It’s a 15-20 minute walk from Kyoto station in a pretty dark alley. The place was very clean when we arrived. There nobody at the counter and we checked in late around 8pm. The staff were kind enough to email us the pass code to our rooms and allow us to check in pass the usual operating hours. We were in Kyoto for 4 nights. The location is convenient and it was clean when we checked in however the room wasn’t cleaned on a daily basis, probably only cleaned once before check in. It’s not ok if you’re someone who expects the room to be cleaned everyday or every couple of days, otherwise it’s fine The reception is located around 20-30 min walking distance from the inn(near Kyoto station). we wanted to leave our luggage at the reception for awhile after we check out, so we had to travel down to the reception with our luggage after checking out. We had our luggage transferred from Narita airport to the the inn. We had to email the staff for assistance as the reception is not located at inn. We overall had a good experience but do take note of the cons if your schedule/requirements are not as flexible. Staff replied to my emails very quickly and were very friendly and flexible.

Nijo Castle
A hotel a lil further from the city, but close enough to Nijo Castle with easy access to buses, stops were really close to the Studio. We enjoyed our stay there. There was a Second Street relatively close by (via bus) and a few grocery shops too which was quite convenient for us, even in the heat of a summer in Kyoto. The people at the counter changed almost everyday and they were mostly friendly. Thoroughly found the luggage service at Kyoto Station very convenient too, so we did not have to lug it around after checking out, before our train to the airport. Beds were large and room was relatively bigger than usual. though the sofa bed mattresses did not entirely seem to fit the frame and sunk in a little at some places. Very good value for money!

Hotel was very pleasant. The room I booked has got a washing machine/dryer. It also comes with a collapsible bed mounted on the wall, perfect for kids or smaller size adults to sleep on. Room is huge compared to other places, size to price ration was definitely a plus. The only down side is the distance away from Kyoto Station, but is easily avoided with a bus ride (2 stops only) or a short walk of 10 mins. There isn't luggage service here, but you can search for ”Yamato luggage” on Google map. There's one pick up spot nearby, less than 5 mins away. Convenient store is also nearby, right beside the hotel. During raining days, hotel also provides umbrella. A very peaceful and quiet neighborhood. Not many selection for dinner spots immediately at the neighborhood, need to walk a few hundred meters away. Fridge was huge, has a microwave and mini toaster oven.

Nijo Castle
During my recent stay at this unique Kyoto hotel, I was impressed by several aspects. The staff, predominantly international, were comfortable communicating in English, which made my stay much more convenient. While the location is slightly north of central Kyoto, requiring some extra travel time to reach the main tourist areas, I found this to be a blessing in disguise. The hotel's proximity to the serene Kyoto Imperial Palace Gardens (Kyoto Gyoen) offers guests a peaceful retreat from the city's bustle. The quiet neighborhood perfectly captures the traditional atmosphere of Kyoto. One particularly interesting aspect is the hotel's ninja theme. For enthusiasts of Japanese ninja culture, this adds an exciting and unique dimension to the stay. The themed elements throughout the property create an engaging experience that sets it apart from standard hotels.

I had a pleasant stay at this ”spacious” house, which comfortably accommodates five people. The male receptionist at the shuttle van spoke fluent English and provided excellent service. The location is convenient, just 1km with a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, making it easy to explore the area. They offered a generous supply of 1.5L of drinking water, along with tea and coffee on the first day, which was a nice touch. The premises also include a lift with a camera, making it very convenient for those carrying luggage. The toiletries and laundry detergent provided were of good quality, and the bathroom dryer function was incredibly useful for drying washed clothes. However, I did notice a slight leak in the toilet, which kept the floor a bit damp, so be cautious. Overall, I would definitely choose to stay with Resi Stay again during my next visit!

The hotel itself is modern and well-maintained, with clean and spacious rooms that feature all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The decor is stylish, and the facilities, including the self-check-in system, are convenient for a smooth arrival. However, it’s important to note that the location is a bit far from public transportation, which might be an inconvenience if you’re relying on buses or trains.but can go to Gojo station or bus stop for walking in 5-10 mins , the hotel offers good value for the quality of the rooms and service. The self-check-in system is efficient, and I appreciated that staff were on standby to help when needed. The hotel’s amenities were excellent, and the overall cleanliness and comfort of the room made up for the initial check-in experience.

Wow!!! This by far has been our favorite of all the hotels we have stayed in Japan, if you are looking for a combination of traditional and modern this is it!. We first thought it was inconvenient as we were nervous and have never been in Japan and felt so different than Tokyo, but once we were settled, we all agreed it was the best so by far, beautiful, clean and super safe!!! We even left our teenagers move by themselves in the area. Just be mindful that some restaurants close early or check the times and days they close, go to a Konbini and pack up on snacks, the rooms have refrigerator, microwave, hairdryer, toothpaste, pj's, name it, they have it! Kyoto is absolutely beautiful! I would happily stay here a month and wouldn't miss home one bit!! Enjoy your trip!!!

Gion/Kiyomizu Temple
We had a great stay! The location is good, walking distance to Yasaka Shrine, Maruyama Park and Gion district. Lots of convenience store and restaurants nearby and there is also a 24 hr supermarket. It is near the bus stop where lots of Kyoto buses pass by. The place itself was clean and huge compared to other hotels. There is a separate kitchen and bathroom area with a tub. The bedroom is huge and we could unfold our luggage and still have enough space to walk around. They have provided a clothes drying rack and washing machine with detergent. There is drip coffee provided and some tea. Highly recommended if you want to stay in Gion district and walk around the Higashiyama area in Kyoto! There are lots to do around and a lot of temples within walking distance.

Kyoto City Centre
It's a good place to stay. The room is quite big, not too small. There are good amenities. There is a washing machine in the room (but no iron). The room is very clean. Everything is okay. But the place is far from the food and shopping areas. It is almost 1 kilometer from the train station. If you carry heavy bags, it will be difficult to walk here.
