum, Canton Tower, and the Guangzhou Museum of Art. The young ladies at the front desk were very warm and greeted us with bright smiles. They promptly changed our room and even helped us with the elevator. There are soft stools inside the elevators, which are convenient for placing bags or for elderly guests to sit on. The room layout is quite regular, the mattress is comfortable, the linens are clean, and they didn't trigger any allergies. The curtains are button-operated and provide great blackout coverage. The bathtub comes with bath salts (though I'd suggest adding disposable bathtub liners). The welcome fruit was varied and tasted great.
Now for the cons: The soundproofing in the room is poor. The TV and voices from next door were very clear (the woman next door must have been like a lawyer, talking loudly for hours into the night). There are way too many mirrors in both the lobby and the rooms, making it a bit easy to get disoriented. The body lotion is in a large pump bottle fixed to the vanity, which is inconvenient to use and impossible to take home as a souvenir. The tea is bagged; I'd recommend adding large ceramic mugs with handles or offering loose-leaf tea. Only canned mineral water is provided—it would be better to add bottled water specifically for making tea. All the drinks in the fridge are chargeable; nowadays people care about health and don't drink that many anyway, so they could stock fewer cans and offer them to guests for free.
Finally, the highlight was the breakfast. Both the Chinese and Western kitchens were authentic—I polished off two bottles of yogurt alone. If you have time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, you should definitely book a room here.

Pupa-This is my third time staying here, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations once again. The room is spacious, impeccably clean with every corner spotless, and completely odor-free. The mattress has just the right firmness, the soundproofing is great, and it was very quiet at night, ensuring a wonderful sleep.
The front desk staff are polite and attentive, the check-in process was efficient, and any requests were handled promptly. The location is super convenient, right next to Taikoo Hui, with complete surrounding amenities. The facilities are well-maintained and the WiFi is stable. It's perfect for both business trips and short stays. Five-star review, this will definitely be my top choice next time!

The hotel is very conveniently located, with attractions, restaurants and public transport right on your doorstep. However, there are a few things worth considering before booking.
Firstly, the hotel occupies just one floor of a busy commercial building, rather than being a standalone hotel. Lift access can be frustrating, particularly during busy periods.
The rooms themselves are reasonably comfortable, but be aware that not all rooms have windows, so I would strongly recommend checking this before booking.
Breakfast offers a reasonable selection catering to both Western and Asian tastes. However, the kitchen is very small, meaning that even basic hot breakfast items such as fried eggs and bacon can take quite some time to be replenished, despite it being a buffet. Food frequently runs out, and guests often have to ask staff to top things up.
I believe much of this comes down to staffing. The reception staff seem to do absolutely everything — checking guests in, carrying luggage, serving breakfast, attending the bar and providing concierge services. They are clearly stretched across too many responsibilities.
On a very positive note, the staff are exceptionally friendly, welcoming and always willing to help. Their attitude and willingness to assist were certainly highlights of our stay.
Overall, the location is excellent and the staff are wonderful, but the hotel’s facilities and operational shortcomings let it down. With some improvements to staffing and breakfast service, the experience could be significantly better.
I’m sorry I couldn’t give a more positive review, but I hope this feedback is taken constructively.

Kris LYKI know this hotel is undergoing renovations, and some packages for the new room types even include lounge access and five meals a day, which offers excellent value for money!
First, regarding the room, the newly renovated style is minimalist and refined. The room feels very spacious and has excellent natural light. The bathroom amenities include Diptyque shampoo, shower gel, and lotion, which was a very pleasant touch.
Next, concerning the dining, the five meals included afternoon tea, happy hour, evening dessert and drinks after check-in, and breakfast and lunch on the second day. The afternoon tea was a pleasant surprise. Although the food selection for happy hour wasn't extensive, it focused on quality over quantity. I didn't get to enjoy the late-night dessert session, but I learned that it was a chocolate-themed dessert night, and the themes are updated regularly. It's worth noting that no matter when you dine, you can enjoy unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Finally, I'd like to commend the hotel's service. All the staff I encountered during this stay were extremely polite and friendly. Especially Miss Sahar at the front desk, the check-in process was very smooth and efficient, and she even followed up afterward to see if I needed any assistance. A male staff member in the lounge also provided very professional service, always greeting us with a warm smile every time we entered the lounge for a meal.
Overall, my experience during this stay was excellent, and I look forward to visiting again after the full renovation!

During check-in, the staff patiently explained all the guest perks. The gym and indoor constant-temperature pool do not require reservations; you can simply use your room card for access. While there might be brief crowd control measures during peak holiday periods, it doesn't affect the overall experience. The gym is fully equipped and spotlessly clean, perfect for daily workouts. The water quality in the indoor heated pool is excellent, and the temperature is just right, making it wonderful for both swimming and playing in the water. The Hengqin Bay Water Park is extremely fun with a rich variety of water attractions suitable for visitors of all ages. The guest rooms are spacious with a well-designed layout; the bedding is soft, comfortable, and ensures a great night's sleep. The rooms are kept clean and tidy, fully stocked with toiletries, and boast excellent soundproofing for a peaceful night's rest. The photographer from Xiaowan Photography was great at setting a lively mood and excelled at capturing natural, heartwarming moments between family members; even the unedited raw photos turned out wonderful. Our butler, Sini, was exceptionally thoughtful, responding promptly to all our requests. We left in a rush at check-out, and she even helped arrange to have our left-behind clothes shipped to us—thank you so much! The whole family had a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable time.
